    Verizon appoints Chris Formant to lead enterprise business

    MUMBAI – Verizon Enterprise Solutions has found a new president in Christopher Formant. The appointment was announced by Verizon executive vice president and president of the company’s wireline organization John Stratton.

     

    In his role, Formant will be responsible for delivering business solutions to Verizon’s global enterprise clients in key industries: healthcare and insurance; financial services; technology; manufacturing, distribution, automotive and distribution; retail; energy and utilities; and the public sector. He will also lead a team driving sales, operations and marketing of the company’s strategic solutions in intelligent networking, dynamic cloud, mobile workforce, connected machines, security and professional service engagements.

     

    Formant’s background combines a unique blend of enterprise, early-stage company and global-business consulting experience. He was most recently senior vice president and president of Avaya Government Solutions and Avaya Professional Services. At Avaya, he was also president of Global Services, where he led a major business turnaround while significantly improving customer satisfaction and loyalty.

    In addition to his leadership roles at Avaya, Formant has held executive positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and MBNA, as well as serving as adviser/investor to early-stage technology companies. He has been named as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Consultants by Consulting Magazine. Formant received his Bachelor of Science degree from Washington and Lee University and a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University.

    Eric Cevis Appointed President of Global Wholesale at Verizon

    MUMBAI: Verizon Enterprise Solutions president John Stratton has appointed Eric Cevis to lead the unit’s global wholesale division. Cevis most recently led the Verizon’s global wholesale sales organization for the Americas.

    Verizon’s global wholesale team provides a comprehensive portfolio of voice, data, Internet, Ethernet, Global IP, FiOS and advanced cloud and security solutions, as well as professional service engagements. In his new role as president of global wholesale, Cevis will lead an international cross-functional team including sales, marketing and operational support.  The global wholesale organization supports customers including wireless service providers, IXCs, CLECs, ISPs, ILEC, MSO/cable and other telecommunications companies, as well as aggregators, resellers and content providers.

    “Eric has a proven track record of driving innovation and delivering results for our wholesale customers,” Stratton said. “His broad expertise, leadership and customer focus are essential as Verizon strengthens itself as a globally connected company.”

    Cevis has been with Verizon and its predecessor companies since joining Bell Atlantic in 1986, as a staff supervisor for government systems. He has held a variety of roles, including delivering bundled broadband communications services to entire communities; developing new business channels for the retail markets team; and leading sales efforts in emerging markets.

    He is a member, and has served as the national program chair, of the National Eagle Leadership Institute (NELI); serves on the advisory boards of the Consortium of Information and Telecommunications Executives (CITE) and the National Association of Black Telecommunications Professionals; and sits on the board of the National Multi Housing Council.  He is the founding president of the Mu Mu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., on the campus of George Mason University. He is also the executive champion for Disabilities Issues Awareness Leaders (DIAL), a Verizon employee resource group.

    Cevis holds a B.S. degree in marketing management from George Mason University and has done post-graduate work at Wharton.

    Verizon Expands and Enhances Next-Generation Identity Platform to Enable Safer, More Trustworthy Internet

    Verizon Enterprise Solutions is expanding availability of its next-generation, cloud-based identity platform – Verizon Universal Identity Services – to Europe, effective immediately. The platform, previously available only in the U.S., also boasts new user-friendly features, including an updated mobile app, Quick Response code-enabled access, and a simplified end-user interface, making identities easy to manage and use.

    Verizon Universal Identity Servicesuses multifactor authentication to verify users are who they say they are by combining an individual’s username-password with a computing device that generates a one-time password or a biometric scan, such as fingerprint recognition. Once authenticated, users can securely access online content such as websites, corporate resources and even electronic medical records from their computer, smartphone or tablet. Verizon’s cloud-based identity services are an alternative to traditional solutions and provide an easier, faster, more flexibleand secure way for organizations to implement two-factor authentication.

    According to the “Verizon 2013 Data Breach Investigations Report,”weak or stolen passwords and credentials account for 76 percent of data breaches, underscoring the need for stronger online identities.

    “The bad guys are becoming increasingly more sophisticated as they continue to probe business and government networks to gain access and steal information,” said David Small, chief platform officer for Verizon Enterprise Solutions. “Verizon Universal Identity Services is transforming the business of validating online identities to provide a safer, more trustworthy Internet. Our platform will help achieve the vision of a single, trusted universal identity that individuals can use for all online activities, whether at home, at work or on the go.”

    The Verizon identity platform is available on the iOS Android, Windows and BlackBerry operating systems and can be used to validate the identities of employees, partners and customers. The platform also features legally binding digital signature capabilities, such as those required for electronic prescriptions, online tax filing and license renewals.

    In addition, anew,simplified end-user interfaceoffers administratorsan enhanced dashboard with expanded security and operations reportingthat help organizations address and demonstrate security compliance.
