MUMBAI: Google has promoted Siddharth Shekhar to director, LCS, Google India, handing him a broader mandate across some of the country’s most consequential sectors, including government and public sector, BFSI, education and automotive.

The appointment comes as Google doubles down on artificial intelligence-led transformation, with Shekhar tasked with helping large institutions and enterprises translate advanced AI tools into measurable business growth.

Shekhar has been with Google for over eight years, most recently leading the technology, media and entertainment and telecom verticals. Before that, he headed media and entertainment sales, steadily expanding Google’s partnerships with India’s largest broadcasters, publishers and digital-first companies.

His career spans senior roles at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, where he worked in the chief executive’s office and led retail sales across west and east India, and earlier stints at Disney Star and Technopak Advisors. He began his professional journey as a project management consultant, working across apparel manufacturing and retail.

The expanded role places Shekhar at the intersection of policy, finance, education and mobility, sectors central to India’s economic engine. With AI moving from promise to practice, Google is betting on deep sectoral leadership to unlock the next wave of digital growth.

For Shekhar, the brief is clear: turn scale into impact, and ambition into execution.
