    Mumbai: Pro Kabaddi League has decided to take fan engagement to the next level during the ongoing vivo PKL Season 9.

    Exclusively available on the vivo PKL app and the website, vivo PKL unplugged will consist of several exciting segments such as the Ultimate Panga Fan, Mazedaar Panga, Coach ki Soch and Rapid Fire Raid.

    The Ultimate Panga Fan series will provide a never-before opportunity for kabaddi fans to express their love for their favourite teams and players, while, the stars will also be seen entertaining the fans through trending challenges and snappy rapid fires. In addition, kabaddi fans will get a chance to hear from all 12 Head Coaches about the nitty-gritties of coaching and their side of the story.

    Speaking about the launch of PKL Unplugged, Vivo Pro Kabaddi League, league commissioner and Mashal Sports head sports leagues Anupam Goswami said, “With increasing ascriptive stature of PKL athletes, we realise that fans want to see and engage with their PKL heroes beyond the mat as well.  That’s why vivo PKL Unplugged is a special initiative for us as this will give the fans a brilliant chance to get to know the persona behind the superstars that they are. This is a new journey for us and we will keep looking to come up with out-of-the-box initiatives for our fans in the future.”

    The ongoing Season 9 of the vivo Pro Kabaddi League was launched at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, Bengaluru on 7 October and was conducted there till 26 October, after which the League moved to the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune on 28 October. The third leg of the tournament will be held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad from 18 November to 10 December before the playoffs and the final.

    Mumbai: Mashal Sports, organisers of the vivo Pro Kabaddi League, has announced the dates for the ninth season of the league. The league will start on 7 October 2022 and will go on till mid-December. The league stage will be conducted in Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad.

    Mashal Sports conducted the player auction in Mumbai on 5-6 August, 2022, according to the media release.

    Mashal Sports executive head and vivo Pro Kabaddi league commissioner Anupam Goswami said, “Mashal Sports started the journey of vivo Pro Kabaddi League with a vision of taking the indigenous sport of kabaddi to the world of contemporary and upcoming generations of sports fans.”

    We continue to achieve impressive success in this goal, as was proven earlier this year by vivo PKL season eight, which was conducted in a comprehensive bio-bubble. Now, we are even more enthusiastic about the upcoming vivo PKL season 9 as our fans will be back in stadiums across Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad to experience the pulsating action up-close of their favourite teams and stars,” he added.

    Irfan Pathan and Brett Lee have indulged in a friendly Kabaddi match during the pre-show Philips Hue Cricket Live for the ICC Cricket World Cup. Stephen Fleming has played and motivated talented group of young kabaddi players. Captain cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni has lent his support by being part of the VIVO PKL Campaign. Shikhar Dhawan’s famous moustache look and his adopted celebratory Kabaddi Thigh Five will stay among all cricket and Kabaddi fans. Team India captain Virat Kohli is not far behind, he has graced his presence at various matches in the past and has enjoyed the sport as a spectator. Star Sports’ initiative of bringing cricketing fans closer to Kabaddi is one-step towards the sport growing leaps and bounds with every passing season. Through clever marketing initiatives, including branding during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 to launching the main thematic campaign “ ISSE KUCH TOUGH NAHI" for VIVO PKL 7 during the games, the network has left no stone unturned in creative enough preseason buzz ahead on the July 20th opening in Hyderabad.

    Another promo launched by Star Sports integrating Kabaddi in the cricketing field of play was with Pardeep Narwal.     VIVO PKL SEASON 7, returns with a new format on July 20th 2019. The opening match will be between Telugu Titans and U Mumba followed by Season 6 champions Bengaluru Bulls taking on three-time champions, Patna Pirates. Fans can catch the LIVE coverage with telecast beginning at 7:00 pm and matches beginning at 7:30 pm on the Star Sports Network and Hotstar in multiple languages including Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, English and Hindi.

    MUMBAI: Recognising talent identification and development as a key agenda, Mashal Sports Pvt. Ltd., the organisers and rights owners of the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League today announced the Future Kabaddi Heroes (FKH) programme 2019, a comprehensive talent scouting and development initiative to foster and nurture future Kabaddi champions. Initiated in 2017, the programme has been the pathway for young high potential kabaddi players to prove their mettle on the mat at VIVO PKL.

    Divided into 3 phases, the FKH programme in its first phase this year will be conducted across 11 cities, commencing on 05th February 2019 in Mumbai. The other locations would be Patna, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Lucknow, Nagpur, Guwahati, Bangalore, Jaipur, and the Junior Nationals. The cities have been chosen basis expert assessment of Kabaddi talent identified in local tournaments held there in the past.

