    Zee TV slips back to No. 4

    MUMBAI: Zee TV, which had reached to the second spot last week after a gap of one year, has slumped back to No. 4.

    As per TAM data (C&S, 4+, HSM) for week ended 31 March, Zee TV saw a dip of 14 GRPs (gross rating points) to close the week with 200 points. A majority of fiction shows of the channel have lost eyeballs.

    Leading GEC, Star Plus, has also seen a fall of 29 GRPs to clock 289 points during the week. The channel had crossed the 300 GRP-mark last week on the back of Star Parivaar Awards 2012 that had clocked 6.41 TVR. Star Plus launched its singing reality show, ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar’ on 31 March, which opened with a 0.8 TVR.

    Sony Entertainment Television (Set) has jumped to No. 2 this week. The channel added 8 GRPs to end the week with 217 GRPs (last week 209). The channel’s non-fiction shows, C.I.D (3.99 TVR) and Crime Petrol (4.80 TVR), continue to be in the list of top 10 shows on Hindi GECs.

    Occupying the third place is Colors. The channel saw a rise in ratings, ending the week with 205 GRPs (200 GRP). Its leading fiction show Balika Vadhu has seen an improvement and was the third most watched show on a Hindi GEC.

    Next in the list are Sab and Life OK which added 8 GRPs each and clocked 140 GRPs and 82 GRPs respectively.

    Imagine TV with 54 GRPs (last week 62) and Sahara One with 53 GRPs (last week 43) are fighting neck-and-neck at the bottom of the heap.

    MUMBAI: It took one year to happen. Zee TV has climbed to the second spot in the Hindi GEC space, intensifying the battle for the rank below market leader Star Plus in a year that is seeing a lot of volatility in ratings.

    Zee TV’s new ranking was achieved despite a drop of 3 GRPs (gross rating points) as the channel pocketed 214 points in the week ended 24 March, TAM data (C&S, 4+, HSM) shows.

    Zee TV’s last sight at the No 2 spot was in the ninth week of 2011, with a score of 233 GRPs.

    Meanwhile, Star Plus saw a surge in ratings this week. The channel added 31 GRPs to end the week with 318 GRPs (last week 287). The addition can be attributed to the telecast of Star Plus’ home-grown property ‘Star Parivaar Awards 2012‘ on 24 March that garnered 6.41 TVR.

    Sony slipped to the third spot of the GEC ladder, after shedding nine GRPs. The channel’s top rated shows C.I.D and Crime Petrol have managed to remain in the ‘top 10 shows’ list. The channel has scored 209 GRPs (last week 218).

    Colors has lost 14 GRPs to close the week with 200. The channel launched a social thriller fiction show ‘Chhal Sheh Aur Maat’ on 19 March that opened with 2.5 TVR.

    The second GEC from Sony Entertainment, Sab, has maintained its fifth position with the addition of three GRPs. The channel managed to collect 132 GRPs to its kitty.

    On the back of Asia Cup’s India vs. Pakistan cricket match, DD1 has fetched 86 GRPs (last week 54). The match clocked an average TVR of 4.72.

    Life OK came next with 74 GRP (last week 84), followed by Imagine TV with 62 GRP (last week 63) and Sahara One (43 GRPs), according to TAM data.

    MUMBAI: Zee TV has made it to the top 3 after seven months.

    As per TAM data (C&S, HSM, 4+), in the week ended 25 February, Zee TV marched to the third spot among the Hindi GECs as it added 43 GRPs (gross rating points) to its previous week‘s tally to end the week with 222 GRPs.

    All the fiction shows of the channel saw an improvement in ratings. It also launched a new fiction property, Punarvivaha, on 20 February that opened with 2.7 TVR and averaged 2.6 TVR during the week. The channel also reduced the ad break duration of some of its shows.

    Meanwhile, this is for the first time after August 2008, Colors, the flagship channel from the Viacom18 stable, has dropped to No. 4 on the GEC ladder. The channel, which launched on 21 July 2008, recorded 200 GRPs (last week 193) in the week.

