    Zee5 Global onboards Yogin Vora as associate director, digital marketing

    Mumbai: Streaming service platform Zee5 Global has brought on board Yogin Vora as associate director – digital marketing.

    Vora joins from HDFC Life, where he worked as senior marketing manager – digital marketing for more than three years.

    A management graduate from the University of Mumbai, Vora is a digital advertising professional with eight years of digital and three years of mainline media and marketing experience.

    He was previously associated with companies like DDB Mudra as partner – digital and Graphene Media as group head – offline and digital. He has also worked with Starcom Media and Madison Media in the past.

  • Zee5 rolls out in the US, announces Canada as another focus market

    KOLKATA: Zee5, owned by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) has forayed into the US market on Tuesday eyeing over five million South Asia diaspora audiences. The service has been priced at $6.99 per month, and at $84 per year. The streaming platform also announced a special discount for the student community, with the monthly pack priced at $4.99 instead of $6.99.

    Zee5 has clinched a few key partnerships as well. It has joined hands with the North American Association of Indian Students to strike a chord with the young audience. It will also be partnering with MassMutual in the US to reach the latter’s extensive South Asian customer database.

    The launch was announced by Zee5 Global chief business officer Archana Anand along with actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the latter attended the event as a special guest. Along with unveiling the platform’s upcoming content slate, the duo revealed the global brand campaign – ‘Welcome to South Asia: Stories from our world.”

    Zee Entertainment Digital Businesses & Platforms president Amit Goenka said: “We’ve had a long association of over two decades with this market, bringing our viewers here the best of Indian entertainment through our channels. With Zee5, we now look to offer both these audiences and the younger demographic access to a much wider choice of premium content with our Originals, digital premieres, and more, on any screen of their choice and with a completely personalized viewing experience.”

    In the coming months, Zee5 will release a number of movies, new shows, returning seasons of popular shows. RRR from filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, Sunil Grover starrer Sunflower, Rangbaaz 3, Oka Chinna Family, returning seasons of recently acquired TVF Originals Pitchers, Tripling. Moreover, the platform has lined up Pakistani shows like Churails, Ek Jhooti Love Story, and Dhoop ki Deewar.

    Zee5 Global’s Archana Anand said: “Bringing Zee5 into the U.S. is so much more than just providing the South Asian diaspora here with a mega entertainment platform through which they can access a vast library of stories. It is a powerful bridge between them, their culture, and their languages.”

    This content is available in Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, Punjabi, as well as Malay, Thai, Bahasa, Arabic, Urdu, and Bangla (Bangladeshi) with key titles dubbed and/or subtitled in English.

    Terming Canada as another focus market, Zee5 also emphasised that it is available for Canadian audiences and that it will also be launching its campaign in Canada, thereby kicking off its marketing in the country. Zee5 sees much potential in the country, given that it has a tremendous amount of content across languages like Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, perfect for key diaspora audiences within the Canadian landscape.

  • Zee5 set to launch in US on 22 June

    Kolkata: In what could be its biggest launch till date, Indian streaming platform Zee5 is all set to enter the United States market on 22 June.

    With this, the platform has set the stage for its rapid growth in a market that has over 5.4 million diaspora audiences with a deep cultural and language connection to its content. Zee5 is currently under beta testing in the US. This direct-to-consumer service launch is especially significant at a time when Indians settled in the US, many of whom remain deeply connected to their roots, are unable to travel home.

    The official announcement will be made at a virtual event where its platform and content will be unveiled. The company will also share key details about its plans for the market and its local partnerships, launch the brand campaign, and more.

    “The United States represents our most significant market and the last bastion in our global journey as we launch an ad-free subscription service. As a Global Media conglomerate, we have had a very deep connection with our diaspora audiences here, so it is a rather happy moment for me to now be bringing this audience the largest aggregation of South Asian content on a single platform through Zee5,” Zee Entertainment Digital Businesses & Platforms president Amit Goenka said.

    With this launch, the streaming platform will also open up access to the largest catalogue of content from South Asia including India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh to diaspora and even mainstream content consumers in the US who have been eagerly waiting to access Zee5’s massive content library. With 1,30,000 hours of content across 18 languages, Zee5 said it plans to offer a premium, highly accessible, and affordable option for viewers to engage with the best of South Asian stories.

Key titles are also subtitled or dubbed in English.

