    Zee Kannada emerges a leader – a first-for the channel in 13 years

    MUMBAI: As per the recently released BARC weekly data (Urban + Rural) for the first week of the year 2019, Zee Kannada has claimed the top position in the Kannada market with a total of 415697 impressions ‘000s; 171167 impressions ‘000s in the urban market, 244530 in the rural market, with robust growth across its prime-time fiction shows. Continuing to hold the leadership position in the Urban market for the last 12 weeks, Zee Kannada has now earned the distinction of being the leader for the first time in the last 13 years.

    Taking to the challenge of reaching the market leader position, Zee Kannada has secured 260314 impressions ‘000s in its prime-time band, with its top shows including Yaare Nee Mohini, Paaru, and Brahmangantu. The channel has also secured leadership position across its prime-time slots in the Non-Fiction shows such a SRGMP15 & Drama Juniors 3.

    MUMBAI: No changes were observed in Bengali, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Marathi and Telugu cluster in BARC data week 52. In the Malayalam space, Mazhavil Manorama and Flowers TV swapped their second and third positions. Moreover, Zee Tamil and Vijay TV interchanged their second and third positions in the Tamil market.

    Bangla

    No changes were observed in the Bengali space. Zee Bangla, Star Jalsha, Jalsha Movies, Colors Bangla and Sony Aath retained their first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 386897 impressions '000s, 325757 impressions '000s, 66014 impressions '000s, 62484 impressions '000s and 55477 impressions '000s.   

    Bhojpuri

    No changes were observed in Bhojpuri space. Big Ganga, Bhojpuri Cinema, Bhojpuri Dhamaka Dishum, Housefull Action and News18 Bihar Jharkhand continued to be on first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions with 46064 impressions '000s, 39489 impressions '000s, 13030 impressions '000s, 5466 impressions '000s and 2342 impressions '000s respectively.

    Kannada

    Colors Kannada, Zee Kannada, Udaya TV, Udaya Movies and Star Suvarna continued to be on first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 419903 impressions '000s, 408132 impressions '000s and 219586 impressions '000s, 199272 impressions '000s and 163705 impressions '000s.

    Malayalam

    Asianet, the Malayalam general entertainment channel from Star TV retained its first position with 287847 impressions '000s. Mazhavil Manorama and Flowers TV swapped their second and third positions respectively with 117863 impressions '000s and 111054 impressions '000s. Surya TV and Asianet Movies also continued to be on fourth and fifth positions with 103391 impressions '000s and 68863 impressions '000s.

    Marathi

    Zee Marathi, Colors Marathi, Star Pravah and Zee Talkies and Zee Yuva continued to be in first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 347766 impressions '000s, 156468 impressions '000s, 124342 impressions '000s, 109910 impressions '000s and 51346 impressions '000s.

    Tamil

    Sun TV retained its first position with 937052 impressions '000s. Zee Tamil and Vijay TV interchanged their second and third positions with 549439 impressions '000s and 524356 impressions '000s respectively. KTV and Adithya TV continued to be in fourth and fifth positions respectively with 366937 impressions '000s and 119183 impressions '000s.

    Telugu

    Star Maa, Zee Telugu, ETV Telugu, Gemini TV and Gemini Movies hold on to their first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 733243 impressions '000s, 606478 impressions '000s, 469008 impressions '000s, 439597 impressions '000s and 199017 impressions '000s.

    Zee Kannada to launch a first-of-its-kind horror thriller fiction show – Aatmabandhana

    MUMBAI: Zee Kannada, every Kannadiga household’s hub of entertainment, further strengthens its fiction band with innovative content post the successful launch of Paaru. Aatmabandhana, is a story narrating the never-ending love between a mother and her son; and how even death cannot put an end to emotions, ranging from love to revenge. . The channel is all prepped to make its ardent audience enter the paranormal world with their new horror-thriller fictional show Aatmabandhana, on-air every weeknight starting 17th December at 10:30 PM only on Zee Kannada and Zee Kannada HD.

    Aatmabandhana is about a five-year-old boy, Chiru, who believes that his mother, Arati, prefers his sister, Chaitra over him. In an unfortunate turn of events, Aarti along with her children, Chiru and Chaitra, meet with a road accident, and Aarti is only able to save Chaitra. Arati believes that even during Chiru's last breath, she made him feel that she chose Chaitra over him. Aarti, with the help of her maid, goes to a place to ask for forgiveness to his son’s soul, when his soul returns to vindicate his death against his mother.

