    Star World Premiere HD premieres ‘The Night Of’

    MUMBAI: Star World Premiere HD, India’s leading English entertainment channel, is known to provide audiences with the best and most critically acclaimed content on Indian television. The programming line-up that has previously consisted of Martin Scorsese’s Vinyl, iconic event series X-Files, Ryan Murphy’s The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, television hot sensation Game of Thrones and M. Night Shyamalan’s Wayward Pines Season 2 as part of its roster, is now all geared up to premiere HBO series ‘The Night Of’.

    The eight-part limited series is directed and produced by Oscar-winner Steve Zaillian, known for writing scripts of Oscar and Golden Globe award winning movies like Schindler’s List, American Gangster, Gangs of New York and more. Loosely based on an award winning British miniseries Criminal Justice, The Night Of is a hard hitting and brutally honest crime show that delves into the intricate story of a fictitious murder case in New York City.

    The series takes on the journey of a lawyer Jack Stone (John Turturro), who seeks to absolve a young Pakistani-American student (Riz Ahmed) who is accused of brutally murdering a girl on the Upper West Side. As the drama unfolds, the audiences are let in on the pitfalls of the judicial system while they go through a whirlwind of different emotions ranging from empathy to utter outrage.

    The Night Of comprises of a stellar star cast including renowned actors Poorna Jagannathan, popular for her roles in Bollywood movies – Delhi Belly, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Hollywood TV shows – House of Cards, Law & Order, The Game among others; John Turturro of The Transformers, Exodus: Gods and Kings, Secret Window, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan fame; Riz Ahmed, popular for his roles in Hollywood movies – The Road to Guantanamo and Nightcrawler with upcoming movies – James Bourne, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Peyman Moaadi of Oscar-winning movie ‘A Separation’ fame among others.

    The Night Of will premiere in India on Wednesday, July 13th at 10 PM on Star World Premiere HD.

    TV show X-Files comes to an end and its finale will be aired on 27 Feb on Star World Premiere HD

    MUMBAI: The much anticipated TV show X-Files comes to an end on an abrupt note. The event series finale of X-Files airs on 27 February at 9 pm on Star World Premiere HD.

    X-Files franchise creator Chris Carter said, “I can tell you this: Fox owns this show. I can’t imagine, with the ratings that we’ve got and the way we ended this season, that there won’t be more X-Files. They will find a way to get that done. Because I spoke about it briefly with Fox CEO Dana Walden today, so there’s an appetite there and a chance certainly to find how we’re going to get ourselves off this precipice.”

    He further added, “I think we put everything I could think of in there. But there are always things you want to do and are unable to. There is something, but I can’t remember what it is. I was lucky to put the Lone Gunmen back in. We had to bring one of the actors all the way from Australia to do it. So that’s a case of actually getting what you want.”

    Star English Network continues to dominate with 48% Market Share

    MUMBAI: Star World continues to dominate the English GEC category and the Star English Network (SW, FX and Fox Crime) has 48% market share in latest 4 weeks where the Star channels are blazing all guns on the ratings front. 9 out of the top 10 shows of the current week belong to Star Network. Masterchef Australia S5 continues to be the No 1 show followed by Fringe on FX , Koffee with Karan S4, X Files and Two and A Half Men.

    The popular talk show ‘Koffee with Karan’ enters its 4th season, with first episode featured the evasive Salman Khan who is not a regular celebrity on any talk show. With 3 successful seasons already underway, the fourth season began with a bang as its launch week delivered 222 TVT’s and its original airing dominated with 78% share of English GEC on the Sunday 9PM slot. The show accumulated 6,19,000 viewers across its airings during the week of launch.

    With its dynamic content and exclusive guest line-up Koffee with Karan also delivered big impact on the digital space and garnered huge popularity with the print and electronic media. On You Tube alone the launch episode with Salman Khan has delivered over 1.7 million views in a span of 1 week. On twitter the show conversations were at another level. The opening episode also saw Koffee with Karan trend on twitter for approx. 24 hours and trended in the no.1 position on Facebook.
