    MUMBAI: Talk about ‘screen’ goddess! This Durga Puja, TV9 Bangla is donning its festive best, bringing a dazzling mix of heritage, adda, and celebration straight into Bengali living rooms with its Sharadiya line-up.

    Carrying the theme Pujo Ebar TV9 Banglaye, the channel promises a blend of inspiration and entertainment for Bengalis worldwide. The festivities kick off on Mahalaya (21 September) with Panch nari hatey tarobari, a stirring tribute to five trailblazing women, including theatre icon Noti Binodini, literary firebrand Mahasweta Devi, Rabindrasangeet maestro Suchitra Mitra, Antarctic explorer Sudipta Sengupta, and cricket legend Jhulan Goswami.

    From Sasthi to Nabami (28 Sept–1 Oct), Pujor adda adds sparkle with stars like Abir Chatterjee, Mimi Chakraborty and Srijit Mukherji, chatting about their festive spirit and upcoming blockbusters. Meanwhile, Bonedi barir pujo (22–26 Sept) takes viewers inside Bengal’s aristocratic mansions, where grandeur meets tradition.

    The line-up doesn’t stop there. Annya durga (23–27 Sept) salutes unsung heroines: women from the tea gardens and tribal communities who have fought adversity with grit and grace.     MUMBAI: On the eve of Doctor’s Day, TV9 Bangla pulled out all the stops to salute Bengal’s bravest in white coats. The fifth edition of the Suswasthya Health Awards & Conclave aired Sunday, July 13 at 11:30 am, celebrated not just doctors, but also disruptors in research, frontline caregivers, and even filmmakers championing health awareness.

    The glitzy gathering was kicked off by TV9 Bangla’s managing editor and business head, Amritanshu Bhattacharya, consulting editor Anirban Choudhury, and the ever-revered medical veteran, Dr Sukumar Mukherjee.

    The big applause was reserved for the big names. The lifetime achievement honours went to ophthalmology icon Dr I.S Roy and dermatology Dr Subrata Malakar. In a nod to innovation, professor Suman Chakraborty, director of IIT Kharagpur, was recognised for his pathbreaking research in healthcare tech.

    TV9 Bangla also added gravitas with two new awards named after legends—dr Subhas Mukhopadhyay, who pioneered India’s first test-tube baby, and dr Kadambini Ganguly, the country’s first female physician. Their spiritual successors—dr Subhankar Chowdhury and dr Geeta Ganguly Mukherjee—were celebrated for carrying forward that torch of excellence.

    Calcutta Medical College’s department of gynaecology and obstetrics took a bow for bridging science and the sacred process of birth. Elsewhere, Dr Kousik Lahiri and dr Debashish Bhattacharya added more sparkle to the winner’s list.

    The unsung heroes didn’t go unnoticed. Dr Tapas Kumar Das, Dr Samarendranath Roy, and nurse Dolly Biswas were quietly applauded for their tireless work away from the limelight.

    Mumbai: Consequent to the newly launched AI tech TV9 Bangla Pujor Gaan, the tagline of TV9 Bangla Sharadiya affirms ‘Shoke Drohe Utsab’. This year the news channel speaks of mourning, rebellion, and celebration which means celebrating victory over evils in society, showcasing empathy, and raising voices for protesting the horrific rape and murder of the young doctor of the RG Kar hospital in Kolkata that has shaken the globe.

    According to TV9 Bangla managing editor & business head Amritanshu Bhattacharya, “The mood in the state may be sombre, but that doesn’t seem to have dampened the festive spirit of Durga Puja.     TV9 Bangla this year highlights a special programme under its puja banner, ‘TV9 Bangla Sharadiya’ taking the contemporary issues of the society.

    ‘Mayer Pujo Meyer Hatey’ is a special Durga Puja program showcasing selected pujas organized exclusively by women across the city. It will air on TV9 Bangla from 4 to 12 October at 3:30 pm.

    ‘TV9 Bangla Pujo Somman’ features the sera barowari and sera abason competition, recognizing 237 puja pandals throughout Bengal. This includes nine main categories: ‘sera theme’ (best theme), ‘sera protima’ (best idol), ‘sera poribesh’ (best environment), ‘sera mohila porichalito pujo’ (best women-organized puja), ‘sera barowari’ (best puja committee), ‘sera alonkar’ (best ornaments), ‘sera suraksha’ (best safety), ‘manusher pashe’ (beside common people), and ‘jelar sera puja’ (district pujas). This series will air from 10 to 12 October at 1 pm on TV9 Bangla.

