    Utpal Das takes charge as Pen India Group CEO

    Mumbai: Pen Studios has appointed Utpal Das as its new group CEO. Das will be leading all the businesses under Pen Studios and its affiliates, announced the media company on Friday.

    In a career spanning 30 years across engineering, consumer, healthcare, and media industries, Das has a remarkable history of success in implementing high-impact growth strategies. For the last 20 years, he has been professionally focused on the media business serving in various capacities at companies like TV Today, Times of India, Zee TV, and Viacom 18.

    “Utpal was a natural fit in our organisation, his business acumen combined with his industry experience is exactly what we needed for our planned growth here on,” commented Pen Group chairman and managing director Dr Jayantilal Gada.

    “Pen Group currently has many mega projects and different ventures as well, and I am happy to be a part of this dynamic organisation and look forward to grow with it,” said Das on his new role.

    Viacom18 appoints Kunal Gaur as chief commercial officer

    Mumbai: Viacom18 has appointed Kunal Gaur as chief commercial officer. Kunal will be taking over from Utpal Das who ends his stint at Viacom18 on 31stMarch 2021.

    Through the past 7. 5 years, Utpal Das has led the commercial, facilities and corporate services functions at Viacom18. He was instrumental in not only shaping and leading these functions but also towards building Viacom18 into one of India’s top media networks through his role as a key member of the company’s leadership team.

    Kunal Gaur, a chartered accountant by qualification, has over 19 years of experience across organisations like Star India, Netflix and PWC. Prior to joining Viacom18, Gaur was a part of the Netflix India’s leadership team in the capacity of director, production finance where he was instrumental in crafting budgeting strategies and leading production finance for all original series, film, non-fiction and documentaries.

    Kunal Gaur will be reporting into Rahul Joshi, MD, Network18.

    Romil Ramgarhia is new commercial head for ZEEL

    MUMBAI: From V to Z. Z as in ZEEL. That’s how Romil Ramgarhia’s route is taking him up the ladder. From handling just one channel at Viacom 18 – Colors – he will now be the commercial head of ZEEL with the responsibility of a larger band of channels in the Zee Network.

    He will be reporting directly to ZEEL MD and CEO Punit Goenka. Speaking on his appointment Goenka said, “I am glad to have Romil join the ZEE family, and I am confident that his rich experience will bring in immense value to the organisation.”

    Ecstatic about his new role with Zee, Ramgarhia said, “It is always an honour to join a global brand like ZEEL. I have personally been an admirer of the pioneering steps taken by this organisation in the past 20 years, and I look forward to being a part of the ZEE family.”

    The appointment is effective from 13 September 2013 and the whole commercial team will report to Ramgarhia. Prior to Viacom 18, he was also associated with Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints and ACC.
    Last month, ZEEL’s former commercial head Utpal Das shifted to Viacom 18 as its new chief commercial officer. It looks like the two networks are busy playing musical chairs with each other.

    Viacom18 hires Utpal Das as Chief Commercial officer

    MUMBAI: From Zee to V. V as in Viacom18. That’s the route that Utpal Das is taking. Viacom18 Media today announced that the long time Times group and Zee TV professional has joined the company as chief commercial officer effective 1 August.

     

    Utpal will be reporting in to Viacom18 CEO Sudhanshu Vats and will be a part of the Viacom18 leadership team.

     

    Announcing this appointment Vats said, “As a network we are growing exponentially. In our next phase we are committed to strengthening our central functions to build efficiencies and drive synergies. Utpal brings rich and diversified experience to the team and I am confident he will contribute to our growth story. I welcome him to the Viacom18 family and look forward to working with him.”

    Utpal brings to the table more than two decades of experience across several companies in the very diverse business segments ranging from Larsen & Toubro in engineering to Zee Entertainment and BCCL in media. Das is a bachelor of engineering from Regional Engineering College-Silchar and executive masters in international business from IIFT Delhi.
