    BARC week 22: Star Plus continues to hold position in urban market and pay platform

    MUMBAI: STAR PLUS tops the chart on the pay platform and in the urban market in Week 22 of 2020 (Saturday, 30 May 2020 to Friday, 5 June 2020) of Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) data.  However, Star Plus slips down to third position in the rural market. Dangal which is on seventh position on the pay platform does better with gaining third spot in the urban market and top spot in the rural market. 

    On pay platform STAR PLUS, SONY SAB, STAR Utsav, Colors, Sony Entertainment Television, Sony Pal, Dangal, DD National, Zee TV, and STAR Bharat were the top ten channels in the week 22 of BARC India ratings.

    In the urban market top ten channels were STAR Plus, Sony SAB, Dangal, Colors, STAR Utsav, Sony Entertainment Television, DD National, Sony Pal, Big Magic and &TV in week 22 of BARC India ratings.

    Dangal, Big Magic, STAR  PLUS, SONY SAB, DD National, STAR Utsav, Sony Pal, Zee Anmol, Colors, Sony Entertainment Television were the top ten channels in the rural market in week 22 of BARC ratings.

    On the free platform Dangal, Big Magic, DD National, DD Bharti, Manoranjan Grand,  DD Retro, DD Uttar Pradesh, DD Madhya Pradesh, DD Rajasthan, DD Prabha were the top ten channels in week 22 of BARC ratings.

    BARC week 22: Sun TV continues on top across genres, Sony Max down to fourth

    MUMBAI:  Sun TV continued its run at the top position in week 22 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, followed by Star Plus and Colors at second and third place respectively with Sony Max moving to fourth place from last week’s second place. 

    The last five saw movement along with a re-entry and an exit. Star Utsav moved up a place to sixth from last week’s seventh. Zee Anmol re-entered the list, while Maa TV exited after a short stint at tenth place last week. Its peer in the Telugu space, Zee Telugu retained eighth place. The list covers the top 10 channels across all genres.

    Placed at the top slot, Sun TV reported higher ratings in week 22 at 979272 Impression (000s) as compared to 965644 Impression (000s) in week 21. Star Plus moved back after a long IPL driven haitus that had pushed it and Colors down. Star Plus reported higher ratings with 771342 Impression (000s) in week 22 as compared to 701975 Impression (000s) in the previous week.

    Colors moved up in week 22 with 720052 Impression (000s) as compared to 679907 Impressions (000s) in week 21. Sony Max with a far lower score in week 22 of 618756 Impression (000s) as compared to 884251 Impression (000s) in the previous week was at fourth week.

    Zee TV retained fifth space in week 22 with lower ratings of 567178 Impressions (000s) as compared to 570091 Impressions (000s) in the previous week. 

    Star Utsav also retained sixth place with a growth in rating to 527825 Impressions (000’s) from 478993 Impressions (000’s) in the previous week. , Sony Pal also retained its last week’s position of seventh place with 526739 Impressions (000’s) as compared to 467806 Impressions (000’s).

    Life OK returned to eight spot, pushing down Zee Telugu one place in week 22 with 438899 Impressions (000s) as compared to 435353 Impressions (000s) in week 21

    ZeeTelugu moved one place down to ninth place in week 22 with 472509 Impressions (000s) as compared to 458926 Impressions (000s) during last week.

    Zee Anmol returned to the top ten list in week 22 after a one week break with 431517 Impressions (000s).

    Week 22: BARC rolls out combined Rural+ Urban ratings along with the separate data

    MUMBAI: From week 19, Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) started reporting data by dividing ratings into rural and urban categories. In week 22, BARC has given a new twist to the ratings by introducing the combined data of Rural plus Urban. Hence, from week 22, BARC will give separate Rural and Urban data along with the combined Rural and Urban Hindi GEC ratings.  

    Hindi GEC (Rural )

    Star Utsav continued to garner the first position with 411183 Impressions (000’s) followed by Sony Pal with 396763 Impressions (000’s) and Zee Anmol with 331471 Impressions (000’s) stood at number three.

    Colors’ free to air channel Rishtey replaced Zee TV at fourth spot with 269190 Impressions followed by Star Plus which stood at fifth number with 245291 Impressions’ 000s and Zee TV at sixth spot with 230765 Impressions 000’s.

    Colors maintained its seventh spot with 229334 Impressions (000’s) and Life OK stood at number eight with 168745 Impressions (000’s).

    In rural data,  Big Magic stood at number nine with 157099 Impressions (000’s) and Sab TV with 115260 Impressions (000’s) grabbed tenth spot.

    Hindi GEC (Urban )

    Star Plus continued to lead the Hindi general entertainment channel (GECs) with 465665 Impressions (000’s) followed by Colors with 456104 (000’s) on second slot and Zee TV with 291474 Impressions (000’s) at third place.

    With no change in the ranking order, Life OK, Sab TV and Sony Entertainment Channel bagged fourth, fifth and sixth position with 291474 Impressions (000’s), 256888 Impressions (000’s) and 240040 Impressions (000’s) respectively.

    Sony’s free to air channel Sony Pal grabbed the seventh spot with 128739 (000’s) and &TV stood at eighth spot with 119527 Impressions (000’s).

    Star Utsav stood at number ninth berth with 114881 Impressions (000’s) while Zee Anmol grabbed tenth place at 99308 Impressions (000’s)

    Hindi GEC (Rural + Urban)

    Even in Hindi GEC (Rural + Urban), Star India stood at numero uno, its Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus lead the genre with 710956 Impressions (’000s) followed by Colors at second slot with 685438 Impressions’ (000s).

    On the other hand, Star India’s free to air channel Star Utsav bagged the third spot with 526064 Impressions (’000s) and SPN’s Sony Pal managed to take garb fourth spot in the genre with 525502 Impressions ‘(000s).  

    While Zee TV maintained the fifth slot with 524824 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Life OK at number six with 460218 Impressions’ (000s) and Zee Anmol at number seven with 430779 Impressions (000’s) respectively.

    In rural+ urban data, Sab TV, Rishtey and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) grabbed the eighth, ninth, tenth slot with 372148 Impressions (000’s), 360492 Impressions (000’s) and 333131 Impressions (000’s) respectively

    MUMBAI: From week 19, Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) started reporting data by dividing ratings into rural and urban categories.
