  • Zee Cinema to air Taapsee Pannu-starrer ‘Rashmi Rocket’ on 27 Nov

Zee Cinema to air Taapsee Pannu-starrer ‘Rashmi Rocket’ on 27 Nov

Mumbai: Zee Cinema is set to telecast the world TV premiere of Taapsee Pannu-starrer “Rashmi Rocket” on 27 November at 8 p.m.

The film tells the inspiring story of Rashmi Vira (Pannu) – a spirited tomboy from Kutch, with a carefree childhood and supportive parents who always encouraged her to push her limits and become a world athletic champion. However, her career comes to a dead end when she becomes a victim of gender bias faced by female athletes. Thereafter, begins her journey to overcome all barriers and fight for justice.

Directed by Akash Khurana, the film also features Abhishek Banerjee, Supriya Pathak, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Priyanshu Painyuli in pivotal roles.

“Playing the role of captain Gagan in Rashmi Rocket has been more than special to me. Growing up, I witnessed the journey of my dad who is a retired colonel from Assam regiment. It’s because of him that my fascination and inclination towards the armed forces only grew, while acting is something that is my passion,” said Priyanshu Painyuli on his character in the film. “My love for cinema and the deep respect for the army perfectly coalesced in this role and I am only grateful that it was offered to me. I remember sending pictures to my family in the army uniform and they all told me that I resembled my dad from his early days as a young captain.”

“Whenever I pick a role, I place the script and the character at the primal importance. When I read about my character in the film, I was immediately intrigued as Eeshit is someone who fights for a cause – an athlete, someone who takes a stand and wants to bring about a change,” said Abhishek Banerjee. “To prepare for the role, I always thought of someone who fights for change and maybe that’s why I connected with the character. I think this came as a great opportunity to understand a human-like that and it inspired me in ways I didn’t imagine.”

Zee Cinema launches new campaign celebrating spirit of togetherness

Mumbai: Highlighting the value of human relationships and interactions that went missing from people’s lives due to the pandemic, Zee Cinema has launched a three-film campaign #RehnaHaiSaathSaath to foster and celebrate the spirit of unity, belonging and hope.

Taking cue from one of the most watched films on the channel during the pandemic – ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ the entertainment brand, along with its creative agency Lowe Lintas conceptualised this campaign to depict an array of emotions people experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is being promoted across TV and digital platforms in a multi-phased manner. The channel will air back-to-back films like “Rashmi Rocket,” “Thalaivii,” “Squad Antim,” “Sooryavanshi,” “Sanak,” and more as part of the campaign.

Zee Cinema’s research shows that audiences place the channel in the Orange need state of the ‘Needscope model’ which is strongly associated with attributes of togetherness, belonging, harmony, hope and encouragement. In line with the brand philosophy of ‘Jazba Hai Jeene Mein, Jab Cinema Hai Seene Mein,’ the campaign aims to foster a deeper connection with its viewers using topical and relatable stories and events.

“During the pandemic, we tried to help our audiences stay entertained and engaged with heart-warming films. In this phase, we have all experienced a whirlpool of emotions. Here, connections have helped us survive and togetherness is what helps us progress. Rehna Hai Saath Saath is an extension of this sentiment. Through this brand campaign, we want to celebrate each audience member, their spirit and our ability to work together through it all,” said Zeel cluster head Hindi movie channels Ruchir Tiwari.

Zeel CMO of content business Kartik Mahadev added, “Cinema is an inspiring and binding medium. This became even more apparent when we gathered around our television, as families, and watched movies together during the difficult phase of lockdown. The same is reflected by the 13 per cent viewership rise for the Hindi movies genre during the second wave. Zee Cinema has always been a champion of blockbuster movies and cinema’s core attribute of inspiration and togetherness. We, as a society, come together and do the extraordinary when times are tough. The “Rehna Hai Saath Saath” campaign captures this spirit of togetherness that has helped us emerge stronger. Each brand film mirrors the story of not just one person but the story of us as a people. It encourages us to move forward with a new sense of positivity.”

Things take a different turn when he meets Ananya who pushes him to follow his real passion – boxing, to which he dedicates his life.

“While working on Toofaan I realised how there are no shortcuts when you want to portray a character like Aziz and I feel that’s the beauty of it,” said Farhan Akhtar. And through this experience I also have come to believe that there are no shortcuts in life. Don’t forget to watch the World Television of Toofaan on Zee Cinema.”

“My inclination to work on Toofaan was piqued by my drive to work with a sought-after director like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra,” said Mrunal Thakur. “On our first meeting, he was in the process of gauging my strengths for Ananya’s character, of which I wasn’t aware at the time. Her character is really positive, daring and bold – someone who constantly pushes Aziz to keep going. I’ve grown immensely through her and I am honoured to have been given the chance to put myself in her shoes.”

“While Toofaan is a work of fiction, it derives a great deal of inspiration from real life, real people and real struggles and conflicts that I have witnessed and heard about,” said Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra. “To make the viewing experience of the film authentic we have shot the film completely with real locations across Mumbai. You’ll see the actors in a real cramped up setting with no air-conditioning or make-up areas. It was a unique shooting experience.”

  • Zee Cinema to air world TV premiere of ‘Saina’ on 25 July

Zee Cinema to air world TV premiere of ‘Saina’ on 25 July

Mumbai: ZEE Cinema is all set to bring the world television premiere of ‘Saina’ on 25 July, 12 noon.

The biopic on badminton champion Saina Nehwal, Saina follows the dreams of a small-town girl who went on to conquer the world of badminton and become the pride of an entire nation. It also highlights the immense support system including her family, coach, and friends that turned her dreams into a reality.

Directed by Amole Gupte, the film features Parineeti Chopra donning the role of Saina along with the remarkable Manav Kaul, Meghna Malik, and Eshan Naqvi in pivotal roles.

Talking about the film, Saina Nehwal said, “It was surreal to see my own life on screen. Amole Gupte’s creative vision, Parineeti, and Naishaa’s portrayal of myself are both a delight to watch. This experience of rewatching my journey has made me realise that sure, hard work and talent are what drive you to live your dreams, but one of the most important aspects is the support system. I am indebted to my parents, my husband, and my coaches as without them, my life wouldn’t be the same. They constantly motivated me and pushed me to chase my dreams, and that’s what kept me going on the most difficult days. I can only hope that my story will positively motivate young dreamers to go all out in the pursuit of their dreams.

Sharing her experience, Parineeti Chopra said, “Saina has inspired millions and it was extremely fulfilling to play her on screen. It took blood and sweat to transform myself. I vividly remember spending my days as an athlete and even crying out of pain on the court. But it was all worth it. Saina Nehwal was my initial guiding force. Priyanka Chopra even gave me pointers on how to mould myself for the role, since she played a sports character in the past. I am so excited as Zee Cinema brings the story to a much wider audience yet again with the World Television Premiere of Saina on 25 July.”

Amole Gupte shared, “My journey with project Saina began about 6 years ago and it was no less than a rollercoaster. My passion grew with every setback faced by the film, however at one point I may have had lost hope, but, like Saina’s support system in the movie, my diligent team helped me keep the show running. I am grateful that Saina, herself, advised Parineeti which added to the authenticity of the character. We were able to tell a story that’s a must-watch for anyone driven by passion, and with the World Television Premiere of Saina on Zee Cinema, we get to achieve that.”
