    Glance recruits digital exec Lalwani

    MUMBAI: Tarun Lalwani has jumped ship from JioStar to take up the role of director of strategic partnerships, content strategy and design at Glance, the mobile lock screen platform.

    The move comes after a remarkably brief five-month stint at JioStar, where Lalwani served as senior director of digital licensing and partnerships following the merger of streaming services JioCinema and Hotstar.

    Lalwani brings a packed portfolio of digital content experience to his new position. Before his lightning-quick tenure at JioStar, he spent over three years at Viacom18, where he climbed to senior director overseeing digital licensing, strategic partnerships, user growth and content partnerships.

    His CV reads like a who’s who of India’s digital entertainment landscape, with previous roles at ESPN, Hotstar, IndiaCast and Wizcraft International Entertainment.

    At Glance, which transforms smartphone lock screens into content discovery platforms, Lalwani will likely leverage his extensive experience in forging partnerships across the digital content ecosystem.

    Wizcraft wins big at the Asian Brand and Leadership Summit in Dubai

    MUMBAI: The inaugural edition of the Asian Brand and Leadership Summit saw Wizcraft International Entertainment win the award for Asia’s most promising brand. Known in Indian and international circles as a pioneer in the field of events and experiential marketing in India, Wizcraft has been doing well over the years. 

    Asia’s Most Promising Brands and Leaders 2012-2013 flagged off The Asian Brand and Leadership Summit 2013 in Dubai. Held over two days, 26 -27 August 2013, the event is an initiative by World Consulting and Research Corporation (WCRC) and ibrands 360 research.

    Speaking on the win, Wizcraft International Entertainment director Sabbas Joseph said, “This is a moment of great pride for Wizcraft, we have always strived to make a difference in the events and experiential marketing sector.     Wizcraft has been in the forefront of some of the largest events and entertainment spectaculars including the 50 Years of Indian Independence, the 30 Years of Mauritian Independence, the 10 years of the South African Freedom Struggle, the National Games Opening and Closing ceremonies, the Handover ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, the Opening and Closing ceremonies for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and the ICC World Cup Opening and Closing ceremonies.

The two day Summit felicitated brands and their leaders. 200 Most Promising Brands in Asia, Legends of Asia, Awards for the Most Promising Leaders in Asia, Special Awards in Marketing & Business were awarded for their innovation and contribution to Asia. The focus was on Brands (with revenues less than $10 billion) that are successfully taking on and beating their competitors in their respective fields through their steady growth and presence. For the first time ever, it also brought out Leaders who have led the way to make their companies ‘The Most Promising Brands’.

    Liv Ullmann to attend IIFA weekend

    MUMBAI: Hollywood’s legendary actress Liv Ullmann will attend the Videocon IIFA Weekend between 7 and 9 June in Singapore.

    The 74-year-old actress is due to showcase her latest film Liv and Ingmar, based on her life story on 8 June. This is for the first time that an international film will be showcased at the IIFA event to a select audience.

    Averred Wizcraft Entertainment International director Andre Timmins, “Liv Ullmann is one of the most beautiful and talented actors of our time. I am overjoyed not only because she will attend the IIFAs this year but we are also delighted that she will share her film Liv and Ingmar with our film fraternity, a film that is so close to her heart.”

    The film is an affectionate yet truthful account of the 42 years and 12 films long association between Liv and filmmaker Ingmar Bergman. Ullmann, who hails from Norway, has contributed in the form of two interviews and readings from her book ‘Changing’.

    “The film is not made by me but by a young and very creative filmmaker from India – Dheeraj Akolkar. He allowed even me to see many of the most important times of my life in a new and thought evoking way! It somehow changed some of my own memories. It gives me immense pride to be a part of the IIFA celebrations with this film. And I am looking forward to come to Singapore on this occasion,”observed Ullmann.

    The Videocon IIFA Weekend, presented by Videocon Industries, is organised by Wizcraft International Entertainment.

    MUMBAI: The year 2012 marks the beginning to the celebrations for the ‘100 years of Indian Cinema’. In its initiative to flag off the centenary celebrations, the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, in association with Wizcraft International Entertainment and Colors, is all set to flag off the ‘event at the 7th Apsara Awards scheduled to take place on 25 January at the Yash Raj Studios.

    Announcing the same Film and Television Producers Guild President Ramesh Sippy said, “The Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Awards is an effort to mark the success of the growing Indian entertainment Industry. We are very excited to honor and felicitate that group of incredible people who have continued to make a significant contribution to this industry. This year too, we hope to inspire and empower achievers from the fraternity, especially with the entertainment industry all set to welcome the 100 years of Indian cinema.”

    The event promises to get stronger on its entertainment and celebrity quotient this year reiterating what Apsara Awards stand for. As a special segment of the celebrations, the awards night will showcase a special tribute dedicated to the legends of Indian cinema and their glorious years in Bollywood. A melody of hits will showcase hit songs from the yesteryears and the stars that emulated the iconic on-screen characters.

    The Apsara Awards, a joint initiative by the Film & Television Producers Guild and Wizcraft International Entertainment, was instituted to honour exceptional talent and breed new potential within the Film and Television industry.

    MUMBAI: The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) has announced that the Idea IIFA Awards, the highlight of the IIFA Weekend would be held in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, this year. The IIFA Weekend will be held from 14 June to 17 June, 2006 culminating with the glittering Idea IIFA Awards presentation ceremony on 16 June, 2006 at the Airport Expo.

    Star Network will broadcast the IIFA Weekend and the Idea IIFA Awards 2006 exclusively across the globe.

    Announcing this at a high-powered conference held at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai, Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd revealed that the IIFA Weekend 2006 and the Idea IIFA Awards will be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president, Dubai Civil Aviation, chairman of the Emirates Group and chairman of the Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Shopping Surprises.

    As always, the IIFA Weekend promises to be packed with action, with a film festival, the world premiere of a blockbuster Indian film and the FICCI – IIFA Global Business Forum, states an official release.
