Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 stormed onto Jiohotstar with a blockbuster opening, clocking an impressive 7.8 crore minutes of cumulative watch time on day one. That’s nearly 1.74 times the reach of its previous season, proof that Tamil Nadu’s favourite reality show still reigns supreme in living rooms across the state.

    Hosted by Vijay Sethupathi for the second consecutive year, the show’s new season has lit up the festive mood, turning October into appointment-viewing season. And this time, fans aren’t just watching, they’re part of the action.

    Jiohotstar has reimagined the Bigg Boss experience with interactive features like a 24 by 7 live chat feed and a buzzing fanzone where viewers can react to every drama-filled twist in real time. Adding a desi digital twist, Meme the Moment lets fans capture and share their favourite on-screen moments instantly, making sure every eyebrow raise and argument lives on beyond the episode.

    Interestingly, nearly 47 per cent of total opening-day viewing came via connected TVs, showing how Tamil audiences increasingly prefer gathering around the big screen for a shared family watch.

    CHENNAI:  Media and entertainment executive Sanjay Subashchandran has been named chief operating officer of Vision Time India and TrendLoud Digital India, bolstering his already deep involvement with the south Indian content and events scene.

    The dual appointment formalises a remit he has long straddled. At TrendLoud, where he has served as COO since 2020, Subashchandran built a creator economy powerhouse—launching 15 digital channels, producing 23 web series for major OTT platforms and locking in more than 1,000 influencer partnerships.

    A co-founder of TrendLoud in 2015, he previously headed the business for five and a half years, managing media activity for over 80 production houses and delivering 12,000 hours of television content across the south.

    Subashchandran has kept a parallel grip on Vision Time since 2013 as all-India head of media, marketing and content, where he strengthened channel management, drove revenue through strategic partnerships and created Singoo Candy Rush, an interactive children’s property.

    He is also director of the digital-promotion start-up PickMySlot and co-founder of Maximise Entertainment, an events outfit that has staged large-scale celebrity concerts and brokered endorsements for stars from A.R. Rahman to Vijay Sethupathi. Earlier, he ran VisionPro Event Management for 15 years, producing advertiser-funded shows and spectacles such as PepsiCo’s Ooh La La La music talent hunt judged by Rahman.

    With more than two decades in marketing, events and digital content, Subashchandran now consolidates his influence across Vision Time’s broadcast operations and TrendLoud’s fast-growing digital network.

    Mumbai: Bigg Boss Tamil season 8 has kicked off with a five hour grand launch on 6 October. This season has introduced Vijay Sethupathi as the new host, generating massive excitement among fans.

    This season features a format with a larger house and intriguing new twists, including the  ‘Men vs Women’ theme. From the very first episode, the competition has captured the audience’s attention. Sethupathi has quickly made his mark, skillfully addressing conflicts and challenging contestants during weekend episodes, which has resonated well with viewers throughout Tamil Nadu.

    The launch episode recorded impressive viewership ratings, achieving a nine TVR across Tamil Nadu and an outstanding 13 TVR in Chennai.     Mumbai: The much anticipated Bigg Boss Tamil season eight premiered on 6 October 2024, featuring 14 sponsors across various categories. Presented by Nandu White Dhothis and powered by KAG Tiles and A23 Rummy, the season is also co-presented by Cadbury 5 Star, with support from associate sponsors like Kaleesuwari, Haier, and Cera Sanitaryware.

    The show continues to offer brands a prime platform to reach a wide audience. Vijay Sethupathi’s debut as the new host has generated excitement, with the teaser promo gaining over 10 million views in 24 hours.

    Mumbai: Colors Tamil is all set to premier a captivating and unconventional tale ‘Mumbaikar’ that puts the focus on the city of Mumbai and its many layers this Sunday, November 5 at 2pm.  Mumbaikar, Powered by ‘Ramraj Cotton Shirts’ with Special Partner ‘Pothysin Deepawali Fashion Rockets’, is part of the channel’s ‘Movie of the Month’ series. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Santosh Sivan, the thriller drama, which is the official remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Maanagaram’, stars an ensemble cast, including Vijay Sethupathi, Vikrant Massey, Hridhu Haroon, Ranvir Shorey, Tanya Maniktala, and Sanjay Mishra.

    Mumbai: Pharmaceutical company Mankind Pharma has announced its association with Vijay Sethupathi, an Indian actor and producer who has predominantly contributed to Tamil cinema.

    In lieu of this association, the company will be donating Rs 31 lakh to the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI). FEFSI is an Indian organisation consisting of technicians from the Tamil Film Industry in Tamil Nadu, India. The amount donated will help all those who are facing a slowdown due to the pandemic and will support the growth of the organization and its members, said the statement.

    Popular Hindi movie channel Zee Cinema’s world television premiere of the pan-Indian blockbuster The Master is on Sunday, 30 May at 08.00 pm. The Master is the Hindi dubbed version of Vijay’s Tamil blockbuster Master, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.   

    During the lockdown, Hindi movie channels witnessed a remarkable increase in viewership, and the dearth of Bollywood movies played a crucial role in elevating the popularity of south Indian movies among Hindi-speaking audiences. Zee Cinema, with its world television premiere of The Master, will cater to a large segment of audiences who tune into southern movies dubbed in Hindi.  

    The Master revolves around the story of two people, JD, a college professor, and Bhavani, a criminal. Bhavani exploits youngsters at a juvenile detention centre. Things take a new turn in their lives when JD is appointed as a teacher at the detention centre. As days go by, events lead him to uncover a heinous plot by Bhavani. What follows is a thrilling battle to protect the juveniles and unmask Bhavani.  

    Vijay plays the role of JD in The Master, while acclaimed actor Vijay Sethupathi can be seen enacting the role of the deadly Bhavani. The supporting star cast includes Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, and Andrea Jeremiah.  

    Talking about The Master, director Lokesh Kanagaraj said, “The two big stars Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi coming together added to the scale of the movie. It was a great experience to work with them. I wanted this movie to have a mass appeal.
