    Mumbai: Homegrown short video platform MX TakaTak has announced an exclusive launch of music track “Kanta Laga” from singers Neha Kakkar, Tony Kakkar and YoYo Honey Singh. 

    As the official short video partner for this track, the platform had an in-song integration, as well as a 10-day exclusive period before its distribution to any other Indian short video apps, said the statement.

    Commenting on the launch, Neha Kakkar said, “As an influencer on this platform, I am glad to extend our partnership for our new song and I am hoping the MX TakaTak community will come out in support of this peppy track and make it go viral.”

    MUMBAI: 2015 has been an exciting year on YouTube in India. One saw more and more people consuming content on digital platforms, with YouTube leading the pack. YouTube has garnered a huge fan following not only in terms of the audience but also amongst original content creators in India. While YouTubers like All India Bakchod (AIB) and The Viral Fever (TVF) rose to superstardom, an array of new players also joined in to professionally create videos for YouTube. Even big screen celebrities were seen more open to experimenting with artists online.

     

    As per YouTube Rewind, the top trending YouTube video in India in 2015 was AIB: ‘Every Bollywood Party Song feat. Irrfan,’ followed by ‘Chhota Bheem – aur – Krishna Jodi No. #1.’

     

    In spite of the huge surge in original digital content from YouTubers, it is mainstream media, which still commands YouTube viewership. As per the data, six out of 10 in the list of top most trending videos on YouTube  belong to mainstream media, including television and film.

     

    The data also sheds light on the fact that in 2015, comedy ruled in India. This is evident as five out of top 10 most viewed videos on YouTube were of the comedy genre. 

     

    Grabbing the first spot is the amusing comic music video by AIB: ‘Every Bollywood Party Song feat. Irrfan,’ which redefined comedy and gave the video a very refreshing twist. AIB’s ‘Honest Indian Weddings (Part 1),’ ‘PK movie Spoof,’ TVF’s ‘Barely Speaking with Arnub | Arvind Kejriwal’ are amongst the other top trending comedy videos, which were placed in the list of top 10.

     

    2015 was also a good year for music with Honey Singh’s ‘Dheere Dheere Se Meri Zindagi video song (OFFICIAL),’ ‘Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan Video Song’ and ‘Badshah – DJ Waley Babu’ being the top most trending music video locally.

    MUMBAI: Move over ‘Chaar Botal Vodka’, ‘Sunny Sunny’ and ‘Desi Kalakaar’ tunes as our own rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh is back with a big ‘birthday’ bang. He has given his fans another reason to rejoice and celebrate their birthday in his style.

     

    His song from the upcoming Bollywood film Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend has been titled ‘Birthday Bash’. And apart from singing, he is also featuring in the song.

     

    Commented the movie director, “We met him regarding making a song that was situational of a club birthday track. He loved the idea and since he is the king of club tracks, it was a theme that absolutely required a Honey touch and he thought it would be big for sure. After completing the song he told me, I’ve given you a formula hit.”

     

    His song has struck the perfect chord with the audience and it has got big thumbs up.

     

    ‘Birthday Bash’ is sung and composed by Singh. Alfaaz has penned the lyrics and also sung the song along with Singh. Directed by Japinder Kaur, produced by Manjeet Kaur and Tarnpreet Singh, the movie stars Divyendu Sharma, Jackie Shroff, Prachi Mishra, Pradhuman Singh, Ira Dubey and others and is set to release on 20 March, 2015.

    Hungama.com releases ‘Digital Music Trends 2014’ report

    MUMBAI: The year gone by had much to take note of. Hungama.com, an on-demand digital entertainment store-front, too has released a report on the music trends of 2014.

    The report, ‘Hungama.com Digital Music Trends 2014’, analyses music trends as per usage, both downloading and streaming, pan-India; with information on the most popular music streaming platforms as well as popular devices and music choices of Indian consumers.

    Music streaming across Hungama.com’s digital properties saw over a 100 per cent increase between 2013 and 2014, as per the report, which includes statistics based on web, WAP and mobile apps consumption. In comparison, between 2013 and 2014, the Android platform witnessed an increase of close to 100 per cent with regards to access of service over Android devices alone.  In fact, during 2014, 90 per cent of the music streaming access was accounted for by mobile devices driven by the growth in mobile internet usage.

