    Zee Kannada marks 14 years of grand success

    MUMBAI: Zee Kannada celebrates 14 glorious years of entertaining Kannada audiences from across India. Over the years, the channel’s variety of multi-genre offerings, from fiction shows to reality shows and talk shows have been reflective of its philosophy – ‘Bayasid'dha Bāgilu Tegiyōṇa'.

    At the beginning of the previous calendar year, Zee Kannada emerged as the number one channel for the first time in 13 years and has ever since continued to win the hearts of all Kannada audience.

    Zee Kannada brings Malgudi Days to small screen

    MUMBAI: Zee Kannada has launched Shankar Nag's Malgudi Days, starting 11 May, every weekday at 9.30 PM on its SD and HD platforms.

    Swami and friends will now be paying a visit to the homes of every Kannadiga with their sweet tales from the pre-independent era. The evergreen classic series enjoyed in the 80s and 90s will be introduced to the Gen Z.

    Be it the nostalgic soundtrack or to the location of the traditional house and the strong association the state of Karnataka, director Shankar Nag has ensured to make Malgudi Days the flavour this summer.

    MUMBAI: On the occasion of Dr Raj Kumar’s birthday on 24 April, ZEE Picchar is taking viewers down the lane of nostalgia by telecasting his blockbuster movies and an exclusive event.

    As the country battles COVID-19 pandemic, the channel has curated a library of titles that viewers can enjoy with their families from the comfort of their homes.

    ZEE Picchar, the destination for Sandalwood’s movies, has specially curated a line-up that includes movies like Nyayve Devru, Mayura, Mayor Muthanna, Bangarada Manushya and Bhagyada Bhagilu.

    The channel will also telecast the exclusive event Rajadhaniyalli Raj Rasasanje as a tribute to Dr Raj Kumar. With Dr Raj Kumar’s movie festival and the special event on 24 April, the channel is ready to entertain viewers.

In an already-cluttered market with players who are long-established, this position demonstrates the network’s strong resonance with the consumer interests and sentiments in Karnataka. With ZEE Kannada already holding the leadership position in the market for over a year now, ZEE network is all set to capture a sizeable share of the television viewership. ZEE Picchar’s launch has also been the most successful one the industry has seen in the last 3 years.

This week from 22 March – 25 March gear up for wholesome family entertainment filled with romance, drama and laughter with Zee Picchar’s curated exclusive World Television Premieres. Super-hit Kannada stars to visit homes through the television screens and inspire the audiences in tackling challenges in their everyday lives, thereby making their day everyday a hit day starting 7:00 PM 22 March only on Zee Picchar HD.

    Giving a movie marathon experience, the segment commenced with 12 premieres on 12 days as the channel’s launch is set to re-define movie viewing at home. From 14 March Zee Picchar has been showcasing one World Television Premiere each day at 7:00PM and the same will continue till 25 of March.

    22 March – Missing Boy:   

    A mix of drama and and adventure, the movie takes us through the life of Nischay, a top businessman in Europe. He has recurrent visions of railway tracks and an orphanage in India. Later, he discovers that he was adopted 25 years ago, and is perplexed as to who his birth parents are. He sets out on a trip to India to search for his parents with the help of a journalist, police officer and a cab driver. The real victory lies in the emotional portrayal of the journey to find his birth parents. Directed by Raghuram, the movie stars Gurunandan, Rangayana Raghu and Ravishankar Gowda in lead roled

    23 March – Vamshodharaka:

    A family drama film directed by Aditya Chikkanna and produced by actor Aravind Rathasapthami this movie stars Vijay Raghavendra and Meghana Raj. Vishwa returns from Bengaluru to his village after education as he believes farming is his true calling. What transpires then a is plethora of emotions ranging from love to revenge saga.

