    MUMBAI: It’s raining movie premieres on television and the latest one that will soon have its world television premiere is Dil Dhadakne Do, which is directed by Zoya Akhtar.

     

    Zee Cinema HD will premiere the movie on 19 September at 8 pm. 

     

    Shot across the Mediterranean Sea on a cruise ship, the film stars Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Farhaan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma and Shefali Shah. Additionally, the film has narration by Aamir Khan.

    IIFA set to dazzle KL; to screen ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ on 6 June

    MUMBAI: The 16th edition of the International Film Academy (IIFA) Awards is all set to startle Bollywood. The Videocon d2h IIFA Weekend will take place at Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 5-7 June 2015.

     

    IIFA will be screening Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film Dil Dhadakne Do on 6 June. The film is a comedy drama about a family that takes a trip, which changes them forever. It stars Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma and Rahul Bose amongst others.

     

    This year, IIFA will witness an exclusive night dedicated to fashion, which will be hosted by Neha Dhupia. A host of performances by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Mika, Anikt Tiwari and others will be seen at IIFA Rocks, the exclusive music extravaganza. Some of the other stars, who will take centre stage at IIFA Rocks are Jacqueline Fernandes, Aditi Rao Hydari, Lisa Hayden and Lauren Gotlieb.

     

    Wizcraft International Entertainment director Andre Timmins said, “We have some incredible performances all set for the IIFA stage this year including some of the biggest stars of Bollywood in film as well as music.     Eros International acquires international rights of Excel’s upcoming movies

    MUMBAI: Eros International Media (Eros International), one of the leading global film company in the Indian film entertainment industry has acquired the international rights of Excel Entertainment’s eagerly awaited films – Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do and film critic turned director Karan Anshuman’s Bangistan.

     

    Dil Dhadakne Do, in Zoya’s trademark style boasts of an ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and Shefali Shah. Shot mostly in foreign locales on a cruise ship, the film is a drama centered around a dysfunctional Punjabi family.

     

    Anshuman’s Bangistan, a hilarious parody stars Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat as two rival, blundering terrorists with Jacqueline Fernandez making a special appearance.

     

    Eros International CEO Jyoti Deshpande stated: “After a successful association for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, we are happy to once again partner with Excel who are known to make films that entertain as well as consistently offer a fresh take on cinema. Dil Dhadakne Do and Bangistan are looking extremely promising and we are looking forward to showcase these films internationally through our digital and distribution network.”

    Rahul Khanna and Monica Dogra starrer ‘Fireflies’ to release on 31 October

    MUMBAI: Rahul Khanna and Monica Dogra starrer film Fireflies is all set to release in India on 31 October 2014.

     

    Confirming this, Khanna tweeted on Saturday: “Happy to announce the release date of my film, ‘Fireflies’ – 31st October, 2014! More details soon.”

     

    Written and directed by Sabal Singh Sheikhawat, the film also stars the very talented Arjun Mathur who has been a part of films like Mira Nair’s Migration and Zoya Akhtar’s Luck by Chance. The movie is being produced by Wild Geese Pictures and distributed by Panorama Studios.

     

    The film is a drama capturing the lives of two estranged brothers played by Khanna and Mathur. One, who leads a very successful life as a banker and the other who is a law school dropout and lives by the day and how fate brings them together after 15 years.

     

    Through this movie, Indie music’s reigning queen Monica Dogra will make her first appearance on the silver screen after Bejoy Nambiar’s Davidas.

     

    The movie is being produced by Wild Geese Pictures and distributed by Panorama Studios.

    MUMBAI: After creating wonders in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD), one of the most popular on-screen jodis – Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif is all set to be seen together again after Bang Bang.

     

    According to media reports, the duo will be seen in Zoya Akhtar’s next- Road.

     

    The movie is also said to reprise the hit ZNMD troika of Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol. Speculations are that Abhay and Farhan would not have a romantic backup in the film, hence it will only have one heroine.

     

    Even though there is no official confirmation yet, reports add that Hrithik Roshan is already on board and Katrina Kaif is in the running to play the lead.

     

    While Zoya Akhtar is currently directing Dil Dhadakne Do; Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif are presently busy with their upcoming film Bang Bang. The two actors will soon start the promotion of the film which is all set to release on 2 October.

     

    Already, Bang Bang has created a record with its trailer by becoming the fastest promo to cross one million mark in 13 hours and 2 million in 18 hours of its release. And now the two songs ‘Tu Meri’ and ‘Meherbaan’ have also gone viral online.

     

    The high-on-action flick, which is a remake of the Hollywood movie Knight and Day, also features Danny Denzongpa and Jaaved Jaffrey in key roles.

     

    Dil Dhadakne Do is a story about a dysfunctional family starring Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma.

    The author, journalist and film critic has written several books on Indian cinema and the latest addition to this long list is ‘100 Films To See Before You Die’. With Indian cinema completing hundred years in 2013, it is a perfect guide for cinema enthusiasts.

     

    Wift Mumbai Chapter, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing a dynamic platform to facilitate the exchange of ideas, accelerate the professional development and recognise the achievement of women in film, television and other screen based media, is giving an opportunity to such enthusiasts to have conversation with the author herself.

     

    The event is a networking evening for women who get to interact with other professionals from the industry. “They get an opportunity to meet Anupama Chopra who has written the book and director Zoya Akhtar. The biggest challenge is to meet the right people. Wift gives them the opportunity through workshops like these with leading industry professionals,” says founder Petrina M D’Rozario.

     

    The organisation aims to have one such event every month. It also has an initiative called SNF (Saturday Night Fever) which is a relaxed evening one Saturday of the month with a theme over vino and cheese!

     

    Unlike some of the other events held by the organsiation which are only for the members, today’s event is open for all but will come with a charge of Rs 300 per head. “Only to be fair to our members who pay for the events and to pay for the F&B served at the event do we charge people,” clarifies Petrina.
    So, on a Friday evening head out to Le Sutra (Khar) to mingle with the industry professionals as well as to get an insight on the biggest churner of entertainment – Bollywood – from 6.30 pm onwards.

    NEW DELHI: ‘Bombay Talkies‘, the closing film of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IIFM) received a rare honour by receiving a standing ovation by a 600 member strong audience.

    "We could not have wished for a better closing night movie than Bombay Talkies, making its Australian debut only three days after receiving a gala screening in Cannes. The response to the screening has been beyond expectation" said IFFM festival director Mitu Bhowmick Lange.

    An anthology of four short films by four of India‘s most exciting directors – Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar – Bombay Talkies was the icing on the cake for the festival‘s own celebrations of 100 years of Indian cinema, and the packed audience loved it.

    "That was incredible. We saw aspects of India we rarely see, and could identify with every story," said one fan. "It was a real eye-opener about India, and Indian cinema. The gay kiss was refreshing to see too! And the film extremely confronting, especially coming from a mainstream film maker like Karan Johar", said Leima Popal who is an avid Bollywood fan.

    Following a long standing ovation, Aussies could be heard singing the Bombay Talkies song on their way out.