    Zee5’s Annual pack, priced at $84 will be available across all major devices at a limited launch offer price of $49.99. Zee5 subscribers in the U.S. will also be the first to stream Salman Khan’s Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai.

    Zee5 Global unveils fresh content line-up for April

    KOLKATA: As we wind up the first quarter of the year, Zee5 Global has unveiled a fresh new line-up of content. Viewers can choose from a variety of Zee5 Originals, television shows, and non-fiction shows to enjoy their summer at home.

    Leading the April line-up is the much-awaited Zee5 Original Film Raat Baaki Hai starring Paoli Dam, Anup Soni, Rahul Dev, Dipannita Sharma and Akash Dahiya. Set to premiere on 16 April, the film is a remake of the popular play Ballygunge-1990, and has been directed by Avinash Das and produced by Samar Khan of Juggernaut Productions. The film revolves around a fateful meeting between two ex-lovers under strange circumstances: one of them is running away from the law for being a murder suspect.

    Zee5-ALTBalaji Original web series Mai Hero Boll Raha Hu starring Parth Samanth, Patralekha and late Asif Basra will drop on 20 April. Taking the viewers through Nawab’s rise as an underworld don in the late 1980s and 1990s, the intriguing drama documents how an amazing friendship and mentorship quickly turns sour when Nawab outperforms his mentor Lala. Next in line is His Story, a Zee5-ALTBalaji Original series starring Satyadeep Misra, Priyamani and Mrinal Dutt in lead roles. The Hindi series premierses on 25 April.

    Zee5 Tamil Original Film Mathil revolves around Laxmikanthan, a common man, who fights against a politician who usurps the wall of his dream house for an election campaign. Starring Mime Gopi and KS Ravikumar, Mathil releases on 14 April 2021 (Puthandu, the Tamil New Year); the trailer is already out. 

    Viewers can also enjoy a special Ramadan curation from 12 April onwards with a variety of delectable festive recipes from celebrity chefs Kunal Kapoor, Sakshi Batra and others. Furthermore, the platform will stream some of the most loved family movies, TV shows and Originals for audiences across markets. From Shabana Azmi’s Mee Raqsam to primetime legacy shows Razia Sultan, Jodha Akbar and popular originals including Daawat-e-Biryani, Jaadu Kadai and more.

    For Zee Tamil viewers, the platform is set to celebrate the grand success of Yaradi nee Mohini and Poove Poochudava crossing a landmark 1,000 episodes – the first ever shows to do so, with Vetri Vizha on 11 April.

    Zee Bangla viewers can enjoy a new fiction TV show Amader Ei Poth Jadi Na Sesh Hoy, where a rich girl Urmi decides to become a taxi driver, in an exciting journey of self-discovery and independence. Slated to be released on 12 April, the show stars Anwesha Hazra as Urmi. Zee Bangla will soon premiere Dance Bangla Dance Season 10, judged by Bollywood celebrity Govinda and popular Bengali superstar Jeet and Ankush. The exciting Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Bangla gears up to stream the grand finale on 18 April.

    Zee Punjabi viewers can celebrate Baisakhi with Neeru Bajwa and top Punjabi artists and TV stars in a special episode on 10 April, while in the popular Punjabi cooking show Swaad Aa Gaya, viewers can celebrate Baisakhi the whole week.

    KOLKATA: Leading OTT Zee5 Global has unveiled a line-up of fresh content to kickstart the new year with a bang.

    Raising the curtains on 2021 on 1 January, the much-anticipated Zee5 Original Nail Polish takes viewers on a hypnotic journey of the uncertainties of the human mind. Nail Polish features an ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, Manav Kaul, Ranjit Kapoor, and Anand Tiwari.

    On 7 January, a satirical comedy Kaagaz will narrate the story of a man who fought for his life for 19 years after being declared dead by a group of people keen to take over his assets. Starring the epitome of versatility, Pankaj Tripathi in the lead role, Zee5 original Kaagaz is directed by Satish Kaushik and is one of the most anticipated releases of 2021.

    Zee5 second Bangladeshi original What The Fry is set to premiere on 9 January. Directed by National Award-winning director Anam Biswas, What The Fry is a heart-warming tale of a suicidal film star who meets a simple guy and finds a deeper meaning to life. The show is free to watch for viewers in Bangladesh.

