    MUMBAI: 4K-SAT, the Ultra-HD channel operated by Asia’s premier satellite operator Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co. Ltd. (AsiaSat), will be broadcasting premium extreme and outdoor content from XTreme Video on AsiaSat 4.

    XTreme Video is producing the best 4K content for extreme sports fans worldwide. Its UHD content on 4K-SAT will include some of the most stunning extreme and outdoor content, such as the successful mountain biking series ‘MTB Insights’ and the world’s wildest freestyle motocross show ‘Masters of Dirt’.

    Fashion One launches new Ultra HD channel worldwide with MEASAT

    MUMBAI: Malaysian communication satellite operator, MEASAT and New York-based Fashion One Television LLC have launched Fashion One 4K, the first English language Ultra HD channel in the world on the MEASAT-3a satellite.

     

    Distributed free-to-air through the MEASAT-3a satellite at the 91.5 degrees East video hot slot, the channel will reach over 130 million viewers across Asia Pacific, Middle East, Australia and East Africa.

     

    Speaking on the launch Fashion One, Television LLC COO Gleb Livshits said, “We are tremendously excited to launch Fashion One 4K, the world’s first global Ultra HD channel dedicated to fashion and entertainment. We have invested heavily in producing Ultra HD content over the last two years, and I’m delighted that we are finally able to share the channel with our viewers.” 

     

    MEASAT CEO Paul Brown-Kenyon added, “Fashion One is a global lifestyle and entertainment TV network, supporting a large and rapidly expanding customer base.”

    Fashion One 4K was launched concurrently on SES Satellite, reaching over 67 million households across North America at 103 degrees West (SES-3) and over 23 million households across South America at 47.5 degrees West (NSS-806). 

     

    Fashion One has been upgrading its production format from HD to ultra HD since 2014 and now owns an extensive library of ultra HD content with 100 per cent content rights.

     

    In Europe, the channel is broadcast under the brand Fashion 4K, reaching over 116 million households at 19.2 degrees East.

    Eutelsat launches Ultra HD channel for Europe

    MUMBAI: Eutelsat Communications has launched a dedicated Ultra HD channel for Europe on the Eutelsat 10A satellite.

    Delivering a resolution of eight million pixels, four times the resolution of HDTV, Ultra HD is poised to mark the next big leap forward in the immersive viewing experience.

    Eutelsat‘s new channel is designed to benefit all actors in the broadcasting chain who want to acquire expertise in 4K, including production companies, pay-TV operators, rights owners and TV set manufacturers.

    The new channel will operate in progressive mode at 50 frames per second. It will be encoded in MPEG-4 and transmitted at 40 Mbit/s in four Quad HD streams. Eutelsat is partnering with Ateme, a video compression solution provider to the broadcast industry, for the transmissions that will be uplinked to the Eutelsat 10A satellite from its teleport in Rambouillet, near Paris.

    "This new step towards 4K continues Eutelsat‘s longstanding commitment to achieving new broadcast milestones that over the last 20 years have included digital TV, HDTV and 3D," said Eutelsat‘s Commercial Director Jean-François Leprince-Ringuet.

    "Early and close collaboration between all players in the broadcast chain will be a key success factor for this new revolution. We are delighted to propose this first Ultra HD platform for Europe.
