DUBAI: Danube Group is padding up for a new innings. The UAE-based conglomerate has entered digital sports media with the launch of Mr Cricket UAE Media Group, the country’s first digital platform dedicated solely to cricket, marking a strategic expansion beyond its core businesses.

Led by Anis Sajan, vice chairman of Danube Group, the move takes the company beyond real estate, retail, building materials and hospitality into a fast-growing, consumer-led media segment. The launch reflects Danube’s push to diversify into content-driven platforms as sport, technology and entertainment converge.

The unveiling drew a roll call of cricketing heavyweights, including Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, JP Duminy, Angelo Mathews, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid and Rohan Bopanna, underlining the platform’s global ambitions from day one.

Headquartered in Dubai, Mr Cricket UAE Media Group aims to deliver live and real-time cricket coverage, exclusive player interviews, premium video programming, social-first short-form content and documentary-style storytelling rooted in the culture of the game. While cricket is the starting point, the platform plans to expand into other sports over time, evolving into a broader multi-sport digital brand.

“The UAE has become a global home for cricket,” said Anis Sajan. “This platform is about shaping how the sport is consumed, not just where it is played.”

As the UAE tightens its grip on the global cricket calendar, Danube’s latest bet signals that the next frontier of the game lies as much in screens and stories as in stadiums.
