    MUMBAI: Riding on its fast-growing popularity, WeChat, a mobile social app, has unveiled its latest brand campaign conceptualised by Ogilvy & Mathers.

     

    As part of the campaign, the TVC features WeChat’s brand ambassadors – Parineeti Chopra and Varun Dhawan and is already running on television and online screens with the tagline – “Naye Purane Ajeeb Shajeeb, all friends are now on WeChat – the all in one social app”.

     

    Speaking on the occasion, WeChat spokesperson Katie Lee said, “We are overwhelmed by the positive response which our Indian users have given to WeChat. It is the love of our users which inspires WeChat to continuously innovate and evolve with more and more exciting features.”

     

    The tagline and the TVC capture the essence of WeChat of being the preferred platform for the youth to connect with all their friends. The TVC drives home WeChat’s growing pre-eminence in the Indian mobile social and communication app space and reinforces its positioning as the most innovative app for the Indian youth to share, connect and communicate with their friends.

     

    “WeChat is a complete mobile social communication app loaded with all the features which our users look for to connect with their friends. This TVC showcases our unique position of being an ‘all-in-one app’ which resonates with the spirit of the youth of the country, who want to stay connected with their friends and family through conventional messaging as well as fun and exciting elements like ‘Voice Messaging’, ‘Stickers’, ‘Photo sharing’, ‘Video Chatting’, ‘Location-based Features’.     WeChat aims to reinvent social communication on mobile in India

    MUMBAI: WeChat, a global mobile social communication application, has unveiled its latest brand campaign to boost its marketing effort with Bollywood actors Parineeti Chopra and Varun Dhawan as the brand ambassadors of WeChat in India.

    The brand campaign captures the “true spirit” of WeChat of being young, effervescent and instant. The campaign also showcases WeChat’s distinctive features like voice messaging, group chat, moments and special emoticons.

    With a bundle of features like ‘Hold-To-Talk’, WeChat is all set to re-define the way people communicate with each other. WeChat’s ‘Hold-To-Talk’ is the first application in communication space which enables users to send voice messages at the touch of a button.

    ‘Moments’ is another key differentiating feature of WeChat where users can post image or text and share with their selected friends in a secure way.

    According to the company, WeChat has already become a rage amongst Indian youth and is the top app downloaded daily on the AppStore. WeChat’s daily users have grown five fold in the last one month.

    WeChat has also introduced “Official Accounts” on its platform, a feature that can be utilised by companies and merchants to build interactivity with their fans in a new and innovative way. Brands like Café Coffee Day, Big Bazaar, Yahoo! Cricket, Goibibo, Santa Banta, and Tradus are amongst the earliest brands to start their official accounts on WeChat in India, the company said.

    The global top free mobile social communication application WeChat, was launched in India in July last year across iPhone, Android, Symbian, and Windows Phone platforms and was recently launched on the BlackBerry platform as well.

    Tencent‘s messaging app WeChat launches on Blackberry

    MUMBAI: Tencent, a leading internet company, has announced the availability of its mobile messaging app WeChat on the BlackBerry platform.

    With its launch on BlackBerry platform, millions of BlackBerry users will now be able to also use WeChat. BlackBerry loyalists in India can download the application for free from the BlackBerry App World.

    WeChat for BlackBerry comes with the app’s core features like ‘push-to-talk’, Instant Messaging, Voice Messaging, Group Chat and Photo Sharing, and new features to be introduced along the way.
    WeChat, which claims to have crossed 300 million registered users globally, is a free mobile voice and text messaging application which was launched in India in July last year across iPhone, Android, Symbian, and Windows platforms. It will now also be available for BlackBerry users.

    Dennis Hau, Head of Product Center, International Business Group, Tencent said: "With our new record growth of 300+ million user accounts globally, we are continuing with our mission to be accessible on more platforms. Now, we are delighted to announce the official launch of WeChat’s BlackBerry app.”

We are pleased to have WeChat available on BlackBerry App World, offering another great way for our customers to stay connected with their friends and family while on the move.”

  • Fox Star Studios partners with WeChat to promote new movie

    Mumbai: Fox Star Studios has partnered with social messaging app provider WeChat in India to promote its latest Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer – ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola‘.

    This is a concept where Bollywood movie characters – Matru and Bijlee have created their accounts on WeChat to connect with their fans through this mobile app to promote their upcoming movie. For instance Matru will share behind the scene images, videos and sound bytes with users of WeChat.

    Additionally, WeChat is running a contest where users stand a chance to meet the movie stars and also win tickets of the movie.

    Fox Star Studios head of distribution, marketing and syndication Vivek Krishnani said, “At Fox Star Studios we always are looking at innovative ways to connect with our audience. WeChat is a great app which helps to reach out to the youth who love movies and are hooked on to their Smart phones.”

    The film is produced by Vishal Bharadwaj along with Fox Star Studios and is all set for its worldwide release on 11 January.