    Bollywood based music, accounting for 81 per cent, was the preferred genre of music consumed across Hungama.com’s digital platforms, followed by international music at 10 per cent. Hungama.com, which introduced a multi-lingual transliterated version of its Android app in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi in 2014, saw streams for south Indian music and Punjabi music accounting for 4 per cent and 2.2 per cent of the total streams for the year. In terms of regions, Maharashtra accounted for the largest share of streams and downloads in 2014.

    The report also gives insight into the most popular handset manufacturers and devices of 2014. While Samsung continues to be the most popular mobile brand, the second spot was taken by Sony, followed by Micromax, Motorola and HTC in the top 5 most popular device manufacturers of 2014. Among the most popular handsets used, Samsung Galaxy dominated with nine devices leaving one spot for the Motorola MOTO G (8th position) in the list of top 10 most popular devices of 2014.

    2014 was also the year that brands increased their presence and reach on digital platforms. The leading advertisers on Hungama.com’s music platforms for 2014 include leading brands Airtel, Snapdeal, Vodafone, Ford, ITC, IPhone, HP, Unilever, Bacardi, Ask Me, We Chat, OLX, Canon, Quikr, Zee, Max Life, Maruti, Mcdowells and Cadbury.

    The report also includes ‘Hungama.com Chart-toppers 2014’, which delves into the most popular music among Indian consumers during the year. Hungama.com Chart-toppers 2014 is based on trends, both streaming and downloads, along with songs’ popularity and number of likes for music released in 2014; with a vision to promote the talents behind the music. The list includes a broad mix of genres, artists, languages and composers whose music released in 2014.

    As per the report, Arijit Singh is the most popular male singer of 2014 while Priyanka Chopra is among the top 10 most popular international artists for her hit title ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’. Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ and Yo Yo Honey Singh’s ‘Desi Kalakaar’ with multiple entries to their credit are the two most popular albums of 2014.

Brand Kapil Sharma though, is not just limited to television but the funnyman is a hit on micro blogging site twitter too. He features at the top of the most followed among TV celebrities on twitter with 17, 17,777 followers, followed by anchor Mandira Bedi with 4, 93,190. Fashionista Anusha Dandekar, is third in the list with 3, 28,262 followers. Television actor Ram Kapoor completes the list with 1,27,717.

    Indian channels too have been seeing increasing engagement on the micro blogging site, to woo fans and audiences. The channel Colors comes at the number one spot toppling other GEC’s like Zee TV and Star Plus which have come at the second and third spot respectively. Zoom, a Bollywood dedicated channel has beaten Sony for the fourth spot, which came in fifth.

    Former lead vocalist of the now disbanded electro rock band Pentagram and part of the duo Vishal-Shekhar, Vishal Dadlani tops the most mentioned musicians list. He’s known to be candid and openly voice his support and his opinions on current affairs and music. Although way more popular for his trendy lyrics and music production, Yo Yo Honey Singh, surprisingly comes in at number three. Female vocalist Shreya Goshal comes second while Academy award winner AR Rahman comes in fourth.

    The most spoken moment on the platform among entertainment vertical, was when Rajinikanth joined twitter, with over 2, 00,000 followers in the first 24 hours and now over 1.1 million in total.

    Popular on TV and also popular on twitter, Kapil Sharma has not just topped this list but is also one of the fastest growing TV personalities too. He is closely followed by Chef Vikas Khanna who is also popular for his charm and sharp looks. The other three most mentioned TV personalities are Karan Kundra, Karan Wahi and Kritika Sharma.

    In a news dominant nation, journalists make for influencers as well as change agents.  Harsha Bhogle known for his commentary as well as his opinion and contributory article in leading publications and magazines made it to the list. It is also intriguing to note that all mentioned are related to the TV medium than the print, Harsha being the exception. Rajdeep Sardesai tops the list while wife Sagarika Ghose comes in fourth. NDTV’s Barkha Dutt is second in line, while Rahul Kanwal is placed at number three.

