    Sony BBC Earth to premiere ‘Frozen Planet’ in India

    Mumbai: The second season of the flagship television series Frozen Planet from Sony BBC Earth is about to make its Indian debut.

    Frozen Planet II is narrated by Sir David Attenborough and produced by the acclaimed Natural History Unit of BBC Studios in association with BBC America, the Open University, Migu Video, ZDF, and France Television. After an eleven-year hiatus, the eagerly anticipated six-part series is back on television.

    On 17 October, Frozen Planet II will have its world premiere. It will take viewers on an exploration of the fauna found in the globe’s highest mountains, frozen desserts, snow-covered forests, and ice-cold waters. This six-part series offers an opportunity to discover the wonder of our planet’s frozen realms like never before. It was shot in ultra-high definition using the most advanced camera technology, and it features dramatic new behaviours, intimate stories, and sensational natural spectacles captured on camera for the very first time.

    Frozen Planet II executive producer Mark Brownlow added, “With Frozen Planet II, we want to captivate viewers through new stories, breath-taking drama, and stunning landscapes to drive home the message that these true wildernesses on earth are literally vanishing right before our eyes at a speed faster than we can imagine and how these changes are impacting wildlife.”

    The first season of Frozen Planet, which has received a total of 10 awards and nine nominations, including four Primetime Emmys overall, takes viewers on an unprecedented trip around the polar areas of our planet. The channel hopes to increase viewers’ visual gratification with the debut of its sequel, Frozen Planet II, by providing them with yet another captivating glimpse into the frozen world, this time focusing on a planet that is about to undergo a significant transformation.

    Sony BBC Earth has also started an on-air contest in conjunction with the premiere of the series, and the winners will receive special invitations to the celebrity screenings taking place in several major cities. Additionally, lucky winners will have the chance to win food and drink coupons that may be used at affiliated businesses.

    Series Mania: The French TV festival unveils its 2021 slate

    Mumbai: Series Mania, the French television festival held in Lille, has announced its 2021 line-up ahead of the event set for 30 August. Series Mania’s president Rodolphe Belmer, founder and general director Laurence Herszberg recently unveiled details for the upcoming event.

    Series Mania 2021 offers exclusive world premieres of the greatest international series from more than 20 countries. At the same time, the festival welcomes 3,000 international professionals from the television industry at Series Mania Forum and Lille Dialogues summit set for 30 August-1 September. Two key events for networking and business are now extended online with the creation in 2020 of Series Mania Digital Forum.

    The 2021 international jury includes: Entertainment One, head of Drama, Polly Williams, producer and creator of “Masha” Maria Feldman, France Televisions’ VP-digital Sened Dhab, Indiana Productions’ film & TV head and partner Daniel Campos Pavoncelli.

    The festival will open with the world premiere of British thriller “Vigil,” a World Production for BBC, in association with ITV Studios in partnership with ARTE, starring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie.

    The international competition jury will be chaired by screenwriter, director and producer Hagai Levi (BeTipul, The Affair, Our Boys) and contenders include “Kamikaze” (Denmark, HBO Max), “Anna” (Italy); “Blackport” (Iceland), “Furia” (Norway, Germany), “Germinal” (France, Italy), “Hamlet” (Turkey), and “Jerusalem” and “The Echo of Your Voice” (both Israel).

    The festival will also see premieres of several American series, including the AMC dramedy “Kevin Can F**k Himself” starring Annie Murphy, and Peacock’s true-crime thriller “Dr. Death” starring Alec Baldwin, Christian Slater, Carrie Preston, and Joshua Jackson.

    Other premieres include season five of Netflix’s hugely anticipated, “Money Heist”.

    Series Mania ’21 will host guests of honor including “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan, “Dexter” showrunner Clyde Philipps, and “The Good Fight” actress Audra McDonald.

    MUMBAI: Audiences in India will very soon experience the magnificence of the world’s biggest live-entertainment phenomena, Cirque du Soleil, brought to India by BookMyShow. Citibank has come on board as the presenting partner for the world premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s ‘BAZZAR’ in India. The shows will start November 2018 finding their way home in Mumbai from 15th November 2018 and Delhi from 25th December 2018 before moving to other markets. 

