NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel has been slapped with a Rs 6,99,000 penalty by the Department of Telecommunications, Andhra Pradesh LSA, for alleged lapses in subscriber verification norms. The notice follows a CAF audit for August 2025, in which DoT flagged shortcomings in compliance with license-mandated customer verification procedures.

The company received the notice on 29th December 2025 and has opted not to contest the penalty. Rohit Krishan Puri, joint company secretary and compliance officer, confirmed that the financial impact is limited to the fine and does not affect operations.

With the matter settled swiftly, Airtel signals it is taking regulatory compliance seriously while keeping its business engine running at full throttle.
