    Turner adds three channels on YuppTV’s platform in India

    NEW DELHI: Turner International India has joined hands with YuppTV to offer three of its channels namely CNN International, Cartoon Network and Pogo in India on the over the top (OTT) platform.

     

    Under the partnership, CNN International is available live to YuppTV viewers with the latest news bulletins from across the globe and the best of features content through award winning programs including CNN Newsroom, Connect the World, International Desk, World Business Today, Amanpour, Business Traveler, Talk Asia and Culinary Journeys

     

    YuppTV subscribers also get the best original productions from Turner’s kids’ channels, Cartoon Network and Pogo. While Cartoon Network will offer a four-hour programming block on YuppTV with popular shows such as Ben 10, Johnny Bravo, Adventure Time and Dexter’s Laboratory, Pogo will provide a two-hour programming block with shows like M.A.D. (Music Art Dance), C.I.A. (Cambala Investigation Agency), Sunaina and F.A.Q.

    As was reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com, YuppTV, which recently launched its platform in India is planning to raise $50 million to fund its expansion plans.

    CNN International launches ‘Smart Business’

    MUMBAI: CNN International has announced the launch of Smart Business – a new weekly feature segment that will profile the trailblazers using innovative new approaches and the latest technology to create new business opportunities.

     

    From 3 September, Smart Business will air on the network during the recently-launched The Business View with Nina Dos Santos and World Business Today so that it reaches EMEA and Asia primetime audiences. Each week the segment will feature a different company or industry personality who has broken the mould in the world of business to thrive in a digitised and connected world.

     

    Smart Business aims at helping viewers learn first-hand about a wide range of workplace innovations on topics as diverse as digital advertising, supply chains, business intelligence and technical literacy to name a few. The first Smart Business segments will include: Seattle-based pioneer Blab, which is using technology to predict what conversations will happen on social media; co-working space The Factory, Berlin’s first major start-up hub; and UK company Decoded, whose coding courses help employees unlock the digital world. Each report will explain how the company or individual harnessed opportunities through digital innovation, illustrate the change to the wider marketplace and in the process solve age-old problems of doing business.

     

    Online, a dedicated microsite will supplement the show’s video content with in-depth stories, Q&As and opinion pieces as well as infographics and data visualisation.

    CNN Asia Pacific promotes Ellana Lee to VP

    MUMBAI: News broadcaster CNN announced today that Ellana Lee is moving into a new position at the network’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.

    Currently managing editor, her role as VP of Asia will expand her responsibilities to encompass all of CNN’s operations and award-winning on-air and online news and feature programming from across the Asia Pacific region.

    “I’m thrilled and honored to be taking on this new position as Vice President. Asia Pacific is a remarkable and dynamic region and I look forward to working alongside our fantastic team of talented producers and correspondents to further strengthen our Asian editorial coverage for millions of viewers worldwide,” she said.

    Through her managerial responsibility for CNN’s correspondents and newsgathering teams across nine Asia Pacific editorial operations, she has overseen a remarkable six months of coverage since the turn of the year, from the devastating Japan earthquake and tsunami in March, ongoing unrest in the Middle East to the death of Osama bin Laden.

    Lee has also been instrumental in the launch of a new Asia Primetime programming line-up, a new Hong Kong-based show called News Stream and four weeks of extended regional coverage in Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and Indonesia.
