    Sujoy Ghosh to start shooting for Kahaani 2 after monsoon

    MUMBAI : Having earlier made Jhankar Beats in 2003, Home Delivery: Aapko… Ghar Tak in 2005, Aladin in 2009, Sujoy Ghosh established himself as a director of repute with the Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani in 2012.

    Immediately after the resounding success of Kahaani, word spread around filmdom that Sujoy was mulling with the idea of making a sequel of the film but nothing concrete happened.

    But now, the director has made it known that the sequel in quite on the cards. “Yes, it will go on floors post monsoon as soon as Vidya finishes her other assignments,” he confirmed.

    Briefing about the kind of role that Balan would play in Kahaani 2, Ghosh observed, “Kahaani 2 will have Vidya in very different avatar, she will be seen doing some dare-devil stunts.”

    Interestingly, Ghosh is taking his first step in acting soon. He is going to play the title role of Byomkesh Bakshi in Rituparno Ghosh‘s upcoming film of the same name.

    MUMBAI: Balaji Motion Pictures has joined hands with Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) to produce the sequel of PNC‘s 2006 hit Pyaar Ke Side Effects.

    The sequel titled Shaadi Ke Side Effects stars Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan in principal roles. They are joined by Vir Das, Ram Kapoor and his wife Gautami, singer-actress Ila Arun and singer Hariharan who will play Farhan‘s father in the film.

    Saket Chaudhary, director of the original, would also direct the sequel.

    The iconic characters, Sid and Trisha, come to life in the sequel, now as husband and wife. Sid having beaten his fear of marriage and Trisha having finally gotten around to saying her vows the third time round. Now they must address themselves to the impossible task of coping with each other‘s fantasies and realities. Will they succeed? That is what Shaadi Ke Side Effects is all about.

    Avers producer Pritish Nandy, “We have the hottest stars of 2013 with us in Farhan after Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and the star of the upcoming film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Vidya after The Dirty Picture and Kahaani together for the first time on screen. They make the perfect Sid and Trisha, each fighting for space in their marriage. Shaadi Ke Side Effects is a witty, sexy, hilarious comedy that will warm your hearts and to all you newly-weds, it‘s time to pick a side again in the war of Mars versus Venus.”

    This film will be the second outing of Ekta Kapoor and Vidya Balan together after The Dirty Picture. Observes Ekta, “Shaadi Ke Side Effects is going to be a laughathon and entertainment all the way! It‘s going to be exciting working with Farhan who is extremely talented and of course Vidya Balan who is an actress par excellence and my personal favorite.”

    Shaadi Ke Side Effects goes on floors on 17 February and is likely to release on 6 December, this year.

    MUMBAI: Known to have directed critically acclaimed Tamil films like Minsara Kanavu and Kandukondain Kandukondain, cinematographer turned director Rajiv Menon has approached Vidya Balan to play noted vocalist and Bharat Ratna awardee M S Subbulakshmi in a biopic to be made on her.

    In a message from a distant land where he is currently shooting, Menon stated, “When I narrated the script to Vidya, she has approved of it. Next week, we would be taking the project to the next level after I return to India. At the moment, I am shooting in South Africa.”

    It is said that earlier Menon wanted to make a biopic on Lata Mangeshkar but later changed his mind to do the same of Subbulakshmi when he came to know that Vidya, being a keen student of music, would be able to carry out the role encompassing the songstress‘ age-span from 18 to 88 with ease.

    According to the director, the Subbulakshmi biopic would be the most costliest ever to be made at an estimated cost of Rs 70 crore in three languages Hindi, Tamil and English.

Ltd and Select Media Holdings Pvt Ltd have finally found their Vidya Bagchi in actor Nayanthara.

    Starring as the female lead in several commercial films, Nayanthara has delivered super hit films across languages in the South and is well known for her character-driven roles.

    Nayanthara said “I am extremely delighted to be a part of this movie. The character of Vidya Bagchi was beautifully essayed by Vidya Balan and I should say I am lucky that Endemol approached me for this role. It is definitely a performance oriented role and audiences will see me in a completely different avatar!”

