JioStar cracks down on piracy in Srinagar
SRINAGAR: JioStar has struck hard against broadcast piracy in Srinagar, taking action against a local cable operator called Sen. The crackdown follows reports that the operator, linked to major J&K MSO Take One JK Media Pvt. Ltd., was illegally transmitting JioStar channels to around 50,000 subscribers.
Authorities registered FIR No. 63/2025 on 7 December 2025 at Police Station Shaheed Gunj, and police swiftly raided the operator’s premises, seizing set-top boxes and other equipment used to redistribute the channels without permission.
The operator was also reportedly carrying restricted Pakistani channels, raising national security concerns alongside financial losses to the broadcaster and government due to unpaid subscriptions and taxes.
This move reflects JioStar’s broader zero-tolerance approach to piracy, which has seen similar enforcement in states like Rajasthan and Haryana. The company emphasises its commitment to protecting intellectual property, supporting law enforcement, and keeping India’s broadcast space secure and fair.
With sharper ground-level intelligence, stronger legal action, and closer industry collaboration, JioStar is making it clear that piracy will not pay.
