This Independence Day, be a part of the Zee Cinema’s #MainBhiKesari initiative

MUMBAI: While we are all set to celebrate our 73rd Independence Day, let’s not forget that the sole reason for us being able to celebrate this freedom is the sheer selflessness of our soldiers. The Indian armed forces battling it out on the borders are an epitome of bravery and sacrifice. One such instance of bravery was the Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers fought bravely against a mighty army of 10,000 Afghan invaders for their motherland and created history. This story is depicted in the movie Kesari, starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra. Kesariis all set for its World Television Premiere on Zee Cinema this 15th August at 12 noon.

Paying an ode to every martyr, Zee Cinema urges citizens of India to come together and help the kin of martyrs through the #MainBhiKesari campaign. Starting 1st August, fans can extend their support by donating any amount on the Bharat Ke Veer or Freechargeapp and website and share a screenshot tagging Zee Cinema and using the hashtag#MainBhiKesari. For every donation made, the channel will contribute ₹500 towards Bharat Ke Veer. Launched in April 2017 by Akshay Kumar and the Ministry of Home Affairs, the'Bharat Ke Veer' initiative started with the purpose of enabling willing donors to help and contribute towards the families of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Akshay Kumar, who launched the Bharat Ke Veer app in 2017 said,“Kesari depicts the iconic battle of Saragarhi that was fought in 1897, which is a prime example of bravery and sacrifice. Post any war or battle, it’s the families of soldiers who suffer unimaginable loss. With Zee Cinema’s #MainBhiKesari initiative we can go one step further from merely empathizing with them to supporting their families, wives, children and parents. Our soldiers put their lives at risk at the border for our safety, it is our responsibility now to go all out and support them. So, I urge all the viewers to step up and make a contribution towards our Bharat Ke Veer.”

Ruchir Tiwari, Business Head, Zee Hindi Movies Clustersaid,“When Zee Cinema adopted Seene Mein Cinema as the brand philosophy, the aim was to ignite the ‘Jazba’ in every Indian and inspire them to go beyond the ordinary and achieve the unachievable. As industry pioneers, it is our constant effort to show movies that evoke an emotional connect and bring about a change in people’s lives. With the #MainBhiKesari campaign, we are taking a step towards fulfilling our motto. With this initiative, we hope that we can bring people together as one community and make a difference to the lives of the armed forces and their kin.”

Over the years it has been Zee Cinema’s endeavour to take up social causes and work towards creating awareness. The channel also premieres movies with a social message and aims at highlighting a significant cause. Last year, for the World Television Premiere of Padman, the channel ran a tweet for a cause social media campaign#Padathon, which aimed at raising awareness about menstrual hygiene and creating a platform to start conversations about the topic. For every tweet uploaded with the hashtag, the channel contributed Rs.10 towards an NGO that made affordable sanitary pads. #ZeeForAll was another successful initiative undertaken by the channel in 2017 for the Independence Day Special movie – Dangal.  With an audio description for the visually impaired and subtitles for the hearing impaired audience, the movie was made accessible to all.

  • Zee Cinema to air Manmarziyaan on Saturday 13th July at 6pm

Zee Cinema to air Manmarziyaan on Saturday 13th July at 6pm

AMUMBAI: A love storyunlike any other, Manmarziyaan is a romanticdrama that revolves around three primary characters – Vicky Kaushal(Vicky), Taapsee Pannu(Rumi) and Abhishek Bachchan (Robbie). Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the movie presents a classic love triangle, narrated with a fresh perspective where the characters are perpetually oscillating between confusingly complex emotions. Zee Cinema is set to air the cinematic blockbuster ‘Manmarziyaan’ on Saturday, 13th July at 6 pm.

Vicky Kaushal who plays Vicky Sandhu said,“Manmarziyaan is been one of the most liberating experiences for me as an actor. I believe the character Vicky Sandhu to be my alter ego and to completely surrender to that character and to the world of Anurag Kashyap was one of the most learning experiences for me. It was the first time I was collaborating with Taapsee and Abhishek and had a blast shooting with them.”

Essaying the role of Rumi, Taapsee Pannu said“When Kanika was narrating the script to me, I felt there was no challenge in portraying the character of Rumi. I’m a black or white person in real life, but this character is confused and indecisive. So, I couldn’t relate to her. Then, she said something which was the reason I took up the film. She told me, ‘Had it not been for that patch, it would have been a cakewalk for you.’ That became the selling point for me.”

Commenting on his character – Robbie, Abhishek Bachchan said, “I feel every actor brings a lot of himself or herself to a character and, also takes a lot back. There are several shades of me in Robbie and there are things about Robbie that I would love to emulate.”

Zee Cinema with its new brand philosophy ‘Seene Mein Cinema’ enliven characters like Rumi, Vicky & Robbie, whose jazba to love hard, fuels their ‘live to love, love to live’ spirit! Set-in small-town Amritsar, the plotline follows the life of Rumi (Taapsee Pannu), a wholehearted unapologetic girl who is crazy in love with Vicky (Vicky Kaushal), a typical Punjabi munda. The movie gains momentum when on one occasion Rumi is caught red handed by her family and is pressurized to get married.

