    Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign in Puducherry sees participation by children

    NEW DELHI: A colourful rally featuring children marked the start of the prestigious Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign at Karaikkal, Puducherry, in the presence of Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s office V Narayanasamy.

    Students from the NSS, Junior Red Cross, Scouts and Guides etc took part in the rally, carrying aloft banners and boards proclaiming the various schemes including the core programmes that fall under Bharat Nirman.

    Narayanasamy lit the traditional kuthvilakku, marking the beginning of the three day information-cum-interactive sessions and exhibition organised by the Press Information Bureau in association with media units of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Karaikkal administration.

    Narayanasamy also released a set of twelve booklets in Tamil depicting the various Bharat Nirman schemes in simple Tamil. The first copies of the illustrated booklets were received by A H M Najeem, MLA.

    The inaugural session was also attended by Puducherry leader of the opposition V Vaithilingam, Karaikkal District Collector A Muthamma Ministry officials present included PIB Chennai ADG K M Ravindran, and PIB Delhi ADG Manoj Pandy, Director of Field Publicity Director N V Nagarajan, and Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity Assistant Director Ravi Kumar.

    This is the 47th Public Information Campaign being conducted in Tamil Nadu. The objective of the campaign is to highlight the various developmental and welfare programmes of the central government.

    More than 70 stalls, depicting the various developments and welfare initiatives of the government, form part of the exhibition. Various sessions on rural development, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, National Rural Health Mission, Janani Shishu Suraksha, women empowerment, PM’s 15-point Programme for Minorities’ Welfare, will be held and addressed by government officials and opinion makers. The government’s recent initiatives like the Unique Identification Card “Aadhar”, land acquisition, Direct Benefit Transfer scheme etc., will be in focus during the exhibition.

    Besides the exhibition at the Municipal Ground, Karaikkal, the DFP has already begun village-level campaign programmes in six identified locations around Karaikkal.

    RTI Online Web Portal launched to file applications online

    NEW DELHI: The government today launched a web portal https://rtionline.gov.in to promote participation of our citizens in the process of governance and policy making decisions of the government.

    Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions and Prime Minister’s Office V Narayanasamy said this facility has presently been provided to Central Ministries but DoPT will consider extending this facility to the subordinate and attached offices of central government also.

    The minister also appealed to the state governments to consider developing similar facility of filing online RTI applications.

    The RTI online web portal has been developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) at the initiative of Department of Personnel and Training.

    This is a facility for the Indian Citizens to file RTI applications online and first appeals and also to make online payment of RTI fees. The prescribed fees can be paid through internet banking of State Bank of India and its associate banks as well as by Credit/Debit cards of Visa/Master, through the payment gateway of SBI linked to this site. This facility is available for all the Ministries/Departments of Central government.

    This system provides for online reply of RTI applications/ first appeals, though reply could be sent by regular post also. This system works as RTI MIS also. The details of RTI applications received through post could also be entered into this system. The citizens can also check the real time status of their RTI applications/first appeals filed online.

    Isro’s PSLV-C20 launches joint Indo-French satellite Saral

    BENGALURU: The Indian Space Research Organisation‘s (Isro) Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C20 Monday successfully launched the joint Indo-French satellite Saral, along with six other satellites in its 23rd flight from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota.

    Other satellites that launched with Saral include Unibrite (NLS 8.1) and Brite (NLS 8.2) from Austria, Sapphire and Neossat from Canada, Aaausat-3 (NLS 8.3) from Denmark and STRaND-1 from the United Kingdom.

    The satellite was launched in the presence of President of India Pranab Mukherjee along with the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, E. S. L. Narasimhan, Andhra Pradesh (AP) CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Minister of State (Prime Minister‘s Office) V Narayanasamy, and other dignitaries from the Government of AP.

    At the completion of the countdown, PSLV-C20 lifted off from the First Launch Pad at SDSC SHAR, at 1801 hrs (IST) with the ignition of the first stage of the launch vehicle. The important flight events, namely, stage ignitions, heat-shield separation, stage separations and satellite injections took place exactly as planned.

    After a flight of 17 minutes 55 seconds, the main payload, Saral, weighing 407 kg was injected to an orbit very close to the intended orbit. Following this, the six auxiliary satellites were also successfully injected.
