    BARC Week 3: Bhojpuri Cinema claims lead in Bhojpuri GEC genre

    MUMBAI: The third week of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India data witnessed Bhojpuri Cinema claiming its leadership position back from Big Magic Ganga, which was the leader in the Bhojpuri GEC genre in week 2. 

     

    On the other hand, other regional channel leaders continued to dominate their respective genres.

     

    Bangala GECs
     

    Star Jalsha remained in the first position with 245951 (‘000s) followed by Zee Bangla in the second place with 147074 (‘000s). Jalsha Movies stayed on the third pole with 66295 (‘000s). Zee Bangla Cinema with 41069 (‘000s) and Colors Bangla with 33826 (‘000s) stood at the fourth and fifth position respectively. 

     

    Bhojpuri GECs

     

    In this week’s data, Bhojpuri Cinema emerged as the number one channel with 20844 (‘000s) followed in the second rung by Big Magic Ganga with 10430 (‘000s), which was in the first slot last week, Dabangg retained its third position with 9327 (‘000s), while Dangal TV with 6703 (‘000s) grabbed the fourth spot. ETV Bihar Jharkhand with 3565 (‘000s) stood in the fifth slot.

     

    Kannada GECs

     

    Colors Kannada retained its leadership position with 298660 (‘000s). Udaya Movies stood at the number two position with 151706 (‘000s) followed by Suvarna with 150918 (‘000s) in third place. While Udaya TV stood in the fourth position with 141511 (‘000s), while Zee Kannada bagged the fifth spot with 137970 (‘000s).

     

    Marathi GECs

     

    In week 3, Zee Marathi maintained its top position with 177406 (‘000s). Colors Marathi grabbed the second slot with 95476 (‘000s) and Zee Talkies stood at number three with 59153 (‘000s). Star Pravah garnered the fourth slot with 45468 (‘000s) and Maiboli was at number five with 22994 (‘000s).

     

    Malayalam GECs

     

    Asianet secured the leadership position in the genre with 375213 (‘000s) followed by Mazhavil Manorama in the second spot with 98950 (‘000s). Following it was Flowers TV with 76016 (‘000s) in the third rung. Asianet Movies came in fourth with 59365 (‘000s), whereas Surya TV with 52931 (‘000s) stood on the fifth berth.

     

    Oriya GECs

     

    Sarthak TV secured the leadership position in the genre with 106117 (‘000s) followed by Tarang TV in the second spot with 53934 (‘000s), while Colors Oriya came third with 20239 (‘000s). Odisha TV bagged the fourth spot with 13923 (‘000s) and Prameya News 7 with 9129 (‘000s) took the fifth berth.

     

    Tamil GECs

    Sun TV retained its leadership position with 969791 (‘000s), while KTV followed in the second position with 282331 (‘000s). Star Vijay stood third with 210192 (‘000s), whereas Polimer with 97732 (‘000s) was in the fourth position. Kalaignar TV bagged the fifth spot with 83628 (‘000s).

     

    Telugu GECs

     

    ETV Telugu emerged as the number one channel in the Telugu GEC genre and grabbed number one position with 400566 (‘000s) followed by Zee Telugu in second place with 388443 (‘000s) and Gemini TV in the third spot with 365872 (‘000s). Maa TV with 352350 (‘000s) bagged the fourth place, while Gemini Movies with 194995 (‘000s) stood at number five.

    Zee Kannada spruces up weekends with new seasons of two non-fiction shows

    MUMBAI: Come 26 December, Zee Kannada is all set to bring back two of its popular weekend non-fiction shows namely Sa Re Ga Ma Pa season 11 and Weekend with Ramesh season 2. 

     

    Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Season 11 saw approximately 8500 people between the age group 18-80 taking part in the auditions, out of which 30 best singers were selected from Udupi, Shivamogga, Gadag, Mysore, Yadgir, Bellary, Bangalore and various other places of Karnataka.

     

    Mentoring and channelising this talent will be the judges namely singer Vijay Prakash, composer Arjun Janya and Rajesh Krishnan. To add glamour and fun, Anushree will continue as the host of this season too. 

     

    In Weekend with Ramesh Season -2, actor – director Ramesh Arvind will take the centre stage and will narrate real life stories of reel life stars. The show will unravel what happens behind the scenes as well as showcase celebs and their lives. Arvind will take the audience on an inside journey with the celebrities through all walks of their lives.

     

    While Sa Re Ga Ma Pa will be aired at 7.30 pm, Weekend with Ramesh will be aired at 9 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

    Siju Prabhakaran to head the Zee Tamil business

    MUMBAI: Zee Kannada business head Siju Prabhakaran, will now take over as the business head – Zee Tamil. He replaces N S Easwaran who has decided to move out of ZEE.

     

    Prabhakaran has been with ZEE for over 15 years now and has experience in sales as well. He will report to ZEEL MD and CEO Punit Goenka.

     

    Elaborating on his new role Prabhakaran said, “Tamil Nadu is a market with huge potential. This is one market where television viewing is a habit that is quite difficult to break. I’m looking forward to bringing the necessary changes to this habit that will benefit Zee Tamil and help us grow in leaps and bounds.”

