    ZEEL’s Akash Chawla replaces Pradeep Hejmadi as Business Head of Zee TV

    MUMBAI: ZEEL has elevated Akash Chawla and Deepak Rajadhyaksha for key roles in Zee TV to drive the organizations goals.

    In addition to his current portfolio as Business Head- Essel Vision Productions Limited/Zee Studios, Chawla will now also take charge as the Business Head of Zee TV. In his earlier broadcasting stint, Chawla has successfully spearheaded the marketing function for the flagship and national channels like ZeeTV, Zee Cinema and Zee Classic.

    He has also played a pivotal role in the launch of channels like &pictures, Zee Anmol and Zindagi. All the functions of Zee TV like marketing, research and PR will align with Chawla.

    Meanwhile, Deepak Rajadhyaksha, who has been successfully leading the role as the Business Head of Zee Marathi, will now take charge as the Deputy Business Head, Zee TV. He will report to Akash Chawla. The entire programming, OAP and Operations team would align and report to Rajadhyaksha.The duo will work closely with ZEEL – MD & CEO, Punit Goenka to bring Zee TV towards its leadership journey.

    Zee Hindi movie cluster bags seven awards at The Asian Customer Engagement Forum (ACEF) awards

    MUMBAI: The Asian Customer Engagement Forum (ACEF) awarded Zee Hindi Movies Cluster including Zee Cinema, &pictures and Zee Classic amongst others with seven awards recently in Mumbai. Zee Cinema bagged two gold awards, &pictures won one gold and two bronze awards, and Zee Classic is awarded with one gold and one bronze award. 

    Zee Hindi Movies Cluster Business Head Ruchir Tiwari commented, “We are extremely happy to have won seven awards at ACEF awards which is a global platform for recognition in the industry. It keeps us motivated to entertain our viewers in the best way we can.”

    Zee Cinema  won the prestigious gold award in the Innovation category for LUX Zee Cine Awards 2016. The mobile campaign reached out to a whopping 1.3 million users where people were creatively engaged in interactive activities. The channel won another gold award for efficient effectiveness of Digital Marketing for the promotion of World Television Premiere of Singh is Bliing. The campaign encompassed all social media platforms with the objective of reaching out to the maximum number of people.  

    &pictures won the gold award for Best Use of Celebrity Endorsement in the online media category for the World Television Premiere of Badlapur. A trade mailer idea was conceptualized in which the mail appears to be a letter written by Varun Dhawan, the lead actor of the movie. A bronze award was given for innovation in the Newspaper category for the promotion of Badlapur. The print advertorial conveyed the high points of the story of the movie Badlapur, in the form of news articles. Lastly, the channel also won a Bronze award for showcasing creativity in the Newspaper category for promoting the &pictures premiere of Tanu Weds Manu Returns. The print ad was made in the format of a wedding invitation card, inviting readers to attend the crazy wedding and figure out who finally gets married.

    Zee Classic won the esteemed gold ACEF award for innovation in the Publication category for its very successful movie festival – Classic Debut. To endorse the festival, channel along with IMPACT magazine contacted fourteen well known media personalities of current times and published a 4 page advertorial highlighting the debut of these personalities in the industry. The channel also won a bronze award for innovation in the Out of Home Media category for the Zee Classic Train Activity done for “The Golden Years with Javed Akhtar”. Local trains in Mumbai were selected and were exclusively branded as Zee Classic Radio trains along with playing classic melodies and untold stories narrated by the veteran lyricist and poet, Javed Akhtar.

The new show, a musical journey with Javed Akhtar, is a celebration of 25 years of timeless music. The Golden Years 1950 -1975 is produced by EVPL, presented by Dettol, co-powered by State Bank of India and Good Knight Fast Card.

    Local trains in Mumbai are exclusively branded as Zee Classic Radio trains. These trains are playing classic melodies along with the untold stories narrated by the veteran lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar through their in-built sound system. This pioneering activity will not only entertain lakhs of daily commuters of local trains, but also offer them a respite from the humdrum of a busy city life says Zee Classic.

    Zee Classic lines up Bimal Roy Film Festival in February

    MUMBAI: Zee Classic is gearing up to present an ode to the pioneer of Indian cinema – Bimal Roy by celebrating noteworthy work from the golden era.

     

    Commemorating Roy’s 50th death anniversary, Zee Classic will celebrate the life and work of the legendary filmmaker with the Bimal Roy Film Festival, which will be presented by Boman Irani.

     

    Irani will present some of extraordinary and undiscovered facts and trivia about the filmmaker whose films, even after five decades, are still innovative and relevant today. In a five-part weekly series, the channel will showcase Roy’s awe-inspiring films every Saturday at 8 pm starting with Do Bigha Zamin on 6 February followed by Devdas on 13 February, Madhumati on 20 February, Sujata on 27 February andBandini on 5 March.

     

    The channel has roped in State Bank of India as the co-powered by sponsor for the festival.

     

    Satyajit Ray referred to Roy as the ‘Pioneer of Indian Cinema.’ He was known to be everyone’s first choice as a director and he received a lot of international accolades. Roy began his career as a cinematographer under director, P.C. Barua. His first project as a cameraman was Devdas, based on the novel of Sarat Chandra. He turned director with a Bengali film, Udayer Pathe. After shifting his base to Mumbai, he made few films but the world took notice of this gentle legend with the classic film, Do Bigha Zamin.

     

    One of his popular films that represented India in 1960 Cannes Film Festival was Sujata. It is based on a Bengali short story written by Subodh Ghosh and dealt with the subject of untouchability starring Nutan. The actress repeated her outstanding performance in Roy’s melodious Bandini, an intense romantic drama that shed light on mental and physical rehabilitation of a female murderer. To top it all, his Madhumati was the first Indian film to be launched abroad and its opening shot was taken in front of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival Theatre in Czechoslovakia.

     

    Speaking about presenting the film festival on Zee Classic, Irani says, “I am honoured to be presenting the Bimal Roy Film Festival on Zee Classic. Bimal Da was an institution in himself. Decades have passed and there is still a lot more to learn from his school of filmmaking. Through this festival, we are aiming not only to appreciate but relive his passion, his outlook towards society and its reform which are still relevant today.”
