    Zee5’s ‘Tehran’ races to 100 million minutes in record-breaking debut

    MUMBAI: The John Abraham-starrer became the fastest Hindi film of 2025 to cross the 100 million streaming minutes mark on Zee5 and it did so in just 72 hours of its Independence Day weekend premiere. By the end of its launch week, the geo-political thriller had clocked up a staggering 200 million minutes, securing its place as the platform’s most-watched Hindi release of the year.

    The film didn’t just win over Indian audiences. Streaming across 190 plus countries, Tehran broke into Zee5’s global Top 5 for 2025, trending in the US, UK, MENA and APAC proof that its tense narrative struck a chord with the diaspora.

    A slick marketing blitz only added to the spectacle. From a visual projection on Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link to hoardings across UP, MP and Mumbai, Tehran was unmissable. The promotions even included Zee5’s first-ever exclusive screening at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service in Delhi, capped with a candid Q&A session with John Abraham himself.

    Zee5 business head (Hindi), Kaveri Das, credited the success to the film’s “intelligent narrative” and said the response reflects the appetite for “stories that entertain while sparking conversations.”

    Meanwhile, Abraham called the audience’s love “truly overwhelming” and said the film reinforced his belief in pushing boundaries and said, “Geo-political thrillers are a genre I truly believe in, and this proves viewers want stories that go beyond entertainment, bold films that stay with you long after the credits roll.”

    Directed by Dinesh Vijan, the thriller stars John Abraham, Neeru Bajwa, Manushi Chhillar and Madhurima Tuli, and is set against the backdrop of the 2012 magnetic bomb blast near the Israeli Embassy in Delhi. With its blockbuster premiere, Tehran has firmly joined the ranks of Zee5’s most successful titles, reaffirming the streamer’s grip on premium homegrown content.

    Mumbai: Zee has always been proactive in providing Indian youth with a global platform to showcase their talent. The channel is all set to welcome another season of its immensely popular franchise for the youngest dancing talent in the country, “Dance India Dance (DID).” The fifth season of “DID L’il Masters” is set to premiere on 12 March and will air on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 p.m, only on Zee TV.

    The channel has come up with an interesting marketing strategy to ensure that the new season creates mass hysteria of an unforeseen magnitude.  Catering to more than one lakh people per day, the channel also used floating OOH in key Mumbai sites like Bandra Worli Sea Link and Juhu Beach for high-impact visibility.

    The highlight initiative was the biggest and first-of-its-kind fan-sourced 360-degree dance video mosaic on the streets of Mumbai. The idea provided passionate dancers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to express their undying love for dance while being captured by a 360-degree rotating camera.

    Each such 360-degree dance video of a DID buff dancing their hearts out made its way into a 30 feet x 11 feet video mosaic. The three-day activity that commenced on 5 March at Bandra’s Carter Road Promenade, witnessed a total of 1500+ entries by 7 March, thus paving way for the channel to make a spectacular entry into the International Book of Records.  The gorgeous judge of the show, actor Sonali Bendre too participated in this activity by recording the final video to register a world record of the ‘World’s biggest 360-degree video mosaic’ using maximum, unique 360-degree videos sourced within 72 hours.

    Taking the joy of dancing into the by-lanes of India where dreams often do not find avenues, Zee TV collaborated with GiveIndia to host dance workshops for underprivileged kids supported by the giving platform in Varanasi, Ahmedabad, and Nagpur. While the three talented DID L’il Masters skippers- Vaibhav Ghuge, Vartika Jha and Paul Marshal demonstrated simple choreography for the kids to follow, it was the unbridled joy and innocent love for dancing on each of their faces that made the workshops such a huge success! As part of this noble initiative, DID L’il Masters is raising funds to educate and empower underprivileged children. 

  • Barjatya’s ‘Piyaa Albela’ on ZeeTV streaming live on dittoTV

    MUMABI: ZeeTV, well known for its ever-popular line up of TV shows is all set to launch the much-awaited romantic drama, ‘Piyaa Albela’, which can also be watched live on dittoTV. The show, produced by Sooraj Barjatya under the banner of Rajshri Productions, will launch on 6 March at 8.30 pm.

    ‘Piyaa Albela’ brings to viewers a perfect mix of romance, drama and comedy, with a touch of spirituality added in. Piyaa Albela will further strengthen the wide bouquet of Live TV shows across the range of 90+ channels that dittoTV offers to its subscribers.

    While Sooraj Barjatya is well known for working with the biggest stars in Bollywood and television, however, for this daily soap he chose to cast newcomers, Akshay Mhatre and Sheen Dass, as the main leads. Commenting on this, Sooraj explains, “The concept of a sage in meditation and a temptress attempting to break his penance is a very limited view of the Vishwamitra Menaka story. Very few people know of the love story that goes beyond the superficial layer of mere seduction. Our story is not mythological – it is set in contemporary times with real, relatable characters. It has elements, however, that can be compared to the classic. Our protagonist Pooja is approached by Naren’s parents – not to seduce their son but to ignite a spark for the real world within him. But how the two react to each other at the outset and then gradually come closer in the course of their interactions forms the crux of Piyaa Albela. We are pleased to have found the ideal Naren and Pooja in Akshay and Sheen, both making their fiction debuts as leads. Akshay’s eyes exude the brooding intensity required of Naren while Sheen has the verve, grace and positivity that Pooja needs to embody. The show is set in Dehradun and Rishikesh. We look forward to a great response.” The mysterious and suspense-filled storyline of Piyaa Albela is sure to resonate with the Indian youth, who form an important part of dittoTV’s subscriber base.

    BARC week 47: Sun TV maintains pole position across genres

    MUMBAI: Sun TV saw a rise in ratings and secured the leadership position across genres in week 47 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, all India (U+R) data.

     

    Sun TV garnered first position with 1177131 (000Sums) followed by Star Plus with 880351 (000Sums) in second place and Zee Anmol on the third spot with 755888 (000Sums).

     

    Colors with 752613 (000Sums) grabbed fourth spot followed by Zee TV at the fifth position with 689444 (000Sums). Star Ustav grabbed the sixth position with 546827 (000Sums).

     

    Sony Max with 509918 (000Sums) bagged the seventh position in the segment while Zee Cinema stood at number eight, up from last week’s tenth position with 470171 (000Sums). Life Ok stepped down to number nine with 469811 (000Sums), while ETV Telugu stood at the tenth spot with 439697 (000Sums).
