Zee Tamil announces launch of new reality show ‘Survivor’

Mumbai: Tamil GEC, Zee Tamil on Tuesday announced the launch of its upcoming reality show, Survivor. The hugely popular global reality show is adapted for the Tamil market by the content production and distribution company Banijay Asia.

Helmed by the production giant – Banijay, the franchise’s global success of Survivor is aptly reflected across every international adaptation of the show in multiple languages, resulting in a strong fan base world over. The show is the ultimate game of human survival designed to truly test every aspect of its contestant’s mental and physical strength, the multi-channel network said in a statement.

“As a channel, we have always committed ourselves to engage our audience with innovative content and variety in reality entertainment. Survivor will definitely set new benchmarks in reality show formats in India. From the production value to the portfolio of talent, Zee Tamil has truly embarked on a journey in partnership with Banijay Asia to redefine quality entertainment in the market,” said ZEEL, EVP and South cluster head, Siju Prabhakaran.

Zee Tamil announces special line-up of blockbuster movies for the weekend

New Delhi: Regional channel Zee Tamil is all set to entertain its viewers with a special line-up of blockbuster movies this weekend.

The channel will telecast the blockbuster movie Irumbu Thirai at 10.30 AM on 29 May. Directed by PS Mithran, this action thriller stars Vishal, Samantha, and Arjun Sarja in the lead roles.

In addition to this, Zee Tamil has announced the Indian television premiere of comedy-drama Cocktail at 1:30 PM on 29 May. Cocktail is directed by Ra Vijaya Murugan, and stars Yogi Babu, Rashmi Gopinath, Mithun Maheshwaran, KPY Bala, and Kawin in prominent roles. The hilarious plot follows the story of four men who end up with a dead girl in their flat. They try to dispose of the body but end up getting mixed up in the smuggling of a precious idol.

Prabhas’ high-voltage action thriller Saaho will be telecasted at 04.00 PM on 29 May, followed by the telecast of comedy flick Vantha Rajavathan Varuvein at 07.30 PM. On 30 May, the channel will telecast Biskoth – a one-of-a-kind parody-comedy film that was written and directed by R Kannan at 10.30 AM. The film stars Santhanam and Tara Alisha in the leading roles whilst Sowcar Janaki, Anandaraj, Motta Rajendran, and Aadukalam Naren play supporting roles.

The highlight of the weekend will be the world television premiere of Selvaragavan’s horror thriller Nenjam Marapadhillai. The film which stars S.J Surya, Nandhita, and Regina Cassandra will be telecasted at 1:30 PM on Sunday. The story revolves around a pious young woman who takes up the job of a nanny to a wealthy family and tries to stay out of the way of her married employer’s perverse and lustful plans.

Bale Khiladi starring Nani and Lavanya Tripathi in lead roles will be telecasted at 04.30 PM on Sunday. Bringing an end to this celebration of cinema is the premiere of Kodiveeran starring Sasikumar and Mahima Nambiar in lead roles at 7 PM.

Zee Tamil to uplift spirits with Labour Day special movies and shows

MUMBAI: Zee Tamil has unveiled its line-up of special movies and shows for Labour Day, 1 May. In a recent statement, the channel revealed that it is aiming to distract viewers from the panic state ”with a dose of positive entertainment that they can enjoy with their family in the safety and comfort of their homes”.

On 1 May, at 09.30 AM, Zee Tamil will screen Thalapathy Vijay’s blockbuster movie Mersal. The film directed by Atlee was a massive hit upon its release, and it has sufficient doses of action and emotion to enthral audiences. Apart from Vijay, the film also stars SJ Surya, Nithya Menon, Samantha Akkineni, and Kajal Agarwal in other prominent roles.

At 1 PM, the channel will premiere the action thriller film Mirugaa. Directed by debutante Parthiban, the film stars Srikanth and Raai Laxmi in the lead roles, along with Dev Gill, Abhishek Shankar, Naira Shah, and Vaishnavi Chandran in other important roles. The action thriller film has a uniquely interesting plot where a serial killer gets married to a billionaire with the sole aim of looting her money. However, the presence of a man-eating tiger around them shatters his plans.

At 03.30 PM, another action movie Ithu Yennoda Jilla will be screened on Zee Tamil. The movie is the Tamil dubbed version of the Telugu blockbuster Arvinda Sametha Veera Raghava starring Jr. NTR, Pooja Hegde, and Jagapathi Babu in the lead roles.

