    With an intriguing theme, stunning visuals, a plethora of noteworthy performances that amp up the entertainment and action on the series and an intricate storyline that has blown minds around the world, Westworld is based on a futuristic western-themed amusement park called Westworld which is populated by android ‘hosts’ and caters to high paying ‘human’ guests who may indulge their wildest fantasies within the park without any fear of retaliation. While the hosts are programmed in a way to prevent them from harming humans, what are the hosts capable of doing, when all hell breaks loose and they are able to deviate from their set ways?

    Inspired by Michael Crichton’s film, Westworld (1973) and his revolutionary vision on artificial intelligence, the TV series had been developed by creators – Lisa Joy andJonathan Nolan. The Nolan brother has co-created and co-written a number of blockbuster movies including Interstellar, The Prestige, The Batman Series along with Christopher Nolan. 

    To add to the extraordinary storyline is the remarkable performances by the star-studded cast such as the highly-veneratedAnthony Hopkins of The Silence of the Lambs, Amistad, Thor fame. Evan Rachel Wood of Mildred Pierce, Thirteen, True Blood, The Ides of March popularity has also showcased a certain vulnerability unique in its own unravelling along with the steeliness that James Marsden of X-Men, The Notebook, 27 Dresses fame brings to his character. Thandie Newton’s profound performance adds to this dystopia’s feat and has garnered many nominations across some of the most prestigious awards platforms including Golden Globes and Emmys as well as winning Critics’ Choice Awards.

    MUMBAI: After a successful run with series of the year like Westworld and This is Us, Star World Premiere HD is all set to premiere season 2 of the mystery thriller The Missing. The show will air on 13 December at 10 pm.

    The season 1, about a father’s years-long quest to find his 5-year-old son who disappeared during a family holiday in France, received rave reviews from around the world. The anthology series is now back with a dramatic and riveting season 2 as detective Julien Baptiste returns to pursue the case of Alice Webster played by Abigail Hardingham. In 2003, Alice was abducted from an English school near a military base in Eckhausen, Germany. And now, 11 years later, she stumbles back in to the same town having apparently escaped her captors. And we face the ultimate question of what happened to her?

    Alice’s sudden disappearance 11 years ago left her family in trauma. Her father, Sam became emotionally wrecked and grew apart from the rest of his family. Alice’s brother Matthew, who was the last person to see his sister before she was abducted, is all grown-up but his behavior has become increasingly erratic. Gemma (Alice’s mother) still carries around the grief of not knowing the truth about what happened to her daughter.

    Julien Baptiste, the renowned French missing persons detective, finds himself unable to let go of his past cases in order to settle into retirement. The return of Alice Webster is an event that goes right to his heart, and he races out of his own jurisdiction to pursue a 12 year-old case that he refused to let die.

    The thriller show also stars David Morrissey, Keeley Hawes, Laura Fraser, etc

The season finale will be a super-sized 90 minute long episode titled The Bicameral Mind. Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the season stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Evan Rachel Wood, Jimmi Simpson, etc.

    The show will air on 6 December at 10 pm.

    “We weren’t interested in spinning out mysteries with no answers in sight,” Nolan said. “Our goal is to tell an ambitious story in season-long chapters, each with a distinct feel and theme.”

    Joy added, “Most of the questions viewers have will be resolved in the final episodes, except for the most important one: What happens next.”

    So what’s happening with our favourite characters in the season finale episode? The episode will follow the characters closely as Dr. Ford unveils his vision for a bold new narrative; enlightened by Bernard and The Man in Black, Dolores will come to terms with who she is and Maeve will set her liberation plan in motion as Westworld is bound to face a major upheaval.

    For those who want to binge-watch the TV series, Westworld will air all day, from its very first episode, on 31 December and 1 January, 12 pm onwards.