    Leading GEC, Star Plus, though continues to be on top even after losing 19 GRPs. The channel from Star Network bouquet ended the week with 279 GRPs (last week 298).

    Sony Entertainment Channel (Set) attracted more eyeballs and maintained its number two position in the ratings chart. It added 17 GRPs and ended the week with 227 GRPs (last week 210). The channel aired Filmfare Awards 2011 on 19 February that garnered 4.59 TVR.

    Second GEC from Sony Entertainment Network, Sab, lost points and registered 134 GRPs (last week 141) while Life OK from Star Network stable added three points and ended the week with 81 GRPs (last week 78).

    Imagine TV added 5 GRPs and closed the week with 63 GRPs (last week 58).

    Meanwhile, Sahara One — for the first time in three years — crossed the 50 GRP-mark. The channel gained 9 GRPs to record 53 GRPs (last week 44). The channel has launched a new horror band and both the shows – Haunted Nights and Yeh Kaali Kaali Raatein – opened with a 0.6 TVR.

    MUMBAI: TV Today’s flagship Hindi news channel, Aaj Tak, has emerged as the most trusted brand across the television as well as news channel category, according to the Brand Trust Report unveiled recently.

    New Delhi-based news network NDTV has come second as the most trusted television brand followed by Discovery channel, which is at the third spot in the overall television category and first in the ‘other’ category.

    The top ten listing consists of as many as three general entertainment channels including Zee TV at fourth spot, Star at sixth spot, and Colors at seventh spot. Food lifestyle channel Food Food TV has climbed tenth spot in the first year of its launch.

    Sun TV is the only channel from South to make it to the list of 40 most trusted television brands. Kaun Banega Crorepati, which made a successful comeback last year with its larger-than-life host Amitabh Bachchan, is the only television programme to figure in the Top 40 list, which mainly comprises news, infotainment and movies channels among others.

    Among the GEC’s, TLC Travel & Living has emerged as the numero uno brand followed by Colors in a list that comprises 13 channels including Star TV, Food Food and MTV who share the third, fourth and fifth position respectively. At the bottom of the heap is Hindi comedy channel from MSM stable, Sab TV.

    The English movies sub-category is shared by Star Movies and HBO at first and second spot respectively while the sports sub-category is dominated by ESPN Star Sports network channels – ESPN and Star Sports.

    Similarly, in the ‘channel cluster‘ category, Star Network, UTV Group (now bought by Walt Disney) and Zee Network have taken the top three spots. In ‘other’ sub-category, Discovery followed by Disney are the top two brands. Others include National Geographic channel, History channel and KBC.

    The news sub-category was dominated by Hindi, English and business channels with none of regional languages making it to the top 15 list. American news broadcaster CNN and British pubcaster BBC also finished in the final list.

    The Brand Trust Report (BTR), compiled and released annually, includes the BTR questionnaire which is designed to illuminate approximately 425 aspects of brand trust, of which 391 were directly brand related.

    The study also questioned respondents about two other important brand trust influencers – brand recall and the trust-experience of brands, the latter of which they were requested to furnish reasons for. This year‘s research was conducted among 2718 ‘influencer‘ respondents across 15 cities.

    The study generated nearly two million data points and 17,000 brands and was conducted across 15 cities. Indian Statistical Institute helped create a statistically robust Brand Trust Index which has been used to hierarchically rank India‘s brands on the basis of trust.

    MUMBAI: Leading Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) from Star Network bouquet, Star Plus, has gained 25 GRPs in the week ended 18 February.

    As per TAM data (C&S, 4+, HSM), the channel has clocked 298 GRPs (gross rating points), up from 273 GRPs in the previous week. The addition of the points can be attributed to the telecast of ‘mahaepisode’ of Star Plus’ fiction property Yeh Rishta Kyaa Kehlata Hai on 18 February that recorded 3.7 TVR.

    Star Plus also aired Bodyguard on Sunday that registered 1.8 TVR. The top fiction shows of the channel have also seen an improvement in performance.

    Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment Television has maintained its second rank, even though it added just one GRP to end the week with 210 GRPs. The channel is expected to show a rise in ratings next week as it telecast Filmfare Awards on 19 February.