    The list of some of the most followed Indians from the entertainment industry is not a tricky one to guess. Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan is ranked number one with 11,881,345 followers, followed by the three Khan’s; Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman with 1,02,96,567,  9,925,022,  9,475,555 followers respectively. Female actor Deepika Padukone comes in fifth with 83,99,197  followers.

    The big names who joined the platform this year are Rajinikanth, Arjun Kapoor, Kajol, Twinkle Khanna, Kirron Kher, Alok Nath, Armaan Jain, Amit Trivedi and Prakash Jha.

    The top 10 hashtags for the year were ManwaLaage (Manwa Laage,  a song from the movie Happy  New Year), Happy Birthday Hrithik Roshan, Hrithik The Most Handsome Indian, I  Stand With Deepika Padukone (Users support actor Deepika Padukone for her stance against a national newspaper), Jai Ho Thunder Storms In 11 Days (the hashtag refers to fans waiting for Jai Ho movie 11 days prior its release) among others.

    MUMBAI: 2014 is winding up and YouTube has already given us its top trending videos of the year in India. Videos that people chose to watch repeatedly, shared and made them the most popular ones of the lot.
    This year seemed to be the year of Bollywood celebrities, embracing YouTube as a means to connect with fans, do something madcap and establish their positions as youth icons. Whether it was the ice bucket challenges or film promotional strategies, celebrities have greatly benefited from YouTube in 2014!

    Taking the top spot with over 8.8 million views is the episode of Comedy Nights with Kapil which featured sultry adult movie star Sunny Leone and producer Ekta Kapoor promoting Ragini MMS 2. Not surprisingly, Leone’s music video “Baby Doll” is also graded by YouTube as the top trending Indian music video of 2014 with nearly 40 million views. 

    Alia Bhatt made a stellar debut on YouTube this year when she paired up with All India Bakchod (AIB) and made the hysterical “Genius of the Year” mockumentary which garnered over 6.8 million views. That is not all – Bhatt’s unplugged version of “Samjhawan” highlighted her singing capabilities and increased curiosity for the film, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. The video was watched by more than 16 million people.


    Closely following Bhatt and Leone’s popularity meter on YouTube is Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh. As part of the promotion for his upcoming movie ‘Bang Bang’, actor Hrithik Roshan dared Singh to a challenge on the streets of Mumbai. In his usual feisty spirit, Singh danced to the popular “Main Aisa Kyon Hoon” in the Krissh get up.  His fanatical “Bang Bang Dare” video acquired over 3 million views.  
    2014 also saw innovative and effective content that sought to entertain the audience while at the same time, sending out valuable messages to the viewers. For instance, Nestlé India’s “Good food, Good Life” advertisement, which ranks in the top 10 trending videos of India with over 6 million views, is truly a moving commercial that teaches us the joy of sharing. The public service announcement video entitled “SeatBelt Crew” received close to 4.7 million views.  The unique concept featured a group of transgenders delivering a lesson in safe driving that motorists will carry for the rest of their lives.


    Independent video creators like The Viral Fever and AIB, also took YouTube by storm this year with their spoof parodies and original content.  Their popular videos “Bollywood Aam Aadmi Party – Arnab’s Qtiyapa” and “Nayak2: The Common Man Rises” attracted over 4 million and 3 million views respectively.


    Other trending YouTube videos In India include Aap Ki Adalat’s episode feature Narendra Modi with over 4 million views, “Lion shows tourists why you must stay inside your car”, “Top 50 English Nursery Rhymes” and “Wheels on the Bus”. Amongst the music videos, “Chaar Botal Vodka” featuring Yo Yo Honey Singh takes the second most popular spot with over 28 million views. This is followed by “Tu Meri” from the movie Bang Bang, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s “Zaroori Tha”, “Yaar Naa Miley” from Kick, “Tune Maari Entriyaan” from Gunday and “Jumme Ki Raat” from Kick.

Rituraj Mohanty has now been chosen by millions of voters across India to bag the title of ‘India’s Raw Star’. The winner takes home a Maruti Susuzki Swift, a contract with Star Plus and a huge sum on fifty lakhs. The other artists who were in the fight for this title were Darshan Raval from Ahmedabad and Mohit Gaur from Jaipur.