    Additionally, TV9 Bangla’s ‘manusher pashe’ initiative supports underprivileged children through partnerships with NGOs to provide essential items. “For TV9 Bangla, puja means another occasion to stand beside and touch upon the lives of the people of Bengal in every possible spirit. The cross-section of people includes the privileged and underprivileged. To touch upon the lives of people TV9 Bangla has tied up with an NGO to put an additional colour and joy.     Mumbai: Highlighting the spirit of Durga Puja in a unique style, TV9 Bangla launched a campaign showcasing popular areas in Kolkata frequented by pandal hoppers, including Bagbazar, known for its traditional theme, and Maddox puja, famous for its youthful crowd. It also mentions Bosepukur, which was among the first to introduce theme pujas in Kolkata and features the light and décor of Ekdalia Evergreen. Additionally, the song recalls notable pujas in Naktala and Samaj Sebi, among others.

    The campaign features two protagonists visiting pandals across the city while the TV9 Bangla OB van travels to district hotspots in Bengal, including Hazar Duari, Bandel Church, and Cooch Behar Raj Bari. Highlighting the tagline “Na Dekhleyi Noye,” meaning not complete without seeing, the new campaign song emphasizes that the day’s news from TV9 Bangla is essential, just as seeing Ma Durga during Durga Puja is necessary, with the music capturing the festive spirit.

    The campaign’s visuals combine AI and graphics, with hand-sketched and painted elements animated to match the background score. AI enhances the animation, and VFX is used for special effects after framing each shot.

    The campaign song features contributions from NEO – The Creative Company as the agency, music composed by Ishaan, and vocals by Upal Sengupta.

    Mumbai: TV9 Bangla, the Bengali news channel from TV9 Network, has recently concluded its flagship program, ‘Uttaran Academic Excellence Awards’, at the city’s five-star hotel. The program felicitated the students who have excelled in their board exams this year from the districts, the city schools, and the academic institutions who have outperformed their skills to showcase their efforts for shaping future generations.

    At the outset of this event, Govt of West Bengal’s minister of education Bratya Basu, inaugurated the event by delivering a keynote speech. He later awarded a few schools and colleges for their remarkable achievements along with TV9 Bangla managing editor Amritanshu Bhattacharya. This event has also recognized Prof Kaustav Sanyal, the first Bengali director of JC Bose Institute. He was felicitated for his extraordinary skills in in-depth research, disciplinary insights, and academic outreach.

    Mumbai: In a resounding recognition of its commitment to excellence in journalism, TV9 Network won a staggering 53 awards at the News Television Awards 2023, organised by Indiantelevision.com at an event on 9 December in Holiday Inn, Delhi.

    The honours span no less than 15 categories and 7 languages, recognising the work of multiple broadcast channels and digital platforms by TV9 Network, including News9 Plus, The Innovation Hub, Money 9, TV9 Bharatvarsh, TV9 Bangla, TV9 Gujarati, TV9 Kannada, TV9 Marathi, TV9 Telugu and the TV9 UPUK Digital YouTube channel.

    Incepted in 2007, the News Television Awards honour outstanding television news journalism across 45 unique categories in 8 different languages, rewarding “channel programmers, anchors, presenters, technicians, producers, editors, reporters and management”, as per its website.

    As part of this collaboration, seven premium channels from TV9 Network are live on JioTV and JioTV+, offering an extensive range of news, entertainment, and infotainment programming to JioTV and JioTV+’s vast and diverse user base. The channels include TV9 Bharatvarsh, TV9 Telugu, TV9 Kannada, TV9 Marathi, TV9 Gujarati, TV9 Bangla, and the network’s latest English offering News9.

    JioTV is a LIVE TV streaming platform with over 1000 channels in over 15 languages and 12 genres and hosts content from over 200 broadcasters. JioTV offers LIVE TV along with a seven-day catch up which can be consumed on mobile phones and tablets with Jio sim cards for free. JioTV+ on the other hand is the connected device for TV screens that runs on JioFiber and wifi offering the best OTT packages alongside the linear channels.