    The cast of Aatmabandhana comprises of the marvellous actor Rajini Amrutha who plays the pivotal role of the mother, Aarti. The talented actor Master Alaap, former Drama Juniors Season 2 contestant, who portrays the role of Chiru, and dynamic child actor Shivaani, portrays the role of the sister, Chaitra. The other actors includeLakshmigowda, Suresh Rai, Ramamurthy, Rajesh, Nethra Sindhya, Sunethra Padit. The show is directed by well-known director G. K. Satishkrishnan and produced by ingenious Mahesh Gowda and Dr. Suma under Dvija Creations banner.  The cinematography is executed by Santhosh Begankal koppa while the story expansion and screenplay is compassed by S. Selvam and Girish Kalkoppa’s team. The credit for the dialogues, music and title song goes to Rathnagiri, Vinay, and Harshapriya respectively. The graphics design is done by Mumbai's Mudra Graphics of 'Ughe Ughe Madeshwara' fame that will ensure to take the viewers entertainment quotient to a whole new level.

    Commenting on the launch, Sathiskrishnan, Director said, “We see Aatmabandhana growing in the hearts of every Kannadiga audience as it has been crafted keeping the viewers of all age groups in mind. With an aim of keeping the audience at the edge of their seats, the staggering graphics will create new experience for viewers in every episode.”

    MUMBAI: BARC data for week 48 shows that in the Bengali space, Zee Bangla and Star Jalsha continued to be in the first and second positions. No changes were observed in Bhojpuri, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil segment. In the Telugu space, Star Maa retained its first position. Sony Marathi emerged as the new player in the Marathi space.

    Bangla

    Zee Bangla and Star Jalsha continued to be in first and second positions with 362811 impressions '000s and 309608 impressions '000s respectively.  Jalsha Movies, Colors Bangla and Aakash Aath stood at 69124 impressions '000s, 65304 impressions '000s and 56837 impressions ‘000s respectively.

    Bhojpuri

    Big Ganga, Bhojpuri Cinema, Bhojpuri Dhamaka Dishum, Housefull Action and Oscar Movies Bhojpuri retained their first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions with 40461 impressions '000s, 35791 impressions '000s, 10852 impressions '000s, 6625 impressions '000s and 3186 impressions '000s respectively. 

    Kannada

    No changes were observed in this segment.     Asianet, the Malayalam general entertainment channel from Star TV retained its first position with 302637 impressions '000s. Flowers TV, Mazhavil Manorama, Surya TV and Asianet Movies also continued to be second, third, fourth and fifth positions with 111067 impressions '000s, 85709 impressions '000s, 75191 impressions '000s and 64645 impressions '000s respectively.

    Marathi

    Zee Marathi continued to be in the first position with 419693 impressions '000s. Colors Marathi and Star Pravah interchanged their second and third positions respectively with 147991 impressions '000s and 147486 impressions '000s. Zee Talkies continued to be in fourth position with 117349 impressions '000s. Sony Marathi emerged as the new player in the Marathi space with 46835 impressions '000s.

    Tamil

    No changes were observed in the Tamil space. Sun TV, Zee Tamil, Star Vijay and KTV and Adithya TV retained their first, second, third and fourth positions respectively with 927254 impressions '000s, 526195 impressions '000s, 508744 impressions '000s, 342071 impressions '000s and 106244impressions '000s.

    Telugu

News18 Bihar Jharkhand emerged as the new player in the market by securing fifth position. No changes were observed in the Kannada and Marathi segments. In the Tamil space, Sun Life emerged as the new player. Moreover, in the Telugu segment, ETV Telugu and Gemini TV swapped their third and fourth positions.

    Bangla

    No changes were observed in this space. Zee Bangla, Star Jalsha and Jasha Movies continued to be at first and second positions respectively with 363169 impressions '000s, 324136 impressions '000s and 77070 impressions '000s. Colors Bangla and Sony Aath swapped their fourth and fifth positions respectively with 70626 impressions '000s and 63318 impressions '000s.

    Bhojpuri

    Big Ganga, Bhojpuri Cinema, Bhojpuri Dhamaka Dishum and Housefull Action retained their first, second, third and fourth positions with 47653 impressions '000s, 41595 impressions '000s, 12942 impressions '000s and 6598 impressions '000s respectively. News18 Bihar Jharkhand emerged as the new player in the market by securing fifth position with 2475 impressions '000s.

    Kannada

    No changes were observed in this segment.     Asianet, the Malayalam general entertainment channel from Star TV and Flowers TV retained its first position this week as well with 289415 impressions '000s and 101740 impressions '000s respectively. Surya TV and Mazhavil Manorama interchanged their third and fourth positions with 86149 impressions ‘000s and 80368 impressions '000s respectively. Asianet movies continued to be on fifth position with 74220 impressions '000s.

    Marathi

    No changes were observed in this sector. Zee Marathi, Colors Marathi, Star Pravah, Zee Talkies and Zee Yuva continued to be on first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively with 417072 impressions '000s, 129784 impressions '000s, 124154 impressions '000s, 108761 impressions '000s and 34519 impressions '000s.

    Tamil

    Sun TV, Zee Tamil, Star Vijay and KTV retained their first, second, third and fourth positions respectively with 907099 impressions '000s, 527803 impressions '000s, 496202 impressions '000s and 340920 impressions '000s. Sun Life emerged as the new player in the segment with 92106 impressions '000s.  