    Kammula said, “I am very excited to work with Nayanthara on this project. Going by her previous work, I truly feel that she can express and connect with the audiences beautifully. It‘s this endearing quality of hers that makes her our Vidya Bagchi!”

    Endemol India CEO Deepak Dhar said, “With Nayanthara on board, audiences will get to see a whole new Vidya Bagchi. Nayanthara is very well known for her power packed performances and we are certain that she will not disappoint her fans this time around as well!”

    The film is slated to go on the floors soon and the rest of the cast is currently getting finalised.

    MUMBAI: Sujoy Ghosh, who had vowed to have his close associate Amitabh Bachchan in all his forthcoming films in any capacity, after he directed the veteran super star in Aladin, is mulling with the idea of working with the megastar in Kahaani 2, the sequel to his successful 2012 thriller Kahaani.

    The director, who has achieved a lot of fame with Kahaani, was speaking to this writer on the sidelines of a recent award function in which he annexed the best story writer award with Advaita Kala for Kahaani.

    “I am assuring you that Amitabh Bachchan will be part of Kahaani 2 in some way or the other. His blessings matter a lot to me. I can‘t see myself making any films without him,” Sujoy observed. Incidentally, Bachchan who was not in the ensemble cast of Kahaani, had lent his voice for the song Ekla chalo re.

    The director says he will roll the camera as soon as the script is locked.

    Asked as to when he would embark on shooting the film, Sujoy quipped, “I am still scripting the film so I can‘t say exactly when I will start shooting. The story will be a continuation from where we have left Kahaani. He however spilled the beans on Vidya Balan‘s role in the film. “She will be seen in an action avatar,” he added.

    MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur tied the knot with Bollywood actor Vidya Balan on 14 December in a ceremony which was a mix of both Punjabi and Tamil traditions.

    The wedding took place in Mumbai and was a private affair in the presence of family and close friends of the bride and the groom.

    Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra tweeted, "Congratulations to my friends Siddharth Roy Kapoor and Vidya Balan! They make such a beautiful couple..heres wishing them happiness forever!"

    Meanwhile, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted, "My heart filled wishes to buddy Siddharth Roy Kapoor and Vidya Balan for the new phase of their lives together. Congratulations to the beautiful couple."

    MUMBAI: The makers of the 2006 hit ,Pyaar Ke Side Effects, have managed to pull off a casting coup of sorts and have roped in Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar for the sequel titled Shaadi Ke Side Effects.

    The film is a clever take on fascinating ways love works before and after marriage.

    The romantic-comedy will see the actors essaying the role of a married couple who are coping with their issues, much on the comic lines of the first film.

    Talking about the plot, producer Pritish Nandy says that “Vidya will be playing a Delhi girl and Farhan a Bombay boy.”

    The story moves ahead from where Trisha and Sid’s characters (Pyaar Ke Side Effects) left – they get married and the changes that come in their married life, the transformation in their relationship and how they tackle these changes.

    “Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan are the two most successful actors of 2011. We are privileged to have them as the stars of Shaadi Ke Side-Effects and that is why I think this film tops our calendar for the coming year. My belief is that Shaadi Ke Side-Effects has the ability to be 2012‘s most exciting film, wild, wicked and wonderfully, wonderfully entertaining. Mars VS Venus at its best,” says Nandy.

    While the film has an all new star cast, the director Saket Choudhary and music composer Pritam have been retained.

    MUMBAI: Basking under the super success of his Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani, filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh is currently in the process of writing two scripts.

    While the first would star Ghosh’s favourite star Amitabh Bachchan, the second would star Vidya Balan. Regarding Bachchan, Ghosh has already made it known that no film of his would go without the veteran associated with it.

    Ghosh has gone one step further when he revealed the name of the film as Badla. While the tagline of Badla was to be ‘Only God Forgives’, the director won’t be able to use it since a film has been announced with the same name, according to Ghosh.

    The film will also star Naseeruddin Shah and Vidya Balan in prominent roles. “The script that I‘m writing for Sir (Amitabh Bachchan) is called Badla, which, if I write well, will have Sir and Naseerji and Vidya Balan. All depends on the script,” posted Ghosh on his Twitter account.

    Ghosh averred that once he finishes off with both the screenplays, he will decide on which project he would start working first.
