    The Integer Group® India appoints Nazneen Saifuddin as Group Creative Director

    MUMBAI, INDIA – Wednesday July 24, 2013 – The Integer Group®, a leading promotional, retail and shopper marketing agency in India, has further boosted expertise with the appointment of Nazneen Saifuddin as the Group Creative Director. She will be reporting to Parixit Bhattachraya, Chief Creative Officer at TBWAIndia.

    Commenting on the appointment, Bhattacharya said, “Nazneen’s expertise in designing effective shopper experiences is exactly what TBWA needed considering Integer India has been growing steadily.     Saifuddin joins The Integer Group from Kuwait where she worked as an architect and a creative director, specializing in spatial, technical and concept design. She has played a strategic role in strengthening the creative expertise of organizations such as GECDAR, Al Arqum Establishment, SSH, Al Jazera Consultants, amongst others, where she has worked on projects such as the shopper experience maximization for Soor Petroleum retail points, The Radisson Blu, thecakeshop.in amongst others.

    She brings to The Integer Group her retail expertise that spans diverse sectors such as hospitality, fashion, corporate and the service sector.

    Saifuddin added, “I am looking forward to my journey at Integer, wherein I will have the opportunity to utilize my experience in retail development and combine it with the Indian market needs.     Indian short on Tarapur power plant gets Yellow Oscar

    NEW DELHI: The documentary ‘High Power’ by Pradeep Indulkar on the Tarapur power plant in Maharashtra received the Best Short Documentary award at the 3rd International Uranium Film Festival of Rio Janeiro 2013 in the cinema of the Modern Art Museum (MAM) recently.

    Six Films from six countries – Russia, India, USA, Estonia, Jordan and Germany – were honored with the Uranium Film Festival‘s trophy, the Yellow Oscar.

    The festival screened 52 documentaries and fiction movies from 19 countries.

    The 2013 finalised documentary "High Power" gives worthwhile impulses to current "nuclear question" in India.

    Pradeep Indulkar, director of "High Power", is an Indian engineer who has been working during 12 years for India‘s nuclear programme.

    High Power tells the disturbing story of the local population of Tarapur in the state of Maharashtra, where India‘s first nuclear power plant was constructed in the 1960s. Local fishermen families lost their land, their fishing grounds and health.

    "It is an important, nuclear discussion stimulating documentary, that comes at the right time, when thousands of people in South-India struggle against a new nuclear power plant at Kudankulam is the state of Tamil Nadu", says Festival director Norbert G Suchanek. "High Power is Pradeep Indulkar‘s first documentary, and we hope to see more documentaries by him in future."

    "Apart from all the sorrows and distress my film brought to you, this is a golden moment of my life as a filmmaker", said Indulkar during the Award Ceremony in the Museum of Modern Art cinema. "At this moment I remember and thank all my friends and well-wisher who helped in making of High Power. I also thank to all those Indian people who contributed even a smallest amount to make our trip happened. I thank you all who supported this film with as a great audience. I thank Rio, I thank Brazil and I accept this award on behalf of all the nuclear affected people of Tarapur and I dedicate this award to all those farmers and fishermen who lost their land, home and life for nuclear power plant."

    PVR Director’s Rare Label shortlists six films for release

    Mumbai: PVR Director‘s Rare label has shortlisted six films like Celluloid Man, Jai Bhim Comrade, Gulabi Gang, Songs of Mashangva, Spirit Unbound and Children of the Pyre for release.

    Celluloid Man: A Film On P.K. Nair by Shivendra Singh Dungarpur honours the contribution of P K Nair to disseminate film culture in India. Nair was the founder-director of the National Film Archive of India (NFAI), Pune. His efforts have resulted in a coveted collection of 12,000 films at the NFAI from a start-up of 124 films.

    The film, that was screened at the 39th edition of the Telluride Film Festival (TFF) in Colorado, USA, is scheduled to screen under the Real Reel Section of the 14th Mumbai Film Festival.

    Jai Bhim Comrade, by Anand Patwardhan, follows the music and the tradition of activism of the Dalits in India over 14 years. It won a Special Mention at the Dubai International Film Festival 2011 followed by an award at the 12th Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short and Animation films. It also competed at the 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival and screened at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival 2012.

    Gulabi Gang, by Nishtha Jain, traces Sampat Pal and the fiery women of her Gulabi Gang who take up the fight against gender violence, caste oppression and widespread corruption in Bundelkhand. The film will be screened under the Reflecting Images: Masters programme of the 25th edition of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam. Gulabi Gang was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Sundance Documentary Film Program.

    Songs of Mashangva, by Oinam Doren, traces the music of the Tangkhul Naga and its return to the modern age: as Naga Folk Blues. The protagonist Rewben Mashangva travels through the villages of the Tangkhul Naga to talk to the old people and collect songs and instruments. The film won the 58th National Award for Best Ethnographic Film in the non-feature film category and was in competition at the 18th edition of the Lessinia Film Festival.

