    Wunderman Thompson Kolkata announces new campaign for Pentonic GumStik 

    Mumbai: Pentonic, a writing instrument brand from the House of Linc, has ventured into the stationery category with its latest offering, Pentonic GumStik, a gum stick with super sticking power, in order to expand its product portfolio.

    Created by its agency-on-record, Wunderman Thompson, Kolkata, Pentonic has released a new digital film titled “The Aviator ” to bring this product attribute alive.

    The film tells the story of a nerdy 10-year-old who loves aeroplanes. He creates a model with a Pentonic GumStik and throws it in the air, which then embarks on an epic flight. The visual story is complemented by a unique sound design as it builds on the idea of kids using vocal effects while playing with toys.

    “Pentonic as a brand is designed to be unique. The GumStik is a transparent gum in unique black packaging and comes with super-sticking power. We needed a unique film to expand our mindshare among the target audience, which is school-going kids and their parents,” says Linc Pens MD Deepak Jalan.

    “We have been partnering with Linc Ltd. on the brand Pentonic since 2019 across multiple product and format launches. We are happy and proud to be part of their growth story,” says Wunderman Thompson, Kolkata managing partner Vijay Jacob Parakkal.

    “The power to stick different stuff together to create something new is a magical, superpower. We needed a magical story to bring this alive. After much exploration, we decided on the art and animation style,” adds Wunderman Thompson Kolkata senior ECD & VP Arjun Mukherjee.

    “Pentonic GumStik is a new entrant in a category that is defined and created by a behemoth. We had to do something to get noticed. This is a film that attempts to do that. It retells the story of adhesive power in a way that is likely to stick around in the mind a bit longer,” says Wunderman Thompson Kolkata VP & CSD of client servicing Soumya Chowdhury.

    Tata Pravesh’s new ad film ‘Raahi’ explores gender inclusivity in workplace

    Mumbai: On Friday, Tata Pravesh, a brand of steel doors and windows, launched a new campaign titled “Raahi.” The film aimed to bring exclusive focus on diversity and inclusion by highlighting the importance of an inclusive workplace.

    Conceptualised by Wunderman Thompson Kolkata is purposefully set against a neutral corporate backdrop.

    It tells the story of an LGBTQIA+ individual, shunned by society but who is accepted by colleagues. The film signs off with the strong social message, “Acceptance can open doors,” encouraging us to open our minds—”#KholoMannKeDwaar”—allowing the winds of change to air out our prejudices.

    Shot by Happy Rabbit Films, the film encourages us to inculcate a sense of belonging in the workplace and make our LGBTQIA+ colleagues feel accepted, making them proud of us. It makes us stop for a moment and take cognizance of our biases, so we can work towards eliminating them.

    This initiative has been lauded not just because it is innovative, but because it is also a progressive way for such employees to enter mainstream society, be embraced by all around them, and made to feel like a part of the larger corporate family.

    Commenting on the creative concept, Wunderman Thompson, Kolkata vice president & senior ECD Arjun Mukherjee said, “We need to be sensitive towards our LGBTQIA+ co-workers and make them feel welcome at the workplace. This film encourages us to make them feel at home as our colleagues. It teaches us to build relationships based on love and respect, regardless of gender, so that no one ever walks alone.”

    Mumbai: Wunderman Thompson Kolkata on Tuesday announced the onboarding of Ayan Banik as senior VP – brand strategy. In this role, he will report to Wunderman Thompson India chief strategy officer Pinaki Bhattacharya.

    Banik joins Wunderman Thompson from Grey Delhi where he was not only heading planning for key clients like the GSK Portfolio, Volvo MMTC-PAMP, and Baidyanath. He was also heading the planning functions of key Bangalore and Mumbai accounts like the Britannia non-biscuit portfolio, Aditya Birla Group brands, Weilfield range of ready to cook and ready to eat range of products etc. 

    With 20 years of work experience, across agencies Ogilvy & Mather, JWT, Cheil India, Saatchi & Saatchi, Bates 141 and Grey Worldwide, Banik has worked on an enviable repertoire of brands across diverse categories that include names like Samsung, MMTC-PAMP, KFC, Eno, Pernod Ricard, Apollo Munich, Birla White, Volvo, Honda, in-shorts, Zee News, Mother Dairy, Britannia, said the statement. 

    “Ayan comes with rich experience across categories and brands and is adept at solving brand problems. What makes it even more exciting for us is that he will be based out of our Kolkata office- an office that handles some of our most cherished brands and has great momentum going for it,” said Pinaki Bhattacharya.

    Banik was part of the core team that won the first-ever Cannes Glass Lion for both Cheil and Samsung India. He had also played an integral role in winning the prestigious WPP Partnership in Practice Award for Ogilvy India.
