Vidya Balan gets ready to play a sleuth

MUMBAI: She is not considered the ‘Ms Perfectionist’ of Bollywood for no reason. There’s something about her that has added this tag to her name. We are talking about Vidya Balan, who after portraying a quirky Punjabi woman in Ghanchakkar and making headlines for her odd pairing with Farhan Akhtar in the upcoming Shaadi Ke Side Effects, is back in the news again – this time for getting in to the character of Bobby Jasoos.

On Monday morning, pictures of the actress disguised as a beggar came out in the news. According to reports, the actor was so much in to the character that during the shoot a woman even gave her some money. The actor who has always pushed the boundaries to get in to the character is doing the same again.

And the film’s producers know they have got an awesome performer on board. Dia Mirza, who is producing the movie along with Sahil Sangha, tweeted the picture from the shoot and wrote, “That’s our #BobbyJasoos in DISGUISE 😉 She’s one of a kind. #VidyaBalan”.

The film went on the floor on November 23, 2013 in the picturesque city of Hyderabad and will be shot in one schedule, over a span of 55 days, amongst a host of never seen before real locations that stand testament to the vibrant and royal cultural history of Hyderabad, as it aims to be a summer 2014 release.

Producers Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha have put together a strong supporting cast that surround Vidya Balan in a pulsating, thrilling and most importantly heartwarming tale of a woman whose solitary dream is to become the numero uno private eye of her community. The cast includes Ali Fazal, Arjan Bajwa, Anupriya, Supriya Pathak, Tanvi Azmi, Aakash Dahiya and Rajender Gupta amongst others. The film also marks the return of Kiran Kumar who has been away from the big screen for some time and the makers are more than excited to present him in a dynamic new avatar.

Shantanu Moitra and Swanand Kirkire are collaborating on the music of the film.

Dia said in a release, “The idea of Bobby Jasoos was born over a year and a half ago. Today, blessed with an ideal cast and fantastic crew we are ready to roll and nothing gives me more pleasure. The actors have been busy in workshops, readings, look tests and their enthusiasm and excitement is palpable. Vidya has ably led from the front and her dedication to preparing for this part is evidence to the fact that she is an actor who continues to respects the craft and is hungry for more despite achieving so much already. I can’t wait for Bobby to be unleashed.”

  • Shaadi Ke Side Effects to release on Valentine’s day

Shaadi Ke Side Effects to release on Valentine’s day

It seems Shaadi Ke Side Effects starring Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar is facing a tough time with no free slots available for the film’s release. Initially, the romantic movie was slated to release on 6 December, but now it has been postponed to 14 February. The duo is sharing the screen space for the first time.

It is said that the producers of the movie are playing safe, taking into consideration that the much hyped Dhoom 3 has occupied the slot for December release.

However, yet again, the February release is not a clean release for SKSE considering the fact Yash Raj’s Gunday starring Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor too comes out on Valentine’s day.

Shaadi Ke Side Effects is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures along with Pritish Nandy Communications and is directed by Saket Chowdhary.

Chowdhary ventured into direction with his directorial debut Pyaar Ke Side Effects which became a surprise success in the multiplexes.

Vidya Balan sheds extra kilos for her next movie

Vidya Balan who started her Bollywood career with Parineeta, has been simultaneously lauded and criticised for her full-figure.

The talented actress is undergoing a transformation for her upcoming film opposite Emraan Hashmi. Directed by Mohit Suri, the Vishesh Films production will see Vidya play a florist working with a posh hotel. The role demanded Vidya to shed a few kilos to fit the mould, and Vidya readily complied.

The filmmakers did not ask Vidya to lose weight, but she knew that the role demanded so. She is an intelligent artiste who puts in a lot of effort to portray characters convincingly, so she is on a strict diet and exercise regime.

This has not happened for the first time, many actors have actually shaped up as and when the role demands for. Best example would be Kareena Kapoor for her film Tashan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for Dhoom 2 and many more.

Vidya Balan was last seen opposite Emraan in Ghanchakkar. Prior to that, the two worked together in Milan Luthria’s The Dirty Picture.

Ghanchakkar misses the mark even as YJHD crosses Rs 180 Cr at the

MUMBAI: The Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan starrer Ghanchakkar fails to please the audience, with a poor script and execution. Raanjhanaa, which marked the debut of the south superstar Dhanush of Kolavari Di fame, has met with mixed response due to its second half. However, the first week collection figures are a respectable with Rs 32.2 crore; the film may benefit due to poor opposition in Ghanchakkar at places other than North where the Punjabi film, Jatt & Juliet 2, is creating a havoc.

Shortcut Romeo the remake of Susi Ganeshan‘s own Tamil film Thiruttu Payale, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Ameesha Patel and Puja Gupta is doing poorly in its first week having collected just Rs 2.5 crore.

Enemmy, Mithun Chakraborty‘s home production starring Mithun, Mahakshay, Suniel Shetty, Kay Kay Menon and Johnny Lever is doing poor business, barely collecting Rs 1.5 crore in its one week run.

Debunking plagiarism Rajkumar Gupta: “Gunchakkar script is co-written by Parvez Sheikh”

BENGALURU: Denying plagiarism, the soon to be released Hindi film Gunchakkar director Rajkumar Gupta said that the story belonged to a writer named Parvez Sheikh who had co-written the script. Gupta said that Sheikh had narrated the script to him way back in 2008.

According to reports, Dhirender Kumar who hails from Nepal, alleged that the story ofGhunchakkar was similar to the one for which he had penned a script in 2010-11. Kumar, who claims to have registered the script, filed a complaint with the Film Writers Association on May 20, has sent a legal notice to the production house UTV Motion Pictures, and requested a High Court stay for its slated release date of 28 June 2013.

Reacting strongly to queries, Gupta questioned Kumar’s silence for such a long time – the trailer of the film was released more than three months ago. He said “It’s strange that people always get up and claim that the story is theirs and file cases in the week before which a film is to be released. Collectively, as an industry we should be going against such people to court. This claim is absolutely false.”

Refusing to comment further on the counteraction measures, he said that the UTV team was looking into it. Gupta was at the Reliance Digital Store in Bengaluru for promoting the film along with the lead actors of Ghanchakkar – Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi.
