    Mumbai: IndianOil Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) has teamed up with the official outdoor partner Mera Hoardings for the innovative ‘Time To Turn The Tables Around’ outdoor campaign as it gears up for the upcoming fifth season, to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai from 22 August to 7 September.

    As part of the campaign, striking inverted hoardings, featuring table tennis stars Achanta Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra, Harmeet Desai, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manav Thakkar, are spread across Chennai from today, captivating both locals and visitors. These eye-catching displays showcase the Indian table tennis icons upside-down against the city skyline, delivering a compelling message: It’s time to ‘turn the tables’ and shift the perception of India from being a cricket-centric nation to one that celebrates a vibrant and diverse sporting ecosystem.

    “Our players are making their mark at the Paris Olympics, garnering much-deserved spotlight for the sport with Manika Batra and Sreeja raising their game. To complement their efforts, our OOH campaign aims to package the sport innovatively at the right time to reach a larger audience,” said UTT promoters Vita Dani and Niraj Bajaj.

    This inventive ‘inverted’ OOH campaign not only amplifies the game’s visibility but also highlights UTT’s transformative impact over the past five years. As table tennis has grown from a niche sport to a significant discipline within India’s sporting landscape, the league has been one of its most passionate advocates and prominent contributors.

    Extending their commitment to promoting Indian table tennis, UTT recently caught the attention of the global audience with the help of Mera Hoardings when the league’s promotion was featured on the iconic Times Square billboard in New York.

    The IndianOil UTT 2024 is the biggest edition of the league as, for the first time since its inception in 2017, eight teams will fight for the crown, with Ahmedabad SG Pipers and Jaipur Patriots joining PBG Bengaluru Smashers, Chennai Lions, Dabang Delhi TTC, Goa Challengers, U Mumba TT, and Puneri Paltan Table Tennis. The league is promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani under the aegis of the Table Tennis Federation of India.

    The league’s last season garnered an astounding 55.2 million views and achieved a reach of 62.1 million across digital platforms. The engagement was equally remarkable, with 1.2 million fan interactions throughout the event. The total media sponsorship value soared to 55.8 crore (6.7 million), underscoring the sport’s growing prominence. Viewership was robust with 195 million minutes watched in just 18 days. The live broadcasts attracted six million viewers, while an additional nine million tuned in through non-live content, reflecting the widespread and enduring interest in table tennis.

    This dynamic and innovative month-long campaign will coincide with the much-anticipated fifth edition of the league which is set to witness high-voltage action with the participation of star Indian paddlers, including Manika Batra, Sharath Kamal, Sreeja Akula, and Sathiyan, alongside some of the world’s top players such as world number 13 Bernadette Szocs and Nigerian legend Quadri Aruna.

    Chennaiyin FC have kickstarted their 2024-25 season with the 133rd edition of the Durand Cup. They have been drawn in group D alongside Jamshedpur FC, Indian Army, and Assam Rifles, and will play all of their group matches at Jamshedpur’s JRD Tata Sports Complex Stadium.

    Mumbai: Ultimate Table Tennis has partnered with Viacom18 to bring world-class table tennis action from the upcoming season of the league. UTT 2024 is scheduled to be held in Chennai from August 22 to September 7 and will be streamed on JioCinema for free and broadcasted on the Sports18 Network.

    This deal earmarks the second year of partnership between UTT and Viacom18 following a successful collaboration last season. The franchise-based league, which is in its fifth season, will witness 17 days of high-voltage and entertaining action as JioCinema and the Sports18 Network will bring high-octane matches in English and Hindi for table tennis and sports enthusiasts.

    Launched in 2017 and promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani under the auspices of the Table Tennis Federation of India, UTT has rapidly become one of the most sought-after global sports properties in table tennis. The league has played a significant role in the growth of Indian table tennis, contributing to India’s historic qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

    The league garnered a combined viewership of more than 33 million over 18 days on JioCinema and the Sports18 Network last season. This year expanding its footprint, UTT will feature eight teams for the first time with the addition of Ahmedabad SG Pipers and Jaipur Patriots. The other six teams participating in this edition are: PBG Bengaluru Smashers, Dabang Delhi TTC, U Mumba TT, Goa Challengers, Puneri Paltan Table Tennis and Chennai Lions.

    UTT adds on to the already diverse sporting portfolio of Viacom18, which is home to world-class sporting events, including the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024, Diamond League, select BWF events, BCCI Cricket, TATA IPL, TATA WPL, SA20, Major League Cricket (MLC) and the NBA among others.

    A total of 48 premier paddlers, including top Indian players like Achanta Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Sreeja Akula alongside 16 global stars such as World No. 9 Bernadette Szocs, World No. 16 Nina Mittelham and Nigeria’s ace player Quadri Aruna, are set to compete in the UTT 2024.

    The player draft will take place in Mumbai on July 10.

    Mumbai: Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) has added an eighth franchise to the league’s roster with the announcement of the SG Sports and Entertainment (SGSE) Pvt. Ltd. -owned unit that will represent the vibrant city of Ahmedabad.

    The franchise-based league, promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani under the auspices of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), continues to grow as SGSE– a strategic arm of the APL Apollo Group, comes on board after a successful fourth edition in July last year. The team will be known as Ahmedabad SG Pipers.

