Fortune’s funny fight against bad cholesterol

MUMBAI: When bad cholesterol comes knocking, Fortune says not today. In a refreshingly witty spin on health messaging, Fortune rice bran health oil has launched a tongue-in-cheek campaign titled Swipe Away Bad Cholesterol, marking World Heart Day with laughter and learning in equal measure.

The TV commercial opens in a plush housing complex where two men in bright yellow padded suits, personifying ‘bad cholesterol,’ attempt to visit a resident after his weekend binge. Their banter is abruptly cut short by the lady of the house, who refuses to let them in, armed with her secret weapon: Fortune rice bran health oil.

Backed by science, the ad highlights rice bran oil’s natural oryzanol and unsaturated fats, known to support healthy cholesterol balance. The film cleverly turns an everyday indulgence into a light-hearted reminder of smarter cooking choices.

“Food is love, and how we cook reflects what we care for,” said AWL Agri Business Ltd. joint president – sales and marketing Mukesh Mishra “With over 25 per cent of adult Indians having high cholesterol, small choices like switching your cooking oil can make a big difference.”

Extending the campaign beyond screens, Fortune staged quirky on-ground activations in Mumbai, featuring actors dressed as “cholesterol men” playfully engaging with passers-by at Juhu Beach, Bandra Station, and Andheri Metro. The antics drew laughter, and curiosity, before the Fortune mascot arrived to “scare off” the cholesterol culprits.

Through humour and heart, Fortune strengthens its image as more than a kitchen staple, it’s a trusted ally for healthier living in millions of homes.

  • Narayana Health’s World Heart Day campaign turns ketchup sachets into health nudges

Narayana Health’s World Heart Day campaign turns ketchup sachets into health nudges

MUMBAI: Indians love their snacks and they love them with ketchup. This World Heart Day, Narayana Health took that everyday condiment and turned it into a reminder for better heart health.

The healthcare provider launched a pan-India guerrilla marketing campaign titled “check-up sachets”, replacing ordinary ketchup packets with branded versions carrying a hidden message: “Cravings may come suddenly. Heart troubles don’t.” A QR code inside the sachet linked to Narayana Health’s preventive check-up booking page, turning a quick snack into an opportunity for reflection on heart health.

The back of each sachet listed the “real ingredients for a healthy heart”: physical activity, good sleep, balanced diet, fiber and good fats, hydration, fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, stress control, and regular check-ups. Distributed across popular food stalls and cafés in major Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities, the campaign created buzz, sparking conversations while meeting people in everyday, relatable moments.

Heart health is a growing concern in India, with lifestyle-related conditions such as high blood pressure, poor diet, and stress contributing to a rise in cardiovascular issues, especially among people in their 30s and 40s. The “check-up sachets” campaign reminds people that timely check-ups and small, consistent lifestyle changes can make a big difference.

Narayana Health group chief marketing officer Ashish Bajaj said, “Great ideas don’t always need billboards. Sometimes, they fit inside a ketchup sachet. If this campaign makes someone pause, smile, and think about their heart, then we’ve succeeded.”

Country head – brand & marketing  Abhishek Misra added, “The brilliance of ‘check-up sachets’ lies in its simplicity. By turning ketchup into ‘check-up,’ we’ve made preventive healthcare part of daily life. After all, if we never forget to add ketchup to our samosas or rolls, why forget a heart check-up?”

By combining a universally loved snack with a simple, playful message, Narayana Health’s campaign proves that even the smallest packaging can deliver a message that sticks and may just nudge people toward a healthier heart.

Saffola launches AI campaign urging consumers to have a ‘Heart to Heart Talk’

MUMBAI: Saffola, the health-focused FMCG brand from Marico Limited, has launched an AI-powered campaign this World Heart Day to help consumers gauge the true age of their hearts.

Titled ‘Heart to Heart Talk,’ the initiative encourages people to pause, reflect, and engage in a personal conversation with themselves about lifestyle habits that affect heart health. By scanning a QR code, uploading a selfie, and answering a few simple questions on Whatsapp, users receive a personalised AI-generated video revealing the gap between their real age and indicative heart age.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research- India Diabetes (ICMR-INDIAB), one in four Indians has high cholesterol, one in ten is diabetic, and one in three is hypertensive. Even active, young adults may unknowingly put their hearts at risk through daily stress and unhealthy choices.

Marico Limited, CEO – India core business, Ashish Goupal said, “Saffola has always aimed to inspire consumers to take charge of their heart health. ‘Heart to Heart Talk’ is a moment of truth, helping people reflect on how small lifestyle habits can impact well-being and empower them to take meaningful steps towards a healthier tomorrow.”

Conceptualised by team WPP, the campaign includes a digital film depicting a young man caught in unhealthy routines, from breakfast pakodas to late-night junk food. At each step, he is confronted by the reflection of his older self, demonstrating the long-term effects of poor habits. The film highlights ‘Saffola Total Heart Pro’, enriched with Oryzanol to help reduce cholesterol, and shows it being used in everyday cooking to promote healthier choices.

