  • Celebrate #EveryDayLove with CaratLane

    Celebrate #EveryDayLove with CaratLane

MUMBAI: Traditionally, Valentine’s Day is centred around mushy romantic love between couples. However, this Valentine’s Day, CaratLane, India’s leading omni-channel jeweller has set out to change course and recognise #EveryDayLove – the kind that may not sweep us off our feet, but makes our lives a little brighter every day through the most subtle gestures.

CaratLane senior vice-president – marketing Atul Sinha said, “Celebrating Valentine’s Day has gained a lot of popularity in India, but most people think of it as a celebration of love between couples. The truth is, that in our lives, there are several people who show us love through their everyday acts of love and kindness. This Valentine’s Day we wanted to encourage people to recognise and celebrate the love that they see in their everyday relationships. We have launched a range of jewellery collections that include motifs like lovebirds, bows, hearts, initials and personalized trinkets to celebrate the love in different relationships.”

To celebrate #EveryDayLove, CaratLane has also come up with two heartfelt videos that strike a chord with everyone who want to thank or appreciate the special people in their life. Conceptualised and produced by ‘Famous Innovations’, these videos showcase new-age relationships with a fresh approach to Valentine’s day. They celebrate the beauty of love in everyday life and elevate these moments with CaratLane.

“Valentine’s Day has always been seen as couple’s day. But of course, love isn’t just limited to couples or to one day. And as a brand which stands for every day jewellery, we decided to talk about the love that we see and experience every day. The love that touches our lives in small, but very significant ways. These films spin the idea of “love” on its head, and thereby show the gifting of jewellery in a new light. We’re telling people that on Valentine’s you can gift something to your mom, sister, brother, dad, roommate or anyone who is close to your heart,” said Famous Innovations founder and CCO Raj Kamble.

  • Shaadi Ke Side Effects to release on Valentine’s day

Shaadi Ke Side Effects to release on Valentine’s day

MUMBAI: It seems Shaadi Ke Side Effects starring Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar is facing a tough time with no free slots available for the film’s release. Initially, the romantic movie was slated to release on 6 December, but now it has been postponed to 14 February. The duo is sharing the screen space for the first time.

It is said that the producers of the movie are playing safe, taking into consideration that the much hyped Dhoom 3 has occupied the slot for December release.

However, yet again, the February release is not a clean release for SKSE considering the fact Yash Raj‘s Gunday starring Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor too comes out on Valentine’s day.

Shaadi Ke Side Effects is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures along with Pritish Nandy Communications and is directed by Saket Chowdhary.

Chowdhary ventured into direction with his directorial debut Pyaar Ke Side Effects which became a surprise success in the multiplexes.

BBC in content deal with Chinese portal

MUMBAI: Users of Chinese web portal QQ.com can now learn English directly from the site thanks to a partnership deal with BBC World Service. It is the first Chinese portal to enter content partnership with the BBC.

From today 14 February 2007, users of the portal will be able to access BBC Learning English content specially tailored for Chinese speakers.

BBC Learning English teaches reading, listening and comprehension. It explains various points of the English language through human interest stories and topics including UK lifestyle and culture.

The BBC will start English teaching on QQ.com with two popular features, Take Away English and Quizzes. Take Away English the BBC says has been a hit with Chinese users as it offers MP3 audio and pdf text downloads, so the learner can quite literally take away the BBC’s English lessons.

Topics range from the latest Harry Potter book and online gaming to Chinese football players, and include listening, reading, exercises and an audio glossary. Quizzes offers learners an interactive test of their English vocabulary and grammar and helps them with teacher feedback.

Looking ahead at what BBC Learning English has in store for Chinese online users, Alison Konieczny, who is the editor of BBC English Language Teaching China team said, “We are planning to treat Chinese learners to two more features which will enrich their English vocabulary in fun and entertaining ways. Real English teaches words and phrases learners won’t necessarily find in their dictionaries, and Word Master is an interactive game which tests and teaches vocabulary common in English proficiency exams.”

BBC World Service’s Business Development Manager for China and North Asia, Raymond Li said, “We are delighted to partner with one of the leading national portal sites in China to provide quality English learning content to many learners in China. Internet has become an increasingly popular and effective learning platform among young people, and the BBC has been building up successful partnership with China’s local portal sites over last few years.