    Telugu

    Star Maa and Zee Telugu continued to be at first and second positions with 674105 impressions '000s and 536410 impressions '000s respectively. ETV Telugu and Gemini TV swapped their third and fourth positions respectively with 445598 impressions '000s and 445364 impressions '000s.     MUMBAI: Zee Kannada has unveiled a new brand identity and launched its HD version. The launch took place in a grand ceremony at the Zee Kutumba Awards 2018.

    Based on the insights from extensive consumer research, Zee Kannada understood that the Kannadiga woman has always been nurturing and caring, but her canvas of expression for ages was limited to a homemaker. The network has revealed its new brand proposition, 'Bayasid'dha Bāgilu Tegiyōṇa', which translates to “Open Doors to Possibilities”, to inspire viewers, especially women, to take initiatives and rise above circumstances to craft their own destiny.

    Zee Kannada business head Raghavendra Hunsur said, “Over the last 12 years, Zee Kannada has earned the dominance of being the entertainment hub in the Kannada television market. With a refreshed brand purpose, we strive to inspire our viewers to break their barriers and look beyond their limits to achieve the unachievable. A new fiction show launch is scheduled for later this year – Paru, the story of a poor girl falling in love with a rich boy and having to overcome limitations in a home that thrives in a strong class conflict scenario.

    Zee Kannada to launch new show ‘Comedy Khiladigalu Championship’

    MUMBAI: After two successful seasons of Comedy Khiladigalu, ZEEL’s regional channel Zee Kannada is all set to maximise its fun and entertainment with the launch of its new show Comedy Khiladigalu Championship, which will air every weekend starting 7 July at 9 pm.

    The show will be hosted by Master Anand and will also feature performers like KR Pette, Nayana, GG, Suraj, Appanna, and Surya as the team captains. Mentors and celebrity judges Jaggesh, Rakshita and Yograj Bhat will also return to the reality show. The comedy program will have contestants from Comedy Khiladigalu being divided into six teams.

    The new show will have a jury panel of comedians from the Sandalwood industry, which participates and guides its respective teams through each round. The winner will be chosen from the top four teams in a grand finale, all competing for a prize money of Rs 10 lakh.

The event saw over 2000 music enthusiasts attend the live concert and regale in soulful melodies.

    Known for his extraordinary music, the concert saw Arjun Janya perform some of his high-octane songs. The highlight of the evening was an energised face off between Vijay Prakash and Arjun Janya that received a vibrant applause and appreciation from the fans.

    MUMBAI: ETV Telugu replaced Zee Telugu and grabbed leadership position in week 14 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India data. In the Bangla GEC space, Colors Bangla made its entry inthe top five again while ABP Ananda exited the list.  On the other hand in Kannada GEC, Suvrana replaced Zee Kannada at second position in week 14.

    Bangla GECs

    Star Jalsha continued to be at the number one position in the Bangla GEC space with 196633 Impressions (000’s). Zee Bangla stood at the second berth with 130119 Impressions (000’s) followed by Jalsha Movies in the third position with 48837 Impressions (000’s). ABP Ananda exited the top five list in week 14.

    Zee Bangla Cinema bagged the fourth slot with 33418 Impressions (000’s) while Colors Bangla entered the top five channels this week at number five with 29263 Impressions (000’s).

    Bhojpuri GECs

    Big Ganga retained the pole position with 16765 Impressions (000’s) followed by Bhojpuri Cinema at the second position with 9922 Impressions ( 000’s). Dangal TV bagged the third slot with 6434 Impressions (000’s). Dabangg with 5674 Impressions (000’s) was on fourth slot and Oscar Movies Bhojpuri with 2577 Impressions (000’s) was on the fifth position respectively.

    ETV Telugu became number one channel in Telugu GEC with 409782 Impressions (000’s) and pushed down Zee Telugu to number two with 398788 Impressions (000’s).  Maa TV remained at the third berth with 392493 Impressions’ 000 while Gemini TV bagged the fourth position with 338823 Impressions’ 000. Gemini Movies took the  fifth position with 167823 Impressions’ 000.

    With no change in the position, Sun TV  continues to top the Tamil GEC with 926201 Impressions (000’s) followed by KTV at second position with 257879 Impressions (000’s). Star Vijay held the third position with 145536 Impressions (000’s). Zee Tamil with 107402 Impressions (000’s) and Polimer with 69781 Impressions (000’s)grabbed the fourth and fifth position respectively.

    Telugu GECs

    ETV Telugu became number one channel in Telugu GEC with 409782 Impressions (000’s) and pushed down Zee Telugu to number two with 398788 Impressions (000’s).  Maa TV remained at the third berth with 392493 Impressions’ 000 while Gemini TV bagged the fourth position with 338823 Impressions’ 000. Gemini Movies took the  fifth position with 167823 Impressions’ 000.