    BookMyShow’s long-term association with Cirque du Soleil is aimed at establishing India as a key market to open avenues for global entertainment. Cirque Du Soleil has brought wonder and delight to more than 190 million spectators in over 450 cities on six continents. The company sells over 12 million tickets per year and has close to 4,000 employees, including 1,400 performing artists from close to 60 different countries.

    Unlike any other entertainment company, Cirque du Soleil will not just visit Mumbai and Delhi but will infuse in the city’s culture with the set up of The Big Top, the main tent, where the performances will take place. The Big Top itself is a wonder that is set up over a period of six days and stands tall at 19 meters (62 feet) high and is 41 meters (135 feet) in diameter accommodating 1500 people at once.

    A cast and crew of 62 people will be travelling to India from over 13 different countries and close to 700 tonnes of equipment will be carried via 25 sea containers. The show will feature a range of acrobatic marvels ranging from teeterboard, portage, acrobatic bike, contortion, duo roller skate, duo trapeze, aerial rope, slackline and live music with one singer and two musicians on stage. With performances pairing imagination and impressive scenography, unique characters, remarkable aesthetics and acrobatic feats; ‘BAZZAR’ will feature key Cirque du Soleil elements. The tickets for the nearly two-hour spectacular will be available starting today exclusively on BookMyShow with prices starting just at INR 1,250 (different for both cities).

    Written and Directed by Susan Gaudreau, Cirque du Soleil – BAZZAR will perfectly capture the high-energy excitement, collision of sounds and colours, and showcase a meeting place of diverse characters recreating a traditional Indian ‘bazaar’.  Lead by their maestro in the show, the troupe comes together to invent a whimsical one-of-a-kind universe in a place where the unexpected is expected, the colourful group reimagines, rebuilds and reinvents vibrant scenes in an artistic, acrobatic game of order and disorder.

    MUMBAI: Max, the premium Hindi movies and special events channel brings you the world television premiere of Youngistaan, a love story set against the backdrop of Indian politics on Sunday, 20th July at 1 pm and 8pm respectively.

     

    The movie directed by Syed Ahmad Afzal has Jackky Bhagnani playing the lead actor, along with Neha Sharma and the late Farooque Shaikh and Boman Irani.  Touching upon burning issues in the country, the movie is relatable and with its little intrigues makes for an interesting watch.

     

    The film revolves around a young, independent, games developer Abhimanyu Kaul (Jackky Bhagnani) residing in Japan who is pulled into political action upon the demise of his father – the current Prime Minister of India. He is forced to give up his otherwise normal and private life to live under the public scanner which irks his live-in girlfriend, Anwita Chauhan (Neha Sharma).

     

    Commenting on the film, Jackky Bhagnani said, “The film has a very strong message that if you need change, you’ll have to make the effort and stop waiting for other people to do it.”

     

    “As the name suggests Youngistaan stands for the youth by the youth and of the youth of India. The film is a common live story in a very uncommon premise,” added Bhagnani.

    Speaking about his experience on filming the thriller, Jimmy Shergill,said,“It was physically challenging shooting for the film and I probably followed the most intense training program to get into shape for the film.However my efforts paid off and I am really happy that the film was well received.”

    NFDC Film Bazaar ’13 Calls for Entries for Work-in-Progress Lab and Viewing Room

    MUMBAI, Friday, 06 September, 2013: Film Bazaar 2013, the promotional arm of NFDC (National Film Development Corporation), announces today, the call for entries for its the Work-in-Progress (WIP) Lab and Viewing Room programs. The submission deadline for entries is September 30th 2013. South Asia’s Global Film Market, will see its seventh edition this year, held from November 20-24, 2013 at the Goa Marriott Resort alongside the International Film Festival of India 2013.

    In the WIP Lab five projects in their rough cut stage are selected to be presented to a panel of international film experts for their feedback. Feature length films and documentaries at the rough cut stage are invited to apply.

    The Viewing Room aims at presenting films seeking finishing funds, world sales, distribution partners & film festivals to investors, world sales agents and film festival programmers. Films of all genres and lengths in rough or final cut are invited to apply. Here films are viewed on individual computer terminals in private booths. These terminals provide details of the film as well as contact the director or producer.

    The films that were a part of the previous Work-in-Progress Labs have had their world premier at leading international films festivals and some even successful theatrical releases.
