    MUMBAI: As the kick-off to the greatest sporting event of the year FIFA World Cup 2014 is around the corner, it’s time to relive the glorious moments of one of the most iconic matches ever – FIFA WORLD CUP 2006 Finale Film. Get ready to be spellbound all over again as the two super teams Italy and France fight for the cup, on the World Cup special on MOVIES NOW.

     

    To warm you up for the FIFA World Cup this year, MOVIES NOW airs the most thrilling and the best football finale of World Cup match of the decade on Thursday, 12th June and a repeat telecast on Sunday, 13th July at 9 PM. The adrenaline rush was palpable throughout the 90 odd minutes with both the giants scoring a goal each within the first 20 minutes turning the Olympiastadion in Berlin into a fireball ready to explode with excitement.

     

    Other than the two nations fighting mighty hard, fans remember the finale as the send-off match of French wonder player Zinadine Zidane. His infamous head-butt, post a verbal duel with Italian scorer Marco Materazzi went down in the archives of football history. But the controversial exchange could not take away from the excitement as the match came to a simmering end with Italy scoring over their nemesis in a down-to-the-wire penalty shootout to sweep the championship cup away.

    Soccer films to be screened at IFFI

    MUMBAI: The forthcoming 42nd International Film Festival of India, Goa (IFFI) will showcase a special package called “Soccer in Cinema”.


    Knowing that Goa is known for its soccer crazy audience, IFFI brings to the fore films that not only invoke the euphoria of the game but also hold high cinematic values in terms of form and treatment.


    Films to be showcased in the ‘Soccer in Cinema’ package are: A Barefoot Dream (South Korea), Creators of Crowd (Brazil), Foot of God (Italy), Argentina Futbol Club (Argentina – USA), The Best Women In The World (Germany), More Than Just a Game (South Africa) and Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait (France).


    The screenings from this package will be held every day from 8 to 10 pm from 23 November to 3 December.

    Star World to air Gillette football show

    MUMBAI: One of English general entertainment channel Star World’s strategies to hook viewers is to offer entertaining specials around current events.

    The biggest event coming up is the Football World Cup. As a run up to the event, Star World will air the Gillette 2006 Fifa World Cup.

    The 12 part half an hour show will air every Saturday from 3 June at 7 pm. Gillette had commissioned UK production firm Sunset+Vine to make the show.

    Information available with Indiantelevision.com indicates that the show will provide a comprehensive overview of the tournament. Viewers will learn a lot about the teams and players who’ll be travelling to Germany to take part in football’s greatest competition. From David Beckham to Zinadine Zidane, Argentina to Trinidad and Tobago the show will present the biggest stars, teams and most exciting new talent playing the game.

    The aim of each episode is to be diverse and fast moving. It will contain a number of features, some of which are regular items, others will appear on a bi-weekly basis.
