    MUMBAI: Friendship and brotherhood is the support system that sees millennials through moments of self-doubt and obstacles and is truly responsible for shaping them. McDowell’s No.1 Luxury Soda by United Spirits Limited – a Diageo Group Company is now bringing alive such friendships of well-known personalities from real to reel life in a brand new talk show called No. 1 Yaari in collaboration with Mindshare & Group M. Hosted by superstar Rana Daggubati, who is known to be a true friend in the entertainment industry the show will be aired on Gemini TV starting 25th June, 2017, every Sunday at 8:30 to 9:30 pm.

    The show brings together for the first time as guests, Tollywood stars and their real-life BFFs who will share their behind-the-door secrets, friendship defining moments & play interesting games with Rana, while the fans will be treated to some never seen before videos and the audience, get to ask their favorite stars questions to know them better.

    This show’s production is managed by Sprint Telefilms and is being directed by Sanjeev K Kumar. Sanjeev has previously been associated with successful shows like Jabardasth, Dhee, Cash N Kevvu Kabaddi and has won various awards for his work. Viewers will be able to catch the extended version of the episode on the VIU APP exclusively– a one stop destination for great original content.

  • Viu enters Middle East, to provide buffer-free content

    MUMBAI: Video-on-demand (VOD) service provider Vuclip has launched Viu, a direct to consumer VOD service, in the Middle East. The platform is already available in Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Hong Kong and Singapore.

    In the Middle East, content will be available without charge, while premium content can be viewed without advertisements, after paying a monthly subscription fee. Users across the region now have access to tens of thousands of hours of local, regional and international premium entertainment, built on Vuclip’s patented Dynamic Adaptive Transcoding technology to offer viewers a buffer free viewing experience.

    The platform offers regional, international and local entertainment on-demand content, including Egyptian, Syrian, Khaleeji and Tunisian TV dramas.

    Users can access classic movies and recent blockbusters, as well as curated music videos for over 6,000 songs from artists such as Nicole Saba, Amr Diab, Hassan El Shafei, Nancy Ajram, Ramy Sabrya and Maya Diab. Bollywood content can also be streamed, with films, popular TV shows and music videos featuring stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone.

    The company recently sealed a deal with Indian content house Shemaroo to add more content to the Viu platform.

  • Viu goes regional with original

    MUMBAI: Vuclip has announced that its premium OTT service Viu, will launch the production of originals, both in long and short form, in regional languages this year, beginning with Telugu. For the same, Viu is partnering with Annapurna Studios, a leading production house for film and TV content, with Telugu film hits such as Shiva, Ninne Pelladutha, Rajanna and Manam in its roster.

    “We know the kind of fervor Telugu films evoke. As a brand, we are a celebration of this fandom and are proud to partner with Annapurna Studios, one of the best production houses in the business. Going regional with our Originals content strategy is a means to bring premium local entertainment to the global Telugu audience” said Vuclip India country head Vishal Maheshwari.

    It will co-produce a premium and uniquely youthful urban entertainer in Telugu titled PillA through this partnership in association with one of South India’s fastest growing digital networks, Tamada Media to be directed by Pavan Sadineni. This show is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2017.

    The partnership will also see the co-production of a wedding comedy set in rustic Amalapuram with a working title Pelli Gola which is directed by Mallik Ram.

    Additionally, Viu will host two short form original shows titled Munching with Mahathalli and Cinema Pichollo in Telugu on 18 February that celebrate the fandom of Tollywood cinema. It has partnered with Tamada Media and Whacked Out! Media, respectively for these two short form originals.

    Munching with Mahathalli is a 26-episode series in which Tollywood’s Jahnavi Dasetty conducts satirical interviews with stereotypical characters of the Telugu film industry played by her. The show will have special guests from the film industry who will be seen having a gala time with Jahnavi on the show.

    The other show starring ‘Viva’ Harsha is a celebration of Tollywood cinema and the fanaticism associated with it. Titled Cinema Pichollo, the star will be anchoring the show along with Shanmukh Jaswanth in a 26-episode series.

    In addition to adding Telugu premium shows to its catalogue, Viu will become the first OTT VOD service in India with customized video offerings in regional languages starting with Telugu.

    MUMBAI: Times Network’s Shantanu Gangane has resigned as the head of marketing and joined Vuclip as the head of marketing, Viu India.. Gangane served his last day on 13 January in Times Network where he was heading the marketing of Times Now, ET Now and Zoom.

    A source close to the development confirmed the news to Indiantelevision.com that Gangane has joined Vuclip from 16 January. He will report to Vuclip India country head Vishal Maheshwari.

    Gangane served as the head of marketing at Times Television Network for two and a half years from August 2014. He was the associate business head of Movies Now of the same group between April 2013 and June 2014 after being the head – marketing since September 2010.

    Prior to that, he was the senior manager – marketing – MTV at Viacom18 Media. Between September 2007 and August 2010, he was the senior brand manager at Radio City India before which he was the manager marketing at Nickelodeon for close to two years till August 2007.

    Starting his career with FCB Ulka as the client servicing manager in June 2003, Gangane had joined Viacom18 in March 2005 where he served for 10 months before making the next switch.

    MUMBAI: Bollywood director, producer and auteur Vikram Bhatt is all set to launch two new premium shows on Viu, the OTT video on demand entertainment service of Vuclip. The shows commissioned by the platform will be co-produced by Bhatt and digital media company Culture Machine. The two new shows are slated to be released exclusively on Viu in the first quarter of 2017.

    “With an auteur par excellence like Vikram Bhatt presenting the soon to be launched shows, subscribers of Viu should be in for a visual treat come 2017,” said Vuclip India country head Vishal Maheshwari.

    The first of the untitled shows falls under the urban thriller genre with supernatural elements, while the other show is based on the life of a reigning Bollywood star who overcomes odds to achieve superstardom, offering viewers an inside view of the world of glamour, elusive love and scandalous controversies that are associated with it.

    A veteran of four movies shot in 3D, Bhatt will be using a new filming technology for one of these shows.

    “Always exciting to work on projects for a digital audience. The creative challenge is to hold on to their attention and make them want for more”, said Bhatt. “The allure of the paranormal that plays on in your minds and the vicarious thrill of knowing what it is like to lead the life of a Bollywood star are sure to glue the audience to their laptop or mobile screens.”

    He further added, “The star cast will be announced in the next ten days. What you can expect is very strong characterizations of the female protagonists”.

    MUMBAI: Vuclip, a PCCW Media Company and the leading premium video on demand (VOD) service for emerging markets, has today announced the launch of ‘Viru ke Funde’, a fifteen episode web series that will be streamed on Vuclip’s OTT Video on Demand Service – Viu.

    Virender Sehwag will play the central character in the show and will be seen doling out advice to his group of friends on issues such as weight loss, managing stress, dodging telemarketers and the taxman as well as ways to win an argument with your better half and learning to cope with your mother-in-law’s taunts among others.

    The show was conceptualized based on Vuclip’s research insight that 60% of India’s digital audiences show the propensity to consume cricket focused comedy genre content which ties well with Sehwag’s raw, earthy and ‘in your face’ humor which has made him a Twitter sensation with over 7.5 million followers.

    The first five episodes of the show have been released today on Viu, with one new episode scheduled to be released every day for the next ten days until 2 December 2016.

    With a run time of about two minutes per episode, the show marks the advent of ‘Micro Originals’ – short form snackable video content aimed at entertaining the mobile audience ‘on the go.’ This effort also underscores Viu’s differentiated short form content strategy.
