    Viacom18’s Supersonic makes debut in Candolim beach

    MUMBAI: Viacom18 has already established a foothold in the broadcast medium with its successful channels such as Colors, CNN-IBN etc. Going a step ahead, it has decided to imprint itself in the Electro Dance Music (EDM) segment of the country. Roping in DJ and VJ Nikhil Chinapa, the media company’s first EDM festival Supersonic has unleashed itself on the crowds thronging the tourist destination Goa.

    The five-day event, VH1 Supersonic, is being held at Candolim beach that has been till now known for India’s leading EDM festival Sunburn. Leading names such as Alvaro, Nikhil Chinapa, Benny Benassi, Above and Beyond, BT etc will be performing for the crowds that can also be live streamed on its YouTube site. Helming the whole project is former MTV VJ Nikhil Chinapa.

    Leading the sponsor list is Budweiser as the official sponsor along with Smirnoff, Van Heusen, Eveready, Inox, Vivanta, Gelato, Café Coffee Day etc. Ticket prices start at just Rs 1000 and go up to Rs 9500 for one person. The first day saw more than 5000 people attending the fest, according to the organisers.

    Supersonic and Sunburn were embroiled in a court issue regarding Candolim beach. “Candolim meets all the requirements to hold a festival of this scale, superb location on a white sand beach, great mix of luxury, boutique and budget hotels in a very safe environment. To top it all we were approached by the local partners who were keen to partner with us for the festival,” says INS sr VP and business head Jaideep Singh.

    As per sources it takes about Rs 3-5 crore to throw an EDM festival.

    Pegged around old Hollywood glamour, classic meets contemporary is the over arching look of the collection. The exclusive line has already hit Van Heusen exclusive stores across the country.

    Talking on her turning designer Deepika said “We’ll I’m hardly a designer, I think I am someone who has ideas but I’m not very good at executing. But I’m very open to seeing new things and sharing my ideas and then of course I need people to help me put it all together.”

    JWT wins Louis Philippe’s creative biz

    MUMBAI: JWT India has won the creative mandate of apparel brand Louis Philippe following a multi-agency pitch.

    This win consolidates two of Madura Fashion & Lifestyle (MFL) brands, Louis Philippe and Van Heusen, under the same roof.

    The account will be serviced from JWT‘s Bangalore office.

    JWT India CEO Colvyn Harris said, “The business was awarded to JWT based on a strong strategic recommendation and a sharp point of view on positioning the brand in the competitive premium branded apparel market. This win deepens our relationship with one of our most admired clients and is testimony to the confidence they have in JWT. We are very proud of this win.”

    JWT Bangalore has been handling Van Heusen with sub brands like Van Heusen for Women and club wear offering V. for over a decade. Louis Philippe is another addition to the agency‘s roster of brands that include Nike, Lifestyle and Denizen (from Levi‘s) and Kingfisher.

    BANGALORE: Van Heusen has roped in Bollywood debutante Nargis Fakhri as the brand ambassador for its women‘s range of fashion wear – Van Heusen Woman.

    Fakhri, who recently burst on to the Bollywood scene with the movie Rockstar, has been a New York based model. In her first campaign for Van Heusen Woman, Fakhri will feature in the brand‘s range of dresses which is the centre piece of the Autumn-Winter season.
     
    A Van Heusen source says, “Nargis‘ choice as a brand ambassador for Van Heusen Woman brings together key values that work in tandem. The brand is on the cusp of a steep growth and is well poised to extend its appeal to a large western-wear sporting audience, while Nargis‘s career is set to take off equally well.”

    Shot by internationally acclaimed photographer Justin Polkey, the campaign sees Fakhri as a go-getter with a wardrobe to boot. She will be seen in lace sheath, stripes, animal prints, florals, paired with unlined blazers, parka jackets, suede coats, offset by oversized belts and maxi envelope clutches.
