  • McCann Delhi appoints Sambit Mohanty as ECD

    MUMBAI: McCann Delhi has appointed Sambit Mohanty as the executive creative director.

    His last stint was with Bates- New Delhi as creative head where he worked for clients like Hitachi and Virgin Mobile.

    McCann Worldgroup chief executive officer Prasoon Joshi said, “I am extremely happy to have Sambit join us at McCann. I have not worked with him earlier but in my interaction with him sensed that he brings in a unique dimension. It‘s rare these days to find people with craft. Sambit has honed his craft and is a superb writer. I am positive that the creative prowess of McCann will get further strengthened with Sambit on board.”

    Mohanty has over 12 years of experience in advertising and design. Starting out as a copywriter at McCann Erickson, he‘s worked in agencies such as Lowe, Publicis, Leo Burnett and Elephant Design.

    He was also behind the ‘Where‘s the Pulp?‘ campaign for Minute Maid Pulpy Orange – a juice drink from Coke. His film for MMPO – ‘deflating oranges‘ – is a part of the Leo Burnett showreel and has been aired internationally in countries like Indonesia, Philippines, Kazakhstan and Mexico.

    Mohanty has worked for clients like Dettol, Mortein, Harpic (part of Reckitt-Benckiser), Tanishq, Britannia, Nestle (Maggi), HP, Indian Express, BBC World, Religare and Chevrolet.

    Grey appoints Kaizad Pardiwalla as branch head for Mumbai

    MUMBAI: Grey India has appointed Kaizad Pardiwalla as branch head for its Mumbai office. He will commence his operations from 11 April.

    Hari Krishnan, the former branch head will head the South operations as vice president and head.

    Both, Pardiwalla and Krishnan will report to Grey India COO Jishnu Sen.

    Prior to Joining Grey, Pardiwalla was working with Bates 141 and was heading there Mumbai office.

    At Bates, Pardiwalla worked on brands such as Virgin Mobile, Colgate Palmolive, Tang, Fiat, TVS, Tata AIG, MTV, Pfizer, ICICI Cards etc. His main mandate was to launch the digital marketing. Also, to run the advertising business with an objective to make digital, advertising and activation work in sync, to provide single idea led solutions to brands.

    On his appointment, Pardiwalla said, “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Grey as this agency has a strong motivation; winning some key accounts in the recent past. I am particularly looking forward to working with Jishnu and rest of the team to do even better work in the coming years.”

    Sen adds, “It‘s great to have Kaizad join us. Grey Mumbai is our flagship office, with a fabulous roster of clients and some really fabulous people. I expect Kaizad to bring his considerable talent and experience to lead the office to the next level of growth and fabulous ideas.”

    Pardiwalla started his career with Lowe Lintas in 1995 and moved to Ogilvy in 1997. After spending seven years at Ogilvy advertising, in 2004, he was appointed as business director, OgilvyOne Worldwide, the digital and direct marketing division of Ogilvy, where he headed the operations in the western region.

    After three years, he took on the reins as the national head of OgilvyOne India. Under his leadership, OgilvyOne Worldwide serviced clients such as American Express, Cadbury, CISCO, IBM, ICICI Lombard, ITC, The Economist and Vodafone.

    Global mobile media firm Mobile Streams gains foothold in Asia

    MUMBAI: Global mobile media specialist Mobile Streams has acquired the mobile entertainment group Mobilemode.

    Founded in 1999, Mobilemode delivers mobile entertainment content and services to mobile phone operators and portals in the Asia Pacific region.

    The acquisition of Mobilemode will give Mobile Streams a comprehensive position in Asia Pacific, with a particularly strong focus on Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. In addition, the acquisition will offer Mobile Streams the immediate benefit of Mobilemode’s experienced management team, and their strong relationships with portals and mobile network operators.

    Mobilemode’s key network operator customers are SingTel-Optus, Virgin Mobile and Hutchison 3G in Australia, SingTel and M1 in Singapore and Maxis and Astro in Malaysia. Mobilemode also has strong distribution relationships with eBay, Electronic Arts, Nokia and Discovery Networks, an affiliate of Liberty Media, Mobile Streams’ strategic investor.

    Mobilemode’s management team has worked in Asia for many years and will be invaluable in supplementing Mobile Streams’ existing business in the region. The two founding members of Mobilemode, its CEO Jarno Salmivuori and and VP business development Norma Salmivuori will assume management positions within Mobile Streams’ Asia Pacific business unit.

    For the year to 31 March 2006, Mobilemode recorded turnover of €1.1m and profit before tax of approximately €48,000.

    Mobile Streams CEO Simon Buckingham said, “This acquisition represents a key milestone in the development of Mobile Streams’ global footprint. Mobilemode will provide us with an excellent stepping stone into the advanced markets of Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore whilst at the same time providing a platform for growth in the emerging markets of Taiwan, Indonesia and the Philippines.”

    Jarno Salmivuori said, “Mobilemode has established strong relationships and operations in Asia which we look forward to developing and growing further through the combination with Mobile Streams.”