From 07.30 PM, audiences can enjoy their favourite serials on Zee Tamil.

In the statement, the network has also urged people to stay at home to protect themselves from exposure to the deadly pandemic.

“On this Labour Day, tune into Zee Tamil and witness fun and entertainment engross your mind, as we urge you to stay home and stay safe and avail vaccination, which will be key in our fight against the pandemic,” said the release.

Zee Tamil launches its latest fiction show Chithiram Pesuthadi

MUMBAI: Zee Tamil is known for its thought-provoking and compelling narratives which have gone on to become notable television classics. The channel is now set to launch yet another fiction show, to strengthen its original content in the afternoon time-band. The show will reflect Zee Tamil’s commitment towards progressive storytelling amplified by notable cast selections and a talented team of technicians.

Chithiram Pesuthadi is a progressive social drama delivering a strong message that a daughter is equal to a son in every way. The women-centric narrative of the serial attempts to break down gender stereotypes and shape the way society thinks about women’s rights and gender equality. The show will be telecasted on weekdays, from Monday to Saturday at 2:30 PM, only on Zee Tamil and Zee Tamil HD. Audiences can also enjoy the show at their leisure anytime on Zee5.

Set in late 90’s when female infanticide was still prevalent, the show follows the journey of Thangmayil – a hardworking and aspirational girl who aims to become an IPS officer to make her father realize the wrong he committed in rejecting her at birth. The character’s journey towards achieving this feat forms the crux of the story. The show can be viewed as an ode to the strong women of the 80’s and 90’s both in the reel world of television and the real world of gradual social transformation. Through its novel approach, Chithiram Pesuthadi aims to break the shackles of discrimination against women and present an inspiring story that has the power to shift perceptions and bring in a change of heart.

The stellar cast which includes Deepika.R as Thangmayil, Shiv Sathish as Jeeva, Baboos Baburaj as Gurumoorthy and Jeyashree as Gomathi among others, is sure to leave a lasting impression on the viewers with their performances.

Zee Tamil presents the world television premiere of ‘Saaho’

MUMBAI: It’s that time of the year again! As yet another year rolls by, Zee Tamil, in line with its commitment to provide the best in-class entertainment to its viewers, brings the world television premier (WTP) of Saaho. Buckle up and prepare for the ride of a lifetime as Saaho airs on 25 December at 2:30 pm only on Zee Tamil and Zee Tamil HD.

Written and directed by Sujeeth and filmed simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, Saaho stars Prabhas of the Bahubali fame, and Shraddha Kapoor. Popular actor Amit Bhargav plays the character of AJ and is accompanied by esteemed industry veterans including Actress Ambika, playing the mother of the hero and Professor Gnanasambandam, playing the father of the heroine. Zee Tamil Kutumbam Viruthugal 2020 wraps up

MUMBAI: Zee Tamil is back with the third season of the Zee Tamil Kutumbam Viruthugal 2020. The red carpet was rolled out to felicitate the stars and celebrate the talent within the channel.

This year, the Zee Tamil Kutumbam Viruthugal held a prelude event for the nomination process of best award categories while making the voting process for the favourite award categories completely digital. In keeping with the new normal, adhering to the government regulations, and most importantly in the interest of people’s safety, the award function was held in a restricted studio setup.

The evening was high on glitz, glamour and entertainment, with high-octane and fun-filled acts by the Zee Tamil Kutumbam. There was Nanda Master and Chandini’s special dance performance, Sree Kumar and Naksatra’s dance sequence, soulful and electrifying tunes sung by SaReGaMaPa stars, followed by Suryavamsam family performance to name a few. This year the stage & set-up was designed to give the viewers a complete cinematic theatre experience delivered to their TV screens.

The event was graced by Tamil Nadu minister D Jayakumar, and the who’s who of Kollywood – Vijay Sethupathi, Aishwarya Rajesh, Parthipan, Director Ameer, Bhagiyaraj, MS Baskar, Harish Kalyan, Singer Sreenivas, Manobala, RK Suresh, RK Selvamani, Cheran, Vijay Antony, Sharanya Turadi, Parvati Nair, Director & Actor Ramesh Kanna was present. Zee Tamil’s finest actors and brilliant technicians across all their fiction and non-fiction shows were honoured for their contribution to the channel.