    24 March – Uppu Huli Khara:

    A comedy drama film written and directed by Imran Sardhariya, produced by M. Ramesh under the banner Tejeshwini Enterprises, The film stars Shashi Devraj, Malashri, Sharath, Anushree, B. Dhananjay, Jayashree and Shamanth Shetty in prominent roles. A shrewd and flamboyant police officer’s quest to catch the men behind a sensational bank robbery leads her to three youngsters. The plot thickens as the public interest, media attention and the surroundings of the investigation grows into a political issue. Are these youngsters who are under the shadow of suspicion clever criminals? Or are they innocent victims of an elaborate conspiracy?

    25 March – Ellidde Illi Tanaka:

    Ellidde Illi Tanaka is an action romantic family drama film, written by Arun Ramadass and directed by Tejaswi making his debut. It is produced by Srujan Lokesh under his banner Lokesh Productions. Surya was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Growing up in Australia, he had everything, but every decision in his life was made by his parents. Feeling suffocated, he decides to visit India during a gap year. What follows is a journey that will change Surya at every twist and turn, including old friends, a new job and his lady love.

    MUMBAI: Zee Picchar, the new movie channel from ZEEL for Kannada Cinema lovers, went on air from 1 March. 

    Home to the biggest and most popular movie titles, Zee Picchar’s library of 350+ movies stands synonymous to family entertainment. Along with its 12 premiers on 12 days, the channel’s launch is set to re-define movie viewing at home. From 14 March Zee Picchar has been showcasing one World Television Premieres each day at 7 PM; the same will continue till 25 March. The movies will span genres and generations with the best of thriller, action, comedy and romance and will serve as inspiration to audiences in tackling challenges in their everyday lives, thereby making their everyday a hit day.

    19 March – Jolly Baaru Mattu Poli Hudugaru:   

    Directed and produced by Kaaranji Shereedhar, this movie chronicles the life of Santhu, a pampered boy played by Krishna who is an heir apparent of a rich money lender mother, whose dream is to see him as an MLA. His life changes when he meets Gowri played by Mansi, a poor woman who owes his mother money. What happens when the mommy’s boy decides to do things his way forms the crux of the plot.

    20 March – Ondh Kathe Hella:

    A horror thriller that promises to leave audiences at the edge of their seats. Five friends from Bengaluru decide to head out for the weekend for a quick getaway. Their journey is peppered with horror stories narrated by each of them. They land at an eerie guesthouse, where their tales continue. Director Girish G presented an anthology of horror tales – a concept that hasn’t been often explored in Sandalwood.  

    21 March – Kalidasa Kannada Meshtru:

    Based on a crucial topic, and directed by Kaviraj, this movie stars Jaggesh and Meghana Gaonkar in lead roles and has the perfect amalgamation of comedy, drama and social messages. The story revolves around a middle-class family man names Kalidasa (played by renowned actor Jaggesh), who works as a Kannada teacher in a government school. He is ridiculed by his upper-class wife for his poor English. When the corrupt government decides to shut down the school, how will Kalidasa fight against the injustice single handedly forms the crux of the story.

    MUMBAI: After winning the hearts of Kannadigas with their progressive shows and lovable characters with Zee Kannada, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) is set to further strengthen its foothold in Karnataka, this time with the soon-to-be launched Kannada movie channel, Zee Picchar.

    Launching on 1 March 2020, Zee Picchar, the channel boasts of a wide spectrum of films across genres and generations from the industry’s finest stars. With a robust library of 350+ films that includes not just some of the highest ever rated movies on television like Kurukshetra, Doddmane Huduga, Pailwaan , Hebbuli, The villain, but also all-time hits like Mayura, Jogi, Milana, Bul Bul, the channel is all set to provide entertainment like never before to the sandalwood movie fans and leave them with a ‘Hit Dinada Feeling’.

    The first look of Zee Picchar was unveiled on-air on Zee Kannada on 9 February with a promotional video, introducing it as the ultimate destination for fans of Sandalwood movies. For the first time ever in Karnataka, the channel is set to telecast 12 Picchar Premieres in 12 consecutive days, in its first month of launch and will also telecast a ‘only one break’ movie at 1:00 PM every day.