    Under its pay-per-view vertical Plex, Zee5 Global is set to release two digital-first blockbuster films. Premiering on 13 January, the comedy-drama Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari will take viewers back to the 90’s, before the social media era, where a wedding detective performs background checks on prospective grooms. The movie features some of the most acclaimed actors of the industry including Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanj and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

    On 14 January, another comedy-drama Biskoth will drop, with two prolific stars of the Tamil film industry – Santhanam and Tara Alisha.

    On 22 January, the platform will release a gripping original Jeet Ki Zid. An Amit Sadh starrer, the series is based on a true story of grit, determination and the military. It’s the tale of a soldier whose never give-up attitude helps him overcome tough challenges and turn the impossible into possible.

    Yet another action-packed Original, this time from Zee5-Alt Balaji combine, Bang Bang will premiere on 26 January. Shot in the picturesque landscape of Maharashtra, it is a high-octane thriller starring Ruhi Singh, Faisal Sheikh amongst others.

    Popular Tamil serial Singa Penne will return to Zee5, continuing the story of a girl who falls in love with a boy in the armed forces and decides to cross every hurdle to join the army herself. The second part of Singa Penne season one premieres on India’s Republic Day – 26 January.

    Lastly, on 27 January, Zee5 Global will stream its new TV show, Teri Meri Ek Jindri, encompassing the lives of two young lovers against the backdrop of Punjab. The new Zee TV romantic show is based on the evergreen mantra that opposites attract.

    KOLKATA: Zee5 Global has lined up a fresh slate of originals to wind up 2020 with a bang. The OTT platform is ending the year with the robust content flow it has maintained throughout the year.

    Darbaan premiering on 4 December is inspired by a Rabindranath Tagore short story on love, loyalty and sacrifice. This Zee5 original film features Sharib Hashmi and Sharad Kelkar in lead roles.

    Lined up for release in the second half of the month is a remake of popular Nordic television series Black Widows, with an ensemble star cast that includes Mona Singh, Raima Sen, Swastika Mukherjee, Shamita Shetty, Sharad Kelkar, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and Aamir Ali. Bisra Dasgupta has directed this highly-anticipated story of three oppressed women taking the bull by the horns to put an end to domestic violence. Black Widows premieres on 18 December exclusively on Zee5.

    Also lined up for release on 18 December is the world digital premiere of the Bangla movie Password. And on 29 December, Milind Soman and Shaheer Sheikh are set to share the screen in a magnum opus period drama Paurashpur, a Zee5-Alt Balaji collaboration.

    Apart from these, marking its second anniversary, Zee Keralam will be streaming two new serials – Kaiyethum Doorath that premiered on 30 November, and Manam Pole Mangalyam set to release on 21 December.

    Other new TV shows available on Zee5 are the much-awaited Zee Bangla show Aparajita Apu, which debuted on 30 November, Zee Tamil show Thirumati Hitler launching on 14 December, and Zee Punjabi fiction show Maava Thandiyan Chavan, releasing on 15 December.

    The streaming platform will also premiere Zee TV’s latest daily soap Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti, the story of a married couple who begin to have differences in their relationship, on 14 December, featuring new episodes every day.

    Among its year ender specials, Zee5 will air the popular Zee Rishtey Awards 2020 on 27 December. The streaming platform is also hosting a Global Content Festival through December, inviting entries for feature films, documentaries and shorts from independent film makers across the world, giving them a chance to showcase their content on Zee5.

    KOLKATA: Zee5 has launched the Global OTT Content Festival, a first-of-its-kind initiative which will give independent filmmakers, students of cinema, and young content creators a global platform to showcase their talent on and find audiences in 190+ countries.

    Through the Content Festival, Zee5 Global is inviting entries for content created in any language across fiction and non-fiction TV shows, movies, documentaries, stories, short films, music videos and more. The duration for music videos or albums can be between three to five minutes, and audio-visual content comprising episodic content, film, web-series etc must have a minimum duration of 30 minutes.

    Participants are required to send in their entries to contentfest@zee5.com. Entries will be open for a month. An expert panel of judges at Zee5 will shortlist the top 50 entries which will then be premiered exclusively on the platform. Zee5 will also drive promotional efforts around the content globally on behalf of the filmmakers.

    The content festival is expected to attract the largest aggregation of entries across languages from multiple markets. Not only is the festival a singular unique opportunity for content creators to attain global fame instantly, but it will also add to the slate of language content already available on Zee5.
