    Cupid strikes English entertainment channels this Valentine’s Day

    MUMBAI: English entertainment channels are cupid struck this Valentine’s Day as they prep to dish out a unique line-up for entertaining the audience on 14 February.

    As the week culminates with Valentine’s Day, channels have been enabling their viewers in expressing and showcasing their love with a special line up of shows.

    Let’s take a look on what various channels are doing this Valentine’s Day.

    9X Media

    9X Media began celebrating love by airing a special Valentine’s ident and multiple shows across all the channels starting 10 February. The Switch Off Karo Sab, Switch On Some Love campaign was conceptualised by 9X Jhakaas head of brand innovation and VP of programming Rohan Rane. The lyric of the track is composed by 9XM and 9X Tashan cluster programming head Baljinder Mahant.

    In addition to this, 9XO and 9X Jalwa have lined up special programs on 14 February. Popular animated characters Bade – Chote have joined Tinder and will be providing the singles in town a chance to win free gifts and movie tickets through ‘swipe right and win’ surprise on the popular dating app. Other two special shows include Love-a-thon on 9XO Media and Jalwa Pyaar Ka Panchnama on 9X Jalwa.

    Jalwa Pyaar Ka Panchnama will feature songs depicting different stages of love on 13 and 14 February. Adding to it, the channel will also showcase romantic songs of Yash Chopra on 13 and 14 February at 7 pm, whereas 9XO’s Love-a-thon will play songs expressing various stages of a relationship.

    ZoOm TV

    ZoOm TV, taking the celebration a notch higher, will be playing cupid for its viewers by airing special episodes of Request Kiya Hai, where viewers can send messages to their loved ones through song dedications. The show will be high on the celebrity quotient as well featuring celebrities like Aditya Roy Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor.  

    Adding to it, the channel also aired two other shows namely Cut It and Yaar Mera Superstar to keep viewers entertained. Yaar Mera Superstar featured the cast of Fitoor in conversation with host of the show Garima Kumar. The channel will also play Top 100 romantic songs from 9 to 14 February. On the other hand, the Valentine’s Day special of Planet Bollywood will be aired on 14 February. 

    FX HD

    FX HD will treat its binge watchers by airing season two marathon of Golden Globe winning show The Affair from 10 am on 14 February on FX and FX HD.

    Zee Studio

    The channel is going to enthral its viewers by introducing Valentine Playbook. The line up will showcase romantic titles such as Pretty Woman, Sweet Home Alabama, When In Rome, How To Loose A Guy In 10 Days, Love Is All You Need, A Little Bit Of Heaven and The Bounty Hunter.

    Zee Café

    The channel will premiere a marathon of Red Band Society on 13 and 14 February at 12 pm. It will also engage viewers in a unique way by revealing the fun side of fans with a Dubsmash video on the title track of Pretty Little Liars. The most entertaining Dubsmash video will be featured in Zee Café in March.

    Romedy Now

    For Valentine’s Day, Romedy Now has lined up special movies on 14 February from 9 am to 11 pm. Films like Hitch, Along Came Polly, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Addicted To Love and 50 First Dates are lined up. The line-up also includes the romantic musical comedy Begin Again, which will be aired at 9 pm.

    AXN HD

    The channel will air season 11 of Supernatural comprising 13 episodes on 14 February from 9 am to 9 pm.

    Colors Infinity

    The channel will be airing back to back power packed episodes of Arrow season 4 on 14 February from 9 am onwards.

    Vh1

    Vh1 will celebrate Valentine’s Day with Vh1 Coupling where it will air romantic videos of couples, who dared to celebrate love on screen. The episode will be aired on 14 February at 8 am.

    Comedy Central

    Comedy Central viewers can gear up to binge on back-to-back rib tickling series namely A-Z, Awkward, Whitney, Guys with Kids and Marry Me on 14 February from 11 am onwards.

    SONY PIX

    The channel will air 11 movies on 14 February from 6am to 4am. The Pink Panther 2 will be aired at 6am, Horns will be aired at 12:04pm, The Amazing Spider Man will be aired at 12:54am, Friends With Benefits will be on air at 5:37pm, Freaky Friday will be on air at 3:12 am on 15 February.

    MUMBAI: Zee Café will premiere the entire fourth season of the Netflix original show House Of Cards on 12 and 13 March, 2016 from 5 pm onwards.

     

    The channel will be bringing the new season of the Kevin Spacey starrer in India just a week after its international release.

    Chrome Week 52: English Movies & Business News only gainers

    MUMBAI: In week 52, English Movies emerged as the number one genre in six metros with a growth of 1.9 per cent Opportunity To See (OTS), according to Chrome Data Analytics. Movies Now led the section with 60.3 per cent OTS.

     

    Next on the list was the Business News genre with a growth of 0.1 per cent OTS. CNBC emerged as the channel, which benefited the most in the genre with 75.3 per cent OTS.

     

    Amongst the losers of week 52, the Sports channels genre led the section on an all India basis by witnessing a drop of 5.4 per cent OTS, while DD Sports led the chart with 74.9 per cent OTS.