Vicky on the other hand, develops cold feet, and constantly avoids Rumi's request to bring his parents over and ask her hand in marriage. Fed up, Rumi gives up on Vicky and agrees to an arranged marriage. Enters Robbie (Abhishek Bachchan), a warm and genuine man, who effortlessly swoops Rumi off her feet. After a brief courtship, the blooming love birds get married. Things however take a turn when Robbie finds out that Rumi cheats on him with Vicky. Will Rumi leave Robbie for Vicky, or find her way back into Robbie’s heart?

Capturing the emotions of the film, are the songs by Amit Trivedi. Manmarziyaan’s 14-song music album is rooted in Punjabi music with Dhyaanchand, Halla, Daryaa and Sacchi Mohabbat being the highlights of the film.

When we see underdogs take on extraordinary goals, despite all adversities and difficulties, we can relate to them. New age cinema is all about bringing the extraordinary together to create nonchalant magic. With the commencement of a new era in cinema, the brand decided to undergo a total visual transformation including a shift in brand focus – Seene Mein Cinema. As ZEEL completes 25 years, this not only makes us feel extremely proud but also encourages us to do better.”

He added, “The channel’s initial thought was to be the go to channel for Bollywood fans, but today we have managed to re-define ourselves and create a category for ourselves. This year we want our viewers to break away from the shackles of their shortcomings and live a life that is an inspiration for all. We are defined by the moments when we decide to never give up and take that risk. Our new brand campaign is an ode to all who have the jazba in them to not let the hurdles of life demotivate their spirit of living.”

ZEEL CMO Prathyusha Agarwal said, “It is said that life inspires movies. With our new brand philosophy ‘Jazba hai jeene mein, jab cinema hai seene mein’ we want to urge our viewers to take inspiration from cinema and chase the extraordinary. It is the spirit of seeing the silver lining and the belief that nothing is impossible that helps us sail through the most difficult situations in life. Hindi cinema boasts of many inspirational stories that give us the courage to take a leap forward. The brand positioning ‘Seene Mein Cinema’ celebrates the jazba that is hidden inside every individual and would like to encourage them to embrace life with open arms.”

  • Watch the World Television Premiere of Satyameva Jayate on 15th December only on Zee Cinema

Watch the World Television Premiere of Satyameva Jayate on 15th December only on Zee Cinema

MUMBAI: We all have seen corruption and apathy in the government and police force etc. from close quarters at some point in our lives. At most times, we have not protested and merely given up since the idea of taking on the system seems impossible. But imagine if you could teach these corrupt officials a lesson. Milap Zaveri’s Satyamev Jayate is one such action entertainer! A cold-hearted killer is on the loose. The names on his kill-list have two things in common – they are all policemen and each one is reputedly corrupt. This thriller stars John Abrabham and Manoj Bajpayee in the lead along with debutant Aisha Sharma in a pivotal role. Zee Cinema – Home Of Blockbusters is all set to air the World TV Premiere of ‘Satyameva Jayate’ on Saturday, 15th December at 9pm.

Bringing back one of the main themes of the 70s and 80s of weeding out corruption with action and enthusiasm, Satyameva Jayate brings back the essence with effortless acting and hard-hitting dialogues. Satyamev Jayate, a huge box office success, is John Abrham’s second hit in 2018 after Parmanu. While John is tearing up tyres and beating the bad guys to a pulp, he infuses the angry young man role with passion and energy. Manoj Bajpayee as is in top form and his ace act as the fiercely determined and honest cop adds credibility to the film. Taking the overall feel of the movie to another level and adding an oomph factor is the gorgeousNora Fatehi in a remake of the sensational chartbuster song ‘Dilbar Dilbar’.

Commenting on the USP of the film John Abraham says, “In a strange way, Satyameva Jayate is an aspirational film. Satyameva Jayate is today’s angry young man who says, what is happening in our country? Look at women, children, animals. Look at what is happening! It’s become a degenerated society? So, we have given our commercial take on how to deal with that, how to deal with corruption, how to deal with molestation.”

The movie begins with Veer (John Abraham), cremating a corrupt cop in the middle of the night. Early next morning, he leaves the victim's ashes outside the police station stuffed into an urn accompanied with a message to stop accepting bribes. When several such police inspectors are burnt alive in a series of merciless killings, the entire police force is rocked with terror including DCP Shivansh (Manoj Bajpayee). With everyone questioning the system and the media looking for answers, the public is shaken with fear. While on one hand Veer is portrayed as a serial killer, his soft side is seen when he meets Shikha (Aisha Sharma) a vet, who also volunteers to clean up beaches in Mumbai. What follows are a series of encounters that reveal that Veer and Shivansh are against the same enemy!
