    Vibhu Agarwal brings new Hindi GEC Atrangii

    Mumbai: A renowned name in OTT space, Vibhu Agarwal has announced the launch of its new Hindi GEC ‘Atrangii – Dekhte Raho.’  The channel will launch in the first week of June.

    The Hindi GEC will cater to the segment of 15+ HSM audiences and will have both fiction and non-fiction series spanning genres like action, mythology, comedy, drama, horror, suspense and thrillers, said the statement. “It will bring quality content for the HSM markets and from the first day itself, launch with a rich original programming lineup of four hours. Its unique proposition is that it will bring finite series with world-class production and treatment, giving the content a definitive edge over currently produced shows in the Hindi GEC space,” it added.

    Atrangii will launch with original shows starring some of the industry’s biggest talent and created by popular production houses. Popular actors like Shweta Tiwari, Rashmi Desai, Isha Koppikar, Shilpa Shinde, Rahul Roy, Vishal Aditya Singh, Bhumika Gurung, Hrishita Bhatt, Rituparna Sengupta and Ashmit Patel amongst many others will be seen headlining the shows.  

    The channel will be launched with a robust library of content that is sure to keep the audiences gripped. This will also be followed by a dedicated all-new OTT platform Atrangii 2.0 for the digital audiences that will stream live content and will also have catch-up television.

    Atrangii will be available across all pay platforms namely Tata Sky, Airtel, D2H, Dish and all cable networks like Hathway, Den, GTPL in India.

    Under the leadership of Vibhu Agarwal, Atrangii will be helmed by Nivedita Basu, who joined the company earlier this year. With her proven track record of over two decades in television production, Nivedita’s role will entail developing, creating, and producing disruptive original content. She will also lead strategic business alliances for the channel.

    Speaking on the launch of the channel, Atrangii founder and CEO Vibhu Agarwal said, “We are extremely delighted to foray into the broadcasting space and build on our vision to offer quality content for everybody across age groups. We wanted the channel name to define our varied multi-genre content offering, yet was catchy and stood out of the clutter.”

    Mumbai: OTT app founder Vibhu Agarwal has announced his foray into the broadcasting space with the launch of a new Hindi general entertainment channel whose name is yet to be revealed. The channel will primarily cater to the target audience of 15 plus years. 

    In the past, Agarwal has produced a Bollywood film and numerous web series content.

    The GEC is slated to launch in the first half of the new financial year and will have both fiction and non-fiction series spanning genres like action, comedy, and thrillers. Unlike other GECs, however, the channel will run finite series where each show will have a limited number of episodes.

    Television revenue is expected to grow at a CAGR of four to five per cent and reach Rs 826 billion by 2024, as per EY-FICCI media and entertainment 2022 report. The revenue from subscriptions for TV channels is expected to reach Rs 415 billion in 2022. Pay TV will continue to grow as states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and West Bengal get electrified. Free TV subscribers are expected to cross 50 million in 2025. 

    The report predicted overall growth of TV connections at a pace of five per cent per year to cross 67 per cent of Indian households by 2025.

    “We have experienced tremendous success in terms of subscription and popularity with our unique offering on our flagship OTT Platform,” said Vibhu Agarwal. “Over the last three years, we have built a formidable content library spanning multi-genre content and age groups. While the digital entertainment space is poised to grow exponentially, the broadcasting industry is here to not just stay but also grow.”

    He added, “Our new Hindi general entertainment channel will have a varied bouquet of shows targeting all segments of society. It will be heavy in both fiction and non-fiction which will have genres like thriller, crime, comedy, horror, and suspense, and star some of the most renowned actors. We will be working with the best of production houses and the most noteworthy talent across to bring content-rich hours of programming. Each show will have slick production value, a novel concept, differentiated narrative, characterisation, and a finite run time. The shows will also be available on the television channel’s own new OTT App wherein the audiences will be able to watch them at their own leisure. This is our commitment to bring entertainment to the household of every Indian across the country that enjoys and understands Hindi.”

    The channel will be distributed across Tata Sky, Airtel Digital TV, Dish TV and d2h, and cable networks such as Hathway, Den, and GTPL in India, as per the statement.

    Mumbai: Viacom18 and Voot have announced a content partnership with on-demand streaming platform Ullu. As part of the partnership, Voot will showcase 100 titles from the Ullu library starting from 14 January.

    As a part of the three-year digital exclusive deal, Voot will get access to popular original shows from the Ullu library across thriller, crime, horror, and comedy genres in different languages. These shows are headlined by popular faces such as Rakesh Bapat, Hina Khan, Sharib Hashmi, Rohit Roy, Sharad Malhotra, Anupriya Goenka, Iqbal Khan, Tanushree Dutta, Ashmit Patel, Hiten Tejwani, Minissha Lamba, Rashmi Desai, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, among others

    Voot titles such as “Tandoor,” “Assi Nabbe Pure Sau,” “Panchali,” “Cyanide,” “26th January” will be available on Ullu’s platform from 14 January and other titles like “Peshawar,” “Paper,” “The Bull of Dalal Street,” “Tadap,” and “Pratiksha” will be available from 21 January 2022 onwards.

    The shows will be available in multiple languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, English amongst others.

    New Delhi: Ullu, a platform that streams 18+ content, is all set to launch a new show titled Slip that revolves around the life of three individuals, Johnny, Naina, and Anjuman. The story depicts how the lives of these characters slip and turn upside down in 24 hours due to the choices they make.

    A gripping tale, Slip is full of suspense, thrill and excitement. It portrays the realism and the downside of making wrong choices. The trailer for the show was released on 22 November and received strong reviews across social media platforms.

    Directed by Rajeev Mendiratta, Slip features a stunning cast with well-known faces from the TV world featuring Anirudh Dave as Johnny, Pooja Bisht as Naina, Swati Sharma as Anjuman, Mayur Mehta as Prince, Vicky Ahuja as Inspector Ahuja and Dolphin Dubey as Saima. It is co-produced by Seventh Sense Productions.

Overall, it was a really amazing experience for me.”

    The app was launched in December 2018 and has over 10 million downloads on Google's Play Store. It operates on a subscription model. On the content front, it follows a partnership model where the producers associate with the platform on a revenue-sharing model.