     

    English Entertainment was next in line, which failed to generate positive ratings and dropped by 3.4 per cent OTS with Zee Café being the most affected channel at 49.9 per cent OTS.

     

    The Youth channels genre in Hindi Speaking Market (HSM) dropped by 1.8 per cent, wherein Channel V recorded 85.1 per cent OTS in week 52.

     

    On the other hand, the Religious channels genre dropped by 1.5 per cent in HSM with Aastha leading the tally with 60.3 per cent OTS.

    MUMBAI: In week 51, the English Entertainment genre benefitted the most while the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) genre dropped by 0.0 per cent, according to Chrome opportunity to see (OTS).

    The English Entertainment segment in six metros increased by 3.3 per cent OTS with Zee Café leading the chart with 50 per cent OTS. 

    Next in the list was English Movies genre, which recorded 2.7 per cent rise in the six metros with Movies Now as the top gainer in the section with 50.7 per cent OTS. 

    The Religious genre in Hindi Speaking Market (HSM) saw a growth of one per cent OTS with Aastha channel leading the genre with 94.2 per cent OTS. 

    Last but not the least, the Hindi News genre in HSM went up by one per cent with India TV topping the chart with 94.4 per cent OTS.

    Kids, Business News, Hindi Movies and Hindi GECs genres were among the losers in week 51. The Kids section dropped by 0.2 per cent with Nickelodeon leading the chart with 76.3 per cent OTS.

    The Business News genre saw a fall of 0.1 per cent OTS with CNBC Awaaz leading the segment with 75.7 per cent OTS. 

    The Hindi Movies and Hindi GEC genres in HSM dropped by 0.1 and 0.0 per cent OTS respectively. Max and DD National led the chart with 91.3 per cent and 95.5 per cent OTS respectively.

    MUMBAI:  Sports genre  emerged as the top gainer across India with the growth of 4.1 per cent, making DD Sports the number one channel with 74.1 per cent Opportunity To See (OTS) in week 47, according to the Chrome Data Analytics & Media.

     

    Kids genre grabbed the second place with 1.0 per cent of growth. Nickelodeon claimed the position of the top gainer in section with 77. 6 per cent of OTS throughout India.

     

    Third on the list is Music genre in Hindi Speaking Market (HSM) witnessing a growth of 0.5 per cent. Within the section, 9XM grabbed the first place with 84.8 per cent of OTS.

     

    In infotainment section, which is fourth place in the list with a rise of 0.4 per cent, the week saw History TV 18 emerging as the top channel with 79.4 per cent of OTS.  

     

    English Entertainment, Business News, English Movies and Hindi news failed to garner enough eyeballs this week, making them the losers.

     

    English entertainment witnessed a drop of 2.2 per cent in six metros while Zee Café lead the genre with 51.4 per cent of OTS in week 47.

     

    On the other hand Business news genre dropped by 2.0 per cent in six metros. CNBC Awaaz emerged as the top loser with 76.6 per cent of OTS.

     

    On the other hand, English news took the third place after a drop of  1.2 per cent in six metros. Within the genre, Loksabha TV got 92.8 of OTS, while Hindi news genre dropped by 0.9 per cent.  India TV led the genre with 94.7 per cent of OTS.

    MUMBAI: Zee Café will be launching two new shows this November namely Selfie and Young and Hungry.
     

    Selfie, which will go on air from 8 November at 1.30 pm, is an American sitcom, about Eliza Dooley and Henry. Eliza is a social media-obsessed narcissist, who, on realising that her life is only filled with shallow relationships, enlists the help of Henry to help revamp her image and upgrade her social status. While helping Eliza, Henry soon realises that he himself could learn a thing or two about getting out there, socially.
     

    Young and Hungry will premiere on 29 November and traces the life of Josh, a wealthy young tech entrepreneur looking out for a professional chef, who meets Gabi, a feisty and independent young food blogger, looking to be his personal chef. Gabi is desperate for the job and must prove herself, mostly to Josh’s aide, who prefers a famous chef for the job.

    The channel will also air the sixth season of The Good Wife, which will make a comeback on 26 November. The show will be aired from Monday to Thursday at 11 pm. This season, Eli Gold (Alan Cumming) persuades Alicia (Julianna Margulies) to run for State’s Attorney, and while Florrick, Agos & Associates is on the verge of bringing in Diane Lockhart as a partner, Cary must face disturbing allegations.

    BARC week 43: AXN jumps to No. 1 slot; Comedy Central drops

    MUMBAI: AXN secured leadership position in the English general entertainment channel (GECs) genre, while last week’s chart topper Comedy Central went three steps down to settle at the fourth slot in the tally according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data (U+R) in week 43.

     

    AXN led the English GEC genre with 196 (000Sums) followed by Star World in the second slot with 96 (000Sums) followed by Zee Cafe with 90 (000Sums).

     

    Comedy Central, which was on the top in the week 42, secured the fourth slot with 82 (000Sums), whereas Colors Infinity SD with 54 (000Sums) bagged the fifth berth in week 43.
