    Shadowfax appoints Sumit Pilankar as VP of engineering & technology

    Mumbai: Homegrown crowdsourced logistics platform Shadowfax Technologies on Friday announced the latest addition to its senior leadership team. To further strengthen the technology vertical and make a strategic move towards the larger business goals at Shadowfax, the company has appointed Sumit Pilankar as the vice president – engineering and technology.

    With over 17 years of rich experience in the technology industry, Pilankar will be taking charge of spearheading the engineering and technology unit and will be reporting to Shadowfax Technologies, co-founder & CTO, Vaibhav Khandelwal.

    His role will involve creating innovative tech-enabled solutions to power last-mile delivery services. Prior to joining Shadowfax, Pilankar had led technology intervention in various organisations like Flipkart, Holiday IQ, WordPoint Technologies, and Kudos Infomedia.

    Sharing the vision for the company’s growth aligned to the latest developments, Khandelwal said, “We are a growing and dynamic company.     Truecaller appoints Jijendran Ravindran as VP, global business development

    Mumbai: Caller ID app Truecaller has announced the appointment of Jijendran Ravindran as vice president (VP) of global business development. 

    In his new role at Truecaller, Ravindran will be working towards expanding business and growth across markets and report to the chief commercial officer, Kari Krishnamurthy.
    Ravindran joins Truecaller from Xiaomi, where he was associate director and the lead for MIUI India. He was responsible for managing and driving the overall business strategy for the brand. Prior to Xiaomi, he was heading app partnership for Micromax in India, Sri Lanka, Russia & Bangladesh. He has also been associated with Airtel and Vodafone in the past.

    “I am excited to have JJ on board. And I am confident that he will push our ambitions of having Truecaller in every connected device globally,” said Krishnamurthy welcoming Ravindran. “His extensive experience and accomplishments in his recent past stints will definitely take our efforts to another level.”

    Lionsgate India appoints Mrinalini Khanna as head, original content

    Mumbai: Global media company Lionsgate India has announced the appointment of Mrinalini Khanna as content head for Indian originals, effective 16 August.

    In her new role at Lionsgate, Khanna will be at the helm of developing, creating, and producing content for both the studio as well as Lionsgate Play, its OTT platform.

    Khanna joins Lionsgate after a 14 years-stint at Endemol Shine India, wherein she set up a robust content slate and set the foundation for their venture into premium scripted production by identifying books, partnerships, and collaborations as well as with productions which include “The Test Case”, “MOM”, “Bombay Begums” and “Aarya”. Prior to that, Khanna worked in content and production for Miditech and NDTV.

    “Mrinalini brings strong domain expertise on consumer-centric business to this role combined with an in-depth understanding of the content development in the OTT space. Her creative experience and commitment will be very valuable in shaping and developing content strategy for the Lionsgate Play in India,” said Lionsgate, MD – South Asia and networks- emerging markets Asia, Rohit Jain.

    Khanna comes with a rich experience in content development for television, digital and live entertainment, besides content planning & strategy for broadcasters.

    Mumbai: Dream Sports, which owns fantasy sports platform Dream11, has appointed Dhritiman Biswas as vice-president, public policy & government affairs.

    Prior to joining Dream Sports, Biswas was associated with Reliance Foundation as head of corporate affairs for two years.

    Biswas posted a note on LinkedIn on Wednesday announcing his move. “Joining my Dream run. Game on,” he said.

    Biswas is a government relations professional who brings about two decades of demonstrated experience in government affairs, public affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, communications & crisis communications, grassroots advocacy, and coalition/industry association management. 

    Previously, he has worked with companies like Asian Paints, Abbott, Walmart, Bharti Retail Ltd (Easyday), and Burson Marsteller.

    Mumbai: Supply chain and logistics management platform Shipsy has brought on board Mohamed Reza as vice president – head of marketing. This development comes when the company is rolling out aggressive expansion plans and strengthening its foothold in the global supply chain and logistics market.

    In his new role, Reza will be responsible for the marketing function with an extended focus on building Shipsy’s presence in newer regions, primarily the Middle East, which holds the company’s RHQ and eventually to other geographies, said the statement.
    Reza was previously associated with MetricStream for ten years, where he headed essential portfolios of the director of strategic initiatives and the head of marketing for Europe. He also worked with Microsoft for more than four years.

    Mumbai: Optical retailer Specsmakers has announced the appointment of S Shriram as vice president – sales & marketing with a deep focus on the upcoming business prospects. In his new role, Shriram will oversee store operations, business expansion and handle strategic marketing.

    The company said it is expanding aggressively through a mix of company-owned as well as franchised stores and plans to have 300 operational stores by the end of FY 21-22 and subsequently reach 1,000 stores by 2025. “The new stores for the current year will come up in existing markets of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh while rest of South India will be targeted in the next financial year,” it added.

    A veteran of more than 24 years in the retail industry, Shriram has worked with companies like RPG Group, The Future Group, Café Coffee Day, and Royal Enfield (Eicher Motors). In 2006, he joined India’s first private greenfield airport at Bangalore (BIAL) where he was solely responsible for designing, conceptualizing, and operationalising the entire retail & commercial areas. In his most recent role at Levista Coffee, Shriram managed to grow its retail presence from 26,000 to 79,000 stores pan-India.

    The company is planning 360-degree media campaigns in the coming year and also looking to launch some new skincare ranges in the next few months, it added.

    Mumbai: In announcement of two key appointments, marketing solutions agency Schbang on Friday introduced Amisha Gulati as vice president – integrated solutions, and Sharmeen Indorewala as head of new business, especially for its technology transformation service.  

    Gulati was previously associated with Zee5 as the marketing manager. At Schbang, she will report to co-founder and CEO Akshay Gurnani. She comes with ten years of industry experience with stints at organisations such as The Glitch, Spark Eighteen Lifestyle, and Vyas Gianetti Creative.
