  • Samsung sparks PC gaming revolution in India with World Cyber Games

    MUMBAI: Samsung India Electronics Ltd. has kicked off the PC gaming revolution in India by announcing the launch of the Cyber Olympics event – the World Cyber Games 2005. The event was kicked off in Delhi yesterday.
     
     The World Cyber Games is the world’s first “Cyber Game Festival,” designed to build a healthy cyber culture. The best gamers around the world gather in various cities to share the excitement and fun of the game tournaments. The World Cyber Games (WCG) have been promoted on the lines of the International Olympic movement. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, South Korea – is the main sponsor for the WCG in over 75 countries this year. The winners from each of the 75 countries will compete at the WCG finals being held at Suntec City Singapore, between 16 – 20 November, 2005.
     
    WCG India preliminary will be held across eight cities in India between 13 – 31 October. The cities are as follows: New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkatta. The preliminaries will be followed by the semi finals and the finals in Mumbai on 30 – 31 October.

    The gaming contest includes team as well as individual games. “PC gaming is today a very evolved sport – fostering virtues of ‘team work’, ‘healthy competitiveness’ between teams and individuals and there is a strong emphasis planning and analytical skills,” said IT Products general manager Harry Ahn.

    “Games like Counter Strike (five member team game), Warcraft , FIFA football, Warhammer and Need for Speed test these attributes in the gamers. While most of us interface with the PC as a productivity enhancement tool, today PC gaming is emerging as a very strong entertainment platform across the world,” Ahn added.
     
    Recognising the needs of the rapidly growing gaming industry in India, Samsung now offers a range of products designed keeping the discerning customers in mind. For serious gamers, Samsung’s MagicGreen Monitors, SATA HDD and Combo Drives are ideal. The MagicBright? Ô technology in Samsung’s recently introduced Magic Green monitors allows for change in screen brightness to suit multiple applications. The technology offers specialised settings for four highly used applications – Movie Mode; Game mode; Internet mode and Text mode.

  • Indiagames, SingTel join hands for first World Cyber Games

    MUMBAI: Indiagames has entered a partnership with SingTel (Singapore Telecommunications Limited) to launch Asia Pacific’s first and largest competition for mobile gamers – World Cyber Games (mobile).
     

     
    SingTel is a part of the eight member Bridge Mobile Alliance that also includes Airtel (India). The WCG Mobile Championship will be hosted on SingTel’s GamesXtremeLeague (GXL) Mobile platform.

    It is a regional mobile games platform with features such as registration, community news and ranking of scores, etc. It is facilitated by Bridge Mobile’s regional infrastructure, enabling IP connectivity between member operators as well as regional billing settlement capabilities.

     
     
    Indiagames holds the global rights for WCG Mobile Tournament, licensed from International Cyber Marketing (ICM), to host the World Cyber Games Competition for mobile phones.

    The event will be kicked off in Asia Pacific region and will pit mobile gamers in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan against one another.

    Players across the region will be engaged first on an online championship followed by a ground event in some countries where the national champions will be selected. These national champions will be then flown down to Singapore in November for the Grand Finals where they will compete with other participants across the world to be the ultimate winners.

    Indiagames selects World Cyber Game winners for brand ambassadors

    MUMBAI: Indiagames, online and mobile games company has signed on the World Cyber Games finalists to represent the brand as part of its ‘ Games on Demand (GoD) Ambassador Program’.

    The four representitves include Reuben Pereira from Mumbai, Sharath Pai from Cochin, Uma Deekshith from Hyderabad and Harsh Oza from Ahmedabad have all been regional finalists and even represented India at the finals of the World Cyber Games.

    As part of the agreement, they will participate in various gaming tournaments on behalf of Indiagames, endorse its products, services, clothing and accessories and create awareness about its Games on Demand service amongst gamers. The GoD Ambassadors will blog regularly on the Indiagames social networking service – Tadka Live to share their gaming experiences with fellow gamers.

    The Conference agreed that the transition period from analogue to digital broadcasting, which begins at 0001 UTC 17 June 2006, should end on 17 June 2015, but some cIn addition to these, Indiagames is also in the process of signing up other gamers across the country and launching its GoD Ambassador campaign as part of the Program, informs an official release.