    However, Colors and Zee TV lost eyeballs and closed the week with 193 GRPs (last week 208) and 179 GRPs (last week 202) respectively. Both the channels slipped below the 200-GRP mark.

    Colors had added 18 GRPs last week with the telecast of special programme Umang, while Zee TV had a boost of over 32 GRPs on the back of Zee Cine Awards 2012.

    Sony’s second GEC, Sab, lost one GRP to clock 141 GRPs while Star Network’s sibling channel Life OK lost 9 GRPs to end the week with 78 GRPs (last week 87).

    Imagine TV with 58 GRPs (last week 57) is next in the ladder.

    Zee TV launches interactive print campaign for ‘Punarvivaah’

    MUMBAI: In order to promote its latest fiction property Punarvivaah, Zee TV has launched an interactive print campaign to elicit response from the readers.

    The channel is publishing multi-lingual print ads across all major publications in the country.

    The ad prompts a public opinion on the subject of the show – remarriage. It urges the reader to reply with a missed call to the numbers indicated. The copy of the ad reads – “Can two shattered lives be rebuilt on hope? Do widows and divorcees deserve a chance to remarry?” One can share their ‘Yes‘ or ‘No‘ through two separate telephone numbers and register their opinions.

    The channel had earlier implemented this strategy for its popular dancing reality show, Dance India Dance.

    Punarvivaah is launching tonight at 10.30 pm slot. It delves into the dynamics of remarriage, showcasing the trials and tribulations that are a part of readjusting to a second life partner.

    MUMBAI: Two of the top three general entertainment channels, Sony and Colors, have lost eyeballs while genre leader Star Plus has seen a mild gain in ratings over the earlier week.

    Star Plus added 3 GRPs (gross rating points) during the week ended 4 February to end with 309 GRPs (last week 306) according to TAM data for the Hindi speaking markets (C&S, 4+).

    The channel leads most of the primetime slots with its five shows in the top 10 GEC list. The top 4 ranked shows are its fiction properties, Saathiya Saath Nibhana (6.21 TVR), Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (6.18 TVR), Diya Aur Baati Hum (6.1 TVR) and Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (4.70). Star Plus‘ Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai occupied the 9th spot with a rating of 3.90.

    Set, meanwhile, lost 20 GRPs. Though the position of the channel on the GEC rating chart remained the same, it clocked 217 GRPs (last week 237).

    Viacom18‘s flagship channel Colors becomes the biggest loser of the week, shedding 26 GRPs to end with 204 points. Last week, the channel had mopped up 230 GRPs, adding 30 points from the telecast of Screen Awards.

    Zee TV saw a 7 GRP rise in this week. Continuing to be the number 4 GEC, the channel ended the week with 179 GRPs (last week 172).

    Sab clocked 133 GRPs (last week 132), while Star‘s second GEC Life OK, rested with 83 GRPs (last week 85).

    Imagine TV with 55 GRPs (last week 61) and Sahara One with 48 GRPs (last week 45), stood at the bottom of the ladder.

    MUMBAI: Colors, the Hindi general entertainment channel from the Viacom 18 stable, has emerged as the biggest gainer in the week ended 28 January, as far as ratings are concerned.

    The channel added 30 GRPs (gross rating points) to its previous week‘s tally to end week with 230 GRPs as it was aided by the Screen Awards‘ telecast. However, it did not help the channel to better its position among the Hindi GEC ladder, and it remained behind Sony Entertainment Television (Set).

    As per TAM data for the week 4 of 2012 (HSM, C&S, 4+), the telecast of Colors Screen Awards on Sunday clocked an average TVR of 5.37 over a period of three-and-a-half hour. The repeat of the show was aired on Saturday, 28 January, which recorded 1.8 TVR. Colors also launched its sports entertainment reality show Ring Ka King on 28 January that registered a 2.2 TVR.

    Meanwhile, genre leader Star Plus has seen an improvement in its ratings. With addition of 13 GRPs, the channel has ended the week with 306 GRPs (last week 293). The top three most watched GEC properties were from Star Plus. After a long time, channel‘s fiction property Yeh Rishta…is at the No 1 position with 5.93 TVR while Saathiya Saath Nibhana has slipped to No 3 with 5.68 TVR.

