Ad on the go gets a green glow as ETO and Cashurdrive team up

MUMBAI: Billboards are so last decade now, your brand can ride shotgun on an e-rickshaw. ETO Motors, India’s largest electric vehicle fleet operator, has teamed up with transit advertising pioneer Cashurdrive to supercharge the future of green marketing. The duo has rolled out one of India’s largest sustainable advertising initiatives turning over 2,000 electric vehicles into roving, carbon-free ad canvases.

This eye-catching, eco-conscious fleet includes 3-wheelers, 500-plus 4-wheelers and electric buses that will whizz through Hyderabad, Delhi, Kevadia, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Nagpur, and Bengaluru blending brand storytelling with street-smart climate action.

“At ETO Motors, sustainability isn’t a buzzword, it’s a commitment,” said ETO Motors chief marketing officer Rajeev YSR. “We’re offering brands more than visibility, we’re offering visibility with values.”

The move follows the success of a high-voltage pilot campaign at the Kumbh Mela, where an FMCG brand used ETO’s fleet to drive both awareness and impact. Building on that momentum, this initiative isn’t just innovative, it’s accountable.

Clients can now access a real-time dashboard to monitor impressions, track kilometres driven, and even measure the environmental benefits of their campaigns. Advertising, meet analytics with a conscience.

Cashurdrive, managing director Raghu Khanna calls it “a leap forward in green advertising.” He adds, “With ETO’s EVs and our expertise, brands get to go bold and green in the same breath.”

As net-zero ambitions grow louder, this collaboration offers a timely marketing makeover: brand visibility that doesn’t cost the Earth literally. With mobility, measurability, and mission in sync, it’s advertising that hits the road running and leaves only impact, not emissions.

News Broadcasters Federation condemns attack on TV5

MUMBAI: NBF (News Broadcasters Federation) has condemned the attack by unidentified men on the Hyderabad office of TV5, by damaging equipment and property.

"The attack on TV5 is yet another attempt at using physical violence and threats to try and muzzle the media. NBF strongly condemns this and expects the state government to ensure TV5 is able to continue broadcasting in an environment free of such strong-arm tactics which are anyway bound to fail," said NBF president Arnab Goswami.

TV5 has been at the forefront of reporting the high costs of procurement of Rapid Test Kits (RTE) for testing Covid2019 infection by the Andhra Pradesh government, which forced officials to cancel the contract and save crores of rupees to the public exchequer. More recently, TV5 has been highlighting and raising questions on the negligence that led to the gas leakage at a private chemical factory in Vijayawada.

Across India, broadcasters in all languages are doing non-stop programming with a focus on battling the pandemic and ensuring the success of the nationwide lockdown.

NBF, India’s largest industry association representing the combined interests of TV news channels, expressed concern over the increasing incidents of attacks on media and journalists, while performing their duty during these hard times. In the last few weeks, there have been an increasing number of physical attacks and filing of police cases against TV news channels, and prominent journalists across the country, creating an obstacle against performing their public service, despite the hardships during the lockdown of the country since March 24, 2020, NBF said in a press release.

"Since the nationwide lockdown, at least 24 journalists have been booked under serious charges by the police department in various states. Some journalists have also been physically attacked. Such incidents are highly condemnable and demoralising for the journalists and the news broadcasting media," said NBF secretary-general R Jai Krishna.

Work begins on new Vijayawada DD Kendra for Andhra Pradesh

NEW DELHI: The Government yesterday confirmed that it had received a proposal to create an interim set-up at the regional kendra of Doordarshan in Vijayawada to cater to the cultural and economic identities of Andhra Pradesh following bifurcation of the state.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar informed Parliament yesterday that the proposal had been received from the DD Kendra at Hyderabad to start, on an interim basis, a two hour terrestrial transmission from 5 pm to 7 pm everyday including a 15 minute Telugu news bulletin.

The rest 22 hours will be relayed from DDK Hyderabad, since DDK Vijayawada is currently only a programme generating facility (PGF).

Earlier, DD sources had told indianlevision.com that the aim would be to ultimately turn the Vijayawada Kendra into a 24-hour Kendra because the Hyderabad Kendra would become a part of the new state Telangana.

Consequently, Doordarshan has started planning production and transmission facilities that are similar to its Kendra in Hyderabad.

Doordarshan has already taken an initiative to upgrade the existing facilities of Doordarshan Kendra at Vijayawada which presently has one 150 square metre studio and a teleport satellite uplinking facility.

Doordarshan director general Tripurari Sharan and additional director general VK Jain recently visited the Vijayawada Kendra and discussed widespread plan for its upgradation with engineering and programme officers. Sharan asked officers to fast-track its upgradation plan and complete it in a time bound manner, directing Jain to personally monitor the progress.

The DD Saptagiri channel running from Hyderabad will be renamed DD Telangana and the DD Saptagiri channel will be retained for residual state of Andhra Pradesh.

“There are nearly 16 news channels in Andhra Pradesh and most of them owned by political parties which is not the case with us. Our goal is development and responsible journalism,” says Nemani.

The marketing campaign has begun across the states on outdoor buses and hoardings. The creative has been done by an in-house team. With an investment of above Rs 20 crore, the channel is looking at breaking even in the next two years.

Currently, the channel has no advertisers on board but it is looking at gaining a decent viewership through elections. The channel will be available on Tata Sky and Hathway for the start and will soon get on board other platforms as well. However, it says that distribution may take a little while.