With this initiative, Saffola continues its long-standing mission to promote wholesome living and make heart health awareness both personal and engaging.

  • Saffolalife urges to pay attention to your belly fat

Saffolalife urges to pay attention to your belly fat

MUMBAI: Saffolalife, a not-for-profit initiative by Marico launched a new campaign on World Heart Day. This year, the campaign ‘Dil ki haalat, pet se pakad’ aims to build awareness and educate people on the impact of belly fat on heart health, thereby inspiring people to begin their journey towards a healthier heart and lifestyle.

The campaign kicked off with a digital film conceptualised by McCann Mumbai. The film shows light-hearted moments of family and friends holding a dear one’s belly fat in jest, but in reality it is no laughing matter since belly fat puts your heart at risk. Through the film and campaign, Saffolalife aims to build awareness of a lesser known fact, that the presence of belly fat increases heart risk. The video was launched across social media platforms – YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and OTT platforms like VOOT and HotStar complemented with print releases and on-ground activities to amplify the message ‘pet pakad mein aaye, toh karo dil ka khayal shuru.’

Consumers can also visit the Saffolalife microsite (www.saffolalife.com) and use the Heart Risk Calculator to get a deeper understanding of the extent of their heart risk.

On World Heart Day, Saffolalife also released a research study on the ‘Impact of belly fat on heart health’ which highlighted some astonishing facts such as 67 per cent Indians with belly fat are at heart risk, 83 per cent Indians who are at heart risk due to belly fat do not consider belly fat to be a key reason for heart risk, 6 out of 10 Indians are at heart risk due to belly fat despite having normal weight and 63 per cent Indians under 35 years are at heart risk due to belly fat.

Saffolalife has also partnered with a team of cardiologists and nutritionists who provided various insights on this issue and recommend ways to improve one’s heart health.

Marico chief marketing officer Anuradha Aggarwal says, “We endeavour to build a Heart Healthy India by encouraging people to take charge of their heart health through small yet impactful measures. For over a decade, the Saffolalife initiative has been building awareness on heart health and inspiring people to take care of their heart. This year’s campaign drives an important message on how the presence of belly fat can impact one’s heart health. And, that people should start taking care of their heart if they can see fat around their belly.”

Talking about the campaign, McCann Mumbai EVP GM and national head planning Suraja Kishore adds, “Every World Heart Day, Saffolalife has been raising consciousness of people towards heart health. This time we discovered a powerful insight that made us go one step further. The insight stems from something that most of us worry about but don’t link to heart health which is the presence of belly fat. This led us to the idea of – ‘self-check your heart-health’ by measuring your belly fat.”

  • Fortis brings ‘Mumbai ki Dhadkan’ on World Heart Day

Fortis brings ‘Mumbai ki Dhadkan’ on World Heart Day

MUMBAI: Fortis Healthcare Limited (Fortis), one of India’s largest private healthcare chains, dedicated the anthem Mumbai Ki Dhadkan, to the spirit of the Mumbaikars in tackling heart disease. The anthem has been specially created for Fortis by renowned singer-composer and guitarist Lesle Lewis on the occasion of World Heart day.

Mumbai ki Dhadkan – urges people to adopt a healthier lifestyle for a trouble free heart. The anthem will be promoted in Mumbai through several platforms and will be available for download on the microsite – www.mumbaikidhadkan.in. It will also be accessible on Saavn, YouTube and Facebook. In addition, Mumbai Ki Dhadkan CD’s will also be distributed free in colleges, gyms and clubs.

Fortis will organise a ‘World Heart Concert’ on 29 September on the occasion of the World Heart Day. Lesle Lewis will perform the Anthem live at the MMRDA grounds. Along with Lesle, 10-12 youth bands will also render their own compositions in support of the initiative. The youth bands are being chosen from college-wide promotions that Fortis is currently organising.

Fortis Healthcare regional director – east and west Varun Khanna said, “Music holds a special place in the hearts of people. We hope our musical anthem will serve as a powerful reminder for everyone to wake up to a healthy heart every day of the week. Using youth as the core of our initiative and with the help of colleges in Mumbai, we will hold awareness programs, conduct CPR training sessions and free cardiac check-up camps at all Fortis hospitals in Mumbai and Rotary Clubs over the next month. We hope our initiatives will not only motivate people to live a healthy lifestyle but will also equip them to handle emergency situations to save valuable lives.”

Notably, studies show that people though aware of heart attack as a deadly disease end up ignoring early diagnoses. More than 80 per cent of heart attacks turn fatal because patients do not receive immediate attention following visible signs of a heart attack. This raises the importance of medical help within the “Golden Hour” or the crucial sixty minutes following the first symptom that an attack is in progress.
Lesle Lewis said, “The connection between music and the heart is eternal. It gave me great pleasure to create the music that hopefully will make people listen to their hearts. I hope this unique initiative by Fortis Hospitals will strike the right chord with Mumbaikars in this drive to promote a healthy heart.”