    Set‘s ratings remained unchanged this week and the channel ended the week with 237 GRPs.

    For Zee TV, it was another black Wednesday, as the channel shed further 13 GRPs and closed with 172 GRPs (last week 185). Sab added one GRP and clocked 132 GRPs.

    Life OK, the second channel from the Star India stable, saw a dip in GRPs again. The channel that had reached to 100 GRPs in the third week of its launch has gone down to end the week with 85 GRPs (last week 87).

    Imagine TV with 61 GRPs (last week 65) and Sahara One with 45 GRPs (last week 42) followed.

    MUMBAI: Star Plus, Sony Entertainment Television (Set) and Zee TV, three among the top four Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs), have seen an upswing in ratings in the week ended 21 January, as per TAM (HSM, C&S, 4+). Colors, however, has seen a marginal drop.

    Star Plus has registered a 6-GRP (gross rating points) growth to close the week with 293 GRPs (last week 287). The leading channel’s shows, Saathiya Saath Nibhana (5.69 TVR) and Diya Aur Baati Hum (5.88 TVR), continue to lead the list of top rated shows. Another fiction show, Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (4.99 TVR) that failed to find any position in ‘the top 10 rated shows’ last week, hopped up to No.3 position in the list this week. The channel also aired the mahaepisode of its fiction property, Ruk Jana Nahi (1.1 TVR).

    Set too saw an improvement in the performance and added 11 GRPs to close the week with 237 GRPs (last week 226). The rise in the GRPs can be attributed to the improved ratings of its crime based shows, C.I.D (4.85 TVR) and Crime Patrol (4.53 TVR).

    Colors lost 8 GRPs and ended the week with 200 GRPs. However, the channel will see a jump in the ratings the next week as it aired Colors Screen Awards on Sunday.

    Zee TV, meanwhile, saw a marginal rise in the ratings. The channel collected 185 GRPs (last week 180) to its kitty, though no show of the channel figured in the top 10 list.

    Sab added a GRP and recorded 131 GRPs (last week 130).

    Meanwhile, the news is not so good for the newly launched channel from Star Network’s bouquet, Life OK. After seeing a dream run for three continuous weeks, the channel shed 13 GRPs this week, thus becoming the biggest loser of the week. The channel registered 87 GRPs (last week 100).

    Imagine TV with 65 GRPs (last week 58) and Sahara One with 42 GRPs (last week 38) followed behind, Tam data shows.

    MUMBAI: Zee TV’s flagship dancing reality show Dance India Dance (DID) has announced its tie-up with sportswear giant Reebok to launch apparel range and unveil the Top 18 contestants of the show.

    For this season of DID, the channel has ventured into an unexplored territory, the revenue sharing and licensing deal with Reebok.

    Reebok has designed a customised range of DID dance gear and will retail it in nearly 100 outlets across the country.

    Zeel head-marketing national channels Akash Chawla said, “The DID brand stands for great quality of dancing and extreme rigor. DID has always been a progressive brand which has been an aspiration to many. Taking this forward, this season we have ventured into a licensing contract with Reebok. This is a first at Zee TV that a costume range will be unveiled. As a part of this arrangement this will help us to extend our brands into new product categories to drive strategic growth for the company and will also help increase the popularity of the brand.”

    Reebok brand director Sajid Shamim added, “At Reebok, we have always focused our efforts on creating products that bring elements of life, sport and style together. Through this association with DID, we are celebrating fitness through the medium of dance which at its core is fun and enjoyable. We believe that the DID collection, has taken its inspiration from the various forms of dance.     Reebok’s association with DID is brought to life through a vibrant and dance inspired collection. This association brings together daily wear and value-added design elements. There are graphic T-shirts and hoodies for men, with ‘Born to Dance’ and ‘Live Love Dance’ written in bright neon colours. Special ‘DID’ dance pants are also available in black. The women’s collection has a ‘DID – Born to Dance’ racer back and flick pant for all the hardcore dancers.