    Last year the programme received an overwhelming response from over 3420 participants. Post a rigorous three-staged selection process, 85 players finally made it to the VIVO Pro Kabaddi 2018 auction pool. Through its prior two editions, the Future Kabaddi Heroes programme has brought to the forefront, young players, such as Nitesh Kumar (UP Yodha) – the Best Defender in VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season VI, the first defender in the history of the League to reach 100 tackle points in a single season, Naveen Kumar (Dabang Delhi) – the youngest player in Season VI, who is among the top 10 raiders of the season, Surender Singh (U Mumba) – among the top 10 defenders of the season, to name just a few.

    Launching the third edition of the programme, Anupam Goswami, League Commissioner, VIVO Pro Kabaddi League said, “With the FKH programme, our aim is to identify promising talent and build successive generations of higher quality Kabaddi players. This initiative has been very successful in each of its two editions so far, with aspirants being selected by the VIVO Pro Kabaddi franchises. Some of these young players have scaled significant heights in the League and we have witnessed some record breaking performances by these graduates of the program. This is a testament to the depth of Kabaddi talent in our country and the ability of the program to identify these new young heroes of the mat”

    Commenting on the programme, Former Indian Captain, Arjun Awardee and Former VIVO Pro Kabaddi star, Anup Kumar, said, “This is a unique initiative that serves as a strong base for young Kabaddi players to move towards their dream of playing the sport at a professional level, and creates the opportunity for them to demonstrate their mettle at the biggest Kabaddi stage, the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League.”

    Talking about being an FKH graduate, Nitesh Kumar, Best Defender Vivo PKL Season VI said, “This is the only program of its kind that gives young players like myself the chance to develop into professional athletes for this great sport of ours. The selection is grueling and the training intense, but well-rounded and covers physical abilities, nutrition programs and game strategy. All of which are necessary to perform at VIVO Pro Kabaddi. The program pushes us to our limits, to be the best that we can be, and were it not for this program, I’m not sure whether I would have been given the opportunity to be a part of a great team like UP Yodha.”

    BENGALURU BULLS HOME LEG MATCHES TO BE HELD IN PUNE

    MUMBAI: Mashal Sports Pvt. Ltd, the rights owner and organiser of the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League, announces the venue for the home leg of Bengaluru Bulls in the ongoing sixth edition of VIVO Pro Kabaddi. Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium (Balewadi Stadium), Pune, a multipurpose stadium will host the home leg of Bengaluru Bulls.

    The Bengaluru Bulls home leg begins 23rd November 2018 – 29th November 2018, and will play a pivotal role, as teams will be upping their game and maintaining their rhythm for the last few legs of the season and vying to earn enough points to make it to the playoffs.

    The League has grown from strength to strength in quality of competition, gameplay and player performances. The current season of the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League has borne witness to some very tightly contested matches across teams. There have been some phenomenal performances by new comers like Sidharth Desai, and stalwarts like Rahul Chaudhari (First player to achieve 700 points) Ajay Thakur and Pardeep Narwal redefining their game. 

    Bengaluru Bulls will play their first home leg match against Bengal Warriors on the 23rd of November 2018. Fans can catch each match LIVE, 7:30 pm onwards, on the Star Sports Network including the FTA channel Star Sports First, Star Sports 1 Tamil, in Kannada on Star Suvarna Plus, in Telugu on Star Maa Gold and Hotstar.

    The matches originally scheduled to be held on Tuesday, 27th November will now be held on Monday 26th November. Consequently, the rest day for this leg will be on Tuesday instead of Monday.  There are no other changes to the match schedule. Please find attached the schedule of the matches.

  • Star Sports FTA to be aired on FreeDish from 21 July

    MUMBAI: Shortly after its successful regional foray with the launch of Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports in its relentless pursuit of bringing fans closer to sports launches India’s first private free-to-air sports channel, Star Sports First. The channel will go on air on 21 July on DD’s FTA DTH platform Freedish. This will allow sports fans and enthusiasts to watch their favourite sports, in Hindi, without paying any subscription fee.

    Besides a very rich funnel of sports content, the channel will also air the much-awaited VIVO Pro Kabaddi League Season 5, which will begin in Hyderabad on 28 July, 2017. In addition, the channel’s programme calendar will also include BCCI domestic cricket tournaments, domestic football tournament etc.

    A Star India spokesperson said: “Television penetration in India has grown exponentially. We recognise that there is a very sizeable subset of this universe that is not on conventional pay TV. In the ‘Free-to-air’ content that they have access to, sports content is mostly absent and only sporadically available. It is our belief that there is, however, an eager appetite for it and that is the reason to launch SS First. We believe tens of millions of fans will be created for many different sports offerings through our content bouquet.”

The TVC runs fans through a diverse range of sports that will now be accessible on the Star Sports First channel.