Darshan who was performing with Mohit Chauhan set everyone into a romantic zone with their performance.

     

    Besides this the voted out artists also came back on the show to for the one last time give their fans a treat and to give them company was the popular and the party started Baadshah and Manoj Tiwari. The gorgeous host of the show Gauahar Khan was also seen shaking-a-leg in the finale along with Jeffrey and Darshan. The talented actor and dancer Rithvik was also seen in the finale doing gags that left the house rolling for more laughter.

     

    Making their presence felt on India’s Raw Star Finale were Sajid and Wajid along with the lead of Tevar Arjun Kapoor.     After the sneak peak of the Deepika Padukone’s item song ‘Lovely’ was released on Happy New Year’s music launch, the official video of the hot and spicy number is finally out.

     

    Composed by Dr. Zeus, ‘Lovely’ has been penned by Jiwan Mann, Kumaar and crooned by Kanika Kapoor, Ravindra Upadhyay, Miraya Varma and Fateh.

     

     ‘Lovely’ features the actress in an avatar that is poles-apart from what she is portrayed in other HNY songs like ‘Manwa Lage’ and ‘Indiawaale’. The song, being touted as the ‘item song of the year’, will be Padukone’s entry song in the film.

     

    Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah, HNY is dance heist film and follows the story of six oddballs set to loot a ‘handful of diamonds’. Slated for a 24 October release, it is director Farah Khan’s third film with SRK after Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.

    Life OK drops to number 6 in the ratings chart

    MUMBAI: Continuing the fall, the week 35 of TAM TV ratings witnessed Life OK landing at number sixth position. It saw a huge drop in its viewership and scored 266,952 GVTs, down from 287,861 GVTs.

     

    All its offerings have seen a decline in the ratings. The channel’s chart topper Savdhan India stood at 2,253 TVTs, down from 2,473 TVTs, Shapath scored 1,827 TVTs, down from 2,218 TVTs and Mahadev noted 1,643 TVTs, down from 1,718 TVTs.

     

    Star Plus and Colors are the only gainers this week. Star Plus reported 561,897 GVTs, up from 559,230 GVTs. Its new Sunday fiction property Airlines opened decently well. It reported 3,325 TVTs. It seems the charm of Yo Yo Honey Singh has also worked for the channel with its new non-fiction property India’s Raw Star. It registered 4,521 TVTs. On the daily fiction side, Saathiya Saath leads the chart with 7,334 TVTs, up from 7,179 TVTs.

     

    Coming back to Colors, it recorded 388,017 GVTs, up from 376,579 GVTs at number three. Its non-fiction shows performed well. Comedy Nights with Kapil noted 6,967 TVTs, up from 6,521 TVTs and Jhalak Dikhlaja reported 4,552 TVTs, up from 3,879 TVTs. On the fiction side, Meri Ashiqui observed 3,023 TVTs, up from 2,761 TVTs and Beintehaa scored 3,012 TVTs, up from 2,977 TVTs.

     

    Other general entertainment channels (GECs) witnessed a drop in the ratings. Thus, Zee TV which enjoys its strong hold at number two registered 462,476 GVTs, down from 464,660 GVTs. The channel’s new weekend fiction offering, Neeli Chhatri Wale opened at 2,002 TVTs. Other offerings which have seen a marginal drop in the viewership are Qubool Hai at 6,179 TVTs, down from 6,194 TVTs, Jamai Raja at 6,620 TVTs, down from 6,688 TVTs and Jodha Akbar at 8,926 TVTs, down from 8,949 TVTs.

     

    Sony Entertainment Television (SET) saw a significant drop in the viewership but still managed to retain its number four position. It garnered 317,093 GVTs, down from 366,282 GVTs. KBC season eight lost some audiences as it observed 4,412 TVTs, down from 5,216 TVTs. CID noted 3,485 TVTs, down from 3,741 TVTs and Adaalat witnessed 1,148 TVTs, down from 1,200 TVTs.

     

    Sab at number five recorded 281,456 GVTs, down from 287,686 GVTs. The channel’s chart leader Tarak Mehta registered 5,860 TVTs and Lapataganj garnered 1,412 TVTs, down from 2,014 TVTs.