    Spirit Unbound by Tonmoy Saha is a musical that explores the independent music genre in the India. The film features lives of veteran and upcoming independent musicians in the country.

    Children of the Pyre, by Rajesh Jala, is a 2008 film that documents the lives of seven children working in extreme condition at the cremation ground in Manikarnika in Banaras. The film has been screened at more than fifty international film festivals.

    Kishore Lulla to get IFFLA honour

    MUMBAI: The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) will honour Eros International group executive chairman Kishore Lulla and Sundance Institute’s Michelle Satter and Alesia Weston at its 5th Annual Industry Leadership Awards (ILA).

    Lulla has been instrumental in spearheading the growth of Eros International Group.

    “It is an honor for IFFLA to bestow its highest accolades to such distinguished executives of the entertainment community. They were selected for their vision, leadership, and unique contributions to the educational, business, and creative arenas not only related to Indian cinema, but the film community as a whole,” IFFLA Board member Noel De Souza said.

    “In addition we are thrilled that three of Hollywood’s most highly regarded talents join us for the 2012 Industry Seminar. We cannot wait for them to share their inspiring stories while enlightening and encouraging the fledgling filmmakers in our audience,” added De Souza.

    Since the 1980‘s Lulla has expanded the company’s presence in the UK, USA, Europe, Middle East, Australia, Fiji, and other international markets. He is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and also a board member of the University of California, Los Angeles Film School (UCLA).

    Commented Lulla, “The past few years we have witnessed an emerging popularity of Indian cinema outside of the Country. Eros is proud of its role in bringing this culture, its creativity, and energy to audiences worldwide.

    “IFFLA has been a major component in elevating the presence of Indian cinema in the US, especially within the entertainment industry, and to be recognized by such a prestigious festival is truly an honour.”

    The Awards will be presented on 12 April at the House of Blues Los Angeles.

    Patwardhan’s docu Jai Bhim Comrade at Hong Kong film fest

    MUMBAI: Anand Patwardhan‘s 198-minute documentary, Jai Bhim Comrade, will compete at the 36th Hong Kong International Film Festival that would be held from 21 March to 5 April.

    Shot in over 14 years, the documentary follows the music and the tradition of activism of the Dalits in India.

    It won a special mention at the Dubai International Film Festival 2011 followed by an award at the 12th Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short and Animation films.

    The other documentary that would be screened at the festival is Bitter Seeds by Micha X. Peled of USA. The film that centers around the plight of a cotton farmer in India, how crops are grown, how they reach the consumers and the real human cost is involved.

    Lucky (South Africa), directed by Avie Luthra, will also be screened at the festival.

    Currently enrolled on a Business Edge programme at Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, Unadkat produced a cross-over Bollywood-Hollywood genre feature film – Surkhaab – scheduled to theatrically release this summer in U S, Canada and India.

    Batra’s ‘Lunchbox’ wins jury special mention at Cinemart

    MUMBAI: Ritesh Batra‘s The Lunchbox has won a Jury Special Mention at the 29th CineMart, the co-production market of the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

    The project is a co-production of Anurag Kashyap Productions Pvt Ltd (India) and Cine Mosaic (USA).

    The ARTE France Cinéma Award (10,000 Euro) for the Best CineMart 2012 Project was given to Duncharon by Athina Rachel Tsangari (Greece), a co-production of Haos Films and Faliro House Productions (Greece), Maharaja Films (France) and The Match Factory GmbH (Germany).

    The Eurimages Co-Production Development Award (30,000 Euro) for the Best CineMart 2012 Project with an European partner went to Humidity by Nikola Ljuca (Serbia), a co-production of Dart Film (Serbia) and zischlermann film produktion GbR (Germany).

    Cinemart concluded on 1 February in Rotterdam.

    MUMBAI: The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Don 2 will have a special screening at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival today.

    Don 2, an Indo-German co-production, directed by Farhan Akhtar, has been partly shot in Berlin, also stars a Berlin actor Florian Lukas who plays a German detective. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead.

    The other films to be screened at Berlinale Special are: documentary film Marley from Great Britain and the USA, the Spanish film La chispa de la vida, Keyhole from Canada and documentary series Death Row from the USA.

    New Jersey fest to focus on Indian female directors

    MUMBAI: The New Jersey Independent South-Asian Cinefest (NJISACF) 2011 will screen films by Indian women filmmakers and focus on women from India and other South-Asian countries.


    The three-day festival, being held from 21 to 23 October, aims to introduce new and established independent women film artists from South Asia and the South Asian Diaspora.


    The lineup of films that would be screened at the fest includes Amit Dutta’s Aadmi Ki Aurat Aur Anya Kahaniyan, Sonali Gulati’s I Am, Natasha Mendonca’s Jan Villa, Lalit Marathe’s Shabri, and Deepa Sahi’s Tere Mere Phere.


    The New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest was created as a part of the Asian American Film and Theater Project, a non-profit organisation based in USA.