    “We are delighted to welcome SGSE and the APL Apollo Group to the UTT family. The success of Indian table tennis stars on the international circuit and the popularity of UTT among players and fans has only made the league stronger over the years.     Mumbai: Stupa Sports Analytics and Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) are proud to announce a strategic collaboration for the upcoming WTT Star Contender, slated to take place in Goa from 23 to 28 January 2024.

    The Star Contender was first brought to India by Stupa Sports Analytics, a leading homegrown global sports analytics firm. As one of the most prestigious events in the international table tennis calendar, WTT Star Contender Goa took place earlier this year and had some of the world’s biggest stars on the show, including the World No. 1 Fan Zhendong, Japanese prodigy Tomokazu Harimoto, World No. 4 Wang Yidi, and World No. 5 Hina Hayata, descending to Goa for the inaugural edition. Besides that, the tournament also saw participation of 40 Indian players which was the highest for a WTT event.

    The tournament will be co-hosted by Stupa Sports Analytics and Ultimate Table Tennis under the guidance of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).

    World Table Tennis (WTT), conceptualised by the International Table Tennis Federation in 2019, serves as the epicentre for professional men’s and women’s table tennis events globally. The series encompasses a multitude of events throughout the year, with the four Grand Smashes standing out as the highest-ranked tournaments.

    China’s Liang Jingkun and Yidi had won men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in the inaugural edition of the tournament.

    Mumbai: Two-time hero of the Indian Super League (ISL), Chennaiyin Football Club (CFC) announced men’s innerwear and athleisure brand GenX as the club’s associate sponsor for the 2022-23 Indian football season.

    This partnership will see GenX utilise various marketing rights in order to engage with the passionate fan base of the club. The brand’s logo will feature on the front of all match and training kits of the Marina Machans below the neck throughout the season.

    GenX, an affiliate of Lux Industries, is a range of men’s athleisure and innerwear manufactured by J.M. Hosiery and Company. This is their first association with a major football club.

    MUMBAI: Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) season 2 is just around the corner as the dates are clashing with the FIFA World Cup 2018, on 14 June 2018. The 18 day-long tournament will be held in Pune, Delhi and Kolkata. This season, breakfast and cereal brand Kellogg’s has come on board as a sponsor in the ‘powered by’ category. With this new association, the league will be called CEAT UTT Powered by Kellogg’s.

    The six-franchise tournament has lined up India’s top stars, including Manika Batra and Sharath Kamal, to play alongside and against some of the finest players in the world. Opening matches will be played in Pune and New Delhi, with the grand finale in Kolkata.

    MUMBAI: Three-time Commonwealth Games (CWG) gold medallist Sharath Kamal Achanta is set for a new challenge in the second season of the Rs 3 crore CEAT Ultimate Table Tennis League (UTT), with the Yodhas swooping on him in the player draft.

    The Yodhas clinched the eight-time national champion, a strong contender for gold in the upcoming CWG in Gold Coast, in round three, after first picking their foreign male and female players. They opted for Chuang Chih-Yuan (Chinese Taipei; World No 18) and Sofia Polcanova (Austria; World No 21) to return with a solid team.

    Interestingly, the foreign women players were very much in demand, with the first seven choices out of 10, coming from that category.

    Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) senior VP Rajeev Bodas credited the CEAT UTT for the rise in the rankings of Indian players over the past year. “We have seen players’ rankings rise by 15-16 spots. For the first time in the history of Indian table tennis, we even had a player who went on to become World No 1 (Manav Thakkar in under-18 category; picked by the Challengers). Now, the TTFI and our players are viewed with a lot more respect on the world stage,” he said.

    “The CEAT UTT is the only league of this kind in the world and the TTFI is fully behind them, providing all assistance for the conduct of the league in a professional manner,” he added.

    The six franchises had to pick four foreign and four Indians each from six different categories (Indian male seniors, Indian male youth, Indian female seniors, Indian female youth, foreign male and foreign female) to ensure an exciting set of matches in each tie. The CEAT UTT commences in Pune from 14 June.

    The teams had the option of retaining one Indian player before the draft pick, and Falcons TTC and Dabang Smashers chose to hold on to Sanil Shetty and Gnanasekaran Sathiyan respectively. In all, 50 were in the pool for the franchises to pick their eight-member squads.

    The highest ranked foreign players Frenchman Simon Gauzy (World No 8) and Hong Kong’s Doo Hoi Kem (World No 11) were picked by Challengers and RP-SG Mavericks respectively. The youngest Olympian in the fray, Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico, went to Dabang Smashers.

    11Sports chairperson Vita Dani expressed her delight at the turnout of players for the second season. “Almost 50 per cent who took part in the inaugural season are back for the second season,” she pointed out. “This season will feature 25 Olympians, players of 19 different nationalities, 19 national champions and 17 No 1 ranked players. We are really proud that exciting talent from around the world is taking part this season,” she added.

    India’s top players Manika Batra (World No 66), Mouma Das (No 71) and Harmeet Desai (No 66) went to Dabang Smashers, RP-SG Mavericks, RP-SG Mavericks and Maharashtra United respectively.

    The league takes place at Pune’s Balewadi Indoor Stadium from 14-19 June 2018 before heading to Delhi’s Thyagaraj stadium from 20-25 June 2018. The final leg of the tournament will be played at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium from 26 June to 1 July 2018.
