MUMBAI: Ajinkya Sawant has shifted gears with a promotion to manager – partnerships and broadcast relations at JioStar, marking another sharp turn upward in a career built on sport, hustle and commercial savvy.

Sawant joins JioStar’s partnerships and broadcast vertical after a two-year stint in sponsorship and commercial at Mashal Sports, the home of the Pro Kabaddi League. Before that, he spent nearly five years at Star TV Network in ad sales operations, sharpening his grip on media monetisation.

His journey through India’s sports ecosystem has been anything but linear. From co-founding CoachKhoj and Neurosports to steering corporate sports initiatives at Star India, Sawant has clocked hours across entrepreneurship, broadcast operations and sponsorship strategy. His early forays included internships at LinkMySport and Procam International, followed by a brief spell running Parle Indians Football Club.

The new mandate at JioStar hands Sawant the runway to fuse his commercial instincts with broadcast ambition — and if his trajectory so far is any indication, he’s only just getting up to full speed.
