Pocket FM names Vasu Sharma as head of AI
NEW DELHI: Pocket FM has brought a heavy hitter from big tech into its audio universe. The audio series platform has appointed Vasu Sharma as its new head of AI, signalling a sharper push towards technology-led storytelling.
Sharma joins Pocket FM from Meta, where he was an applied research scientist lead with Facebook AI research. At Meta, he worked on some of the world’s largest multimodal foundation models, spanning text, vision, audio and generative AI. His work featured across several high-impact research publications and flagship projects such as Llama, Chameleon and MaVIL.
At Pocket FM, Sharma will report directly to co-founder Prateek Dixit and lead AI research as well as applied innovation. His mandate covers narrative generation, production intelligence and large-scale localisation, all aimed at helping the platform tell more stories, faster and in more languages.
The company is betting that smarter algorithms can unlock richer plots, smoother production and stories that travel effortlessly across borders. Sharma’s experience with trillion-scale models is expected to play a key role in that ambition.
With this appointment, Pocket FM is making it clear that the future of audio storytelling will be written not just by writers, but also by code.