    Zee Kannada to launch ‘Mahadevi’ on 14 September

    MUMBAI: Zee Kannada is all set to launch a new show called Mahadevi from 14 September onwards.

     

    The show is an enthralling and electric saga of mystery, devotion and magic. After the first edition of the franchise, Devi, three years ago, Mahadevi will be aired from Monday to Saturday in the 8.30 pm slot.

     

    The show’s protagonist – Tripura Sundari is a typical village girl, who works at the temple, cleaning and decorating the goddess’s abode. However, her disbelief towards the goddess goes deeper to her past incarnation.

     

    Ramesh Indira, who helmed the success of Devi will direct the next instalment of the franchise as well. The show is produced by Shruti Naidu.

    MUMBAI: Amagi Media Lab and Zee Entertainment Enterprise Limited (Zeel) have furthered their partnership by adding Zee Cinema to their list of channels that serve geo-targeted TV ads. 

     

    A significant development, Zee Cinema will now give advertisers targeted access to over 158.6 million viewers and coverage across 16 markets where Amagi has the capability to deliver geo-targeted content. 

     

    The 16 markets are: Delhi-NCR, UP, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, North-east, J&K, Mumbai, Rest of Maharashtra, MPCG, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and All India- direct-to-home (DTH). 

     

    Zee Cinema gets added to the list of high-viewership channels, which are already on Amagi platform that includes: Zee News, Zee TV, Zee Marathi, Zee Kannada and Zee Bangla (for Bangladesh).

     

    In a diverse market such as India, Amagi’s platform offers advertisers the benefits of targeted reach and increased relevance in key markets.     Zeel expands into Odisha; acquires Sarthak Entertainment for Rs 115 crore

    MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) has acquired 100 per cent equity stake in Sarthak Entertainment Pvt Ltd which operates Sarthak TV, the Odia language general entertainment channel (GEC). 

     

    The acquisition will be from current shareholders of Sarthak Entertainment, subject to requisite regulatory approvals, as an all-cash deal at a consideration of maximum of Rs 115 crores.

     

    With this, Zeel has entered the rapidly expanding regional market in Odisha. This acquisition further strengthens its already dominant line-up of regional channels.

     

    Sarthak TV would complement Zeel’s regional bouquet of channels viz. Zee Marathi, Zee Talkies, Zee Bangla, Zee Bangla Cinema, Zee Telugu, Zee Kannada and Zee Tamizh.

     

    Zeel MD and CEO Punit Goenka said, “We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Sarthak as we continue to invest in tomorrow.     Zee Kannada to premiere first episode of ‘Gruhalakshmi’ online

    MUMBAI: In a first of sorts, Zee Kannada will premiere the first episode of its new show Gruhalakshmi on the digital platform for its audience.

     

    On 8 June at 4.30 pm, Zee Kannada will showcase the first episode of Gruhalakshmi on its website (www.zeekannadatv.com), which is two hours prior to the telecast of the show on the channel. Zee Kannada will air Gruhalakshmi from Monday – Saturday at 6.30 pm.

     

    Gruhalakshmi revolves around Lakshmi – a simple girl – who finished her degree from a small town and has entered the rich household of Bangalore as Raghav’s wife, a construction company owner. After being brought up in a rural middle class background, educated in a Kannada medium school, she is constantly trying to adjust and adapt to her husband’s elite class, her children’s English medium education, their love of English movies, entertainment, burgers and pizzas. She has enrolled herself in cooking, driving, spoken English classes to please her family. All is well until Lakshmi is diagnosed with blood cancer. The story takes a surprise in every step taken by Lakshmi.

     

    Sanathini essays the role of Lakshmi. The show is produced and directed by Krishna, who is a cinematographer and director in the Kannada film industry. Selvam has written the story and screenplay.

     

    For the first time in south Indian TV industry, the serial will be completely shot in Red Epic camera.

    MUMBAI: With an aim to enable TV viewers across the world to catch Indian TV shows from anywhere in the world, YuppTV has now launched a bouquet of channels from the Zee group across the Middle East.

     

    The channels that have been launched are: Zee TV Middle East, Zee Cinema International, &TV Middle East, Zee Telugu, Zee Bangla Movies, Zee Living, Zee Bangla, Zee Marathi, Zee Kannada, Zing, Zee News and Zee Smile. More channels from the Zee stable are likely to be added on the platform soon.

    MUMBAI: Zee Kannada will be launching a musical game show called Simpallagondu Singing Show from 4 April.

     

    After delivering a series of successful weekend non-fiction shows like Weekend with RameshLife Super Guru and Divided, Zee Kannada is back with a new game show, which comprises fun, laughter, craziness and a lot of music.

     

    Actor Arun Sagar, who is known for his comic punches and spontaneous sense of humour, will host the show.

     

    The uniqueness of the show lies in its format, which has four rounds with music as its key. All four rounds will have lot of singing and entertainment dosage to keep the contestants on their toes and to perform to their best and take home the cash prize

     

    Tension, excitement and curiosity will be built proportionally with rounds like Guessing the missing lyrics, identifying the song through images, obstacle round, guessing the song sung by a foreigner will keep the momentum building.

     

    This musical game show is been produced by Angel media works and will be aired every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm.
