    Zee World tops the GEC pay platform in Zambia

    MUMBAI: Zee World, ZEEL’s English general entertainment channel is gaining steam in Africa, revealed the company.

    At the Content Upfront in Lusaka on May 29, Zee World announced that it has captured the number one GEC position on Pay TV platform in Zambia.

    “The growing success of Zee channels paves the way for further expansion in the continent,” said a buoyant Zee Africa, CEO, Harish Goyal

    The Content Upfront was held at the Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel. In the next quarter, Zee World is likely to host more editions of the Content Upfront  in Botswana, Namibia, Ghana, Malawi and Zimbabwe.

    Zee World, the first offering from ZEEL for mainstream viewers in Africa, was launched in 2015.

    The other channels  in the Zee Africa bouquet include Zee Bollymovies, Zee Bollynova, Zee TV and Zee Cinema.

  • Third Zee channel WION to be aired on Africa’s Kwesé

    MUMBAI: Zee Africa has announced the launch of its global English news channel WION on Kwesé TV, Africa’s pay–TV network.

    This will be the third channel from the Zee stable on the Kwesé platform which already hosts Bollymovies on channel 155 and Zee Bollynova on channel 150, added in January 2017.

    WION will premiere to the African audience in Kwesé TV’s current satellite markets on channel 731, and will reach viewers in Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, and Lesotho through its multi-platform broadcast offering which includes Kwesé mobile app, linear TV, and web streaming services.

    With WION, Zee Africa CEO Harish Goyal said, they had committed to deliver to the African viewers, authentic information and a local perspective to what was happening in the world. Econet Media CEO Joseph Hundah concluded that the addition of WION to its line-up added further diversity to its bouquet.

    WION, with its head office in Delhi and bureaus in 37 global locations, has multi-cultural staff adding local perspective to every global story.

    MUMBAI: Continuing with its promise of bringing quality Bollywood entertainment to Africa, leading Indian content company, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) today announced the launch of two new channels, Zee Bollymovies and Zee Bollynova which will broadcast on Africa’s new pay-TV network Kwesé TV.

    With the promise of ‘Bollywood Magic’, Zee Bollymovies is set to captivate African audiences across the board with its award-winning Bollywood movies and series. The channel aims to become the number one destination for Bollywood on the continent, bringing the latest and best Bollywood entertainment to Africa. The other exciting new addition to the ZEE stable, Zee Bollynova promises to create ‘Memorable Moments’ with its offering of a fusion of general entertainment programming, showcasing the best telenovelas and food shows.

    Speaking on ZEE’s expansion in the African market, ZEEL CEO – International Broadcast Business Amit Goenka said, “With great similarities between the two cultures, Africa has always shown a tremendous appreciation for rich, vibrant Bollywood content. Our two previously-launched, specially customised channels, Zee World and Zee Magic, have been warmly received by viewers, resulting in a threefold increase in our viewership since our entry into the continent in 2015.
