Zee Media appoints Manish Seth as chief revenue officer

NEW DELHI:  Zee Media has brought in Manish Seth as chief revenue officer, banking on his track record of doubling digital revenues to power the broadcaster’s next growth phase.

Seth joins with immediate effect from 28 October, the company told stock exchanges on Monday. The appointment, approved by the board on the recommendation of the nomination and remuneration committee, designates him as senior management personnel under India’s listing regulations.

The new chief revenue officer arrives with a formidable reputation. At TV9 Network, where he most recently served as revenue head for digital and business head for Money9, Seth doubled digital revenues in just two years. He also pioneered integrated television and digital sales models that broke new ground in Indian media.

Before TV9, Seth spent years at Zee Unimedia, Zee Media and Bennett Coleman, consistently delivering double-digit growth and launching multiple channels and products. His expertise spans revenue strategy, sales transformation, go-to-market planning and profit-and-loss management across broadcast and digital platforms.

Seth holds a postgraduate diploma in marketing management from the Times School of Marketing and a bachelor’s degree in science from Delhi University.

Zee Media is betting that Seth’s digital chops and proven ability to build high-performing teams will accelerate its transformation at a time when traditional broadcasters are scrambling to capture online audiences and advertising rupees. With 25 years of trench warfare in media sales under his belt, Seth now has the mandate to write the next chapter of Zee Media’s revenue story.

  • TVU links Modi summit across 25 sites

TVU links Modi summit across 25 sites

MUMBAI: When the world tuned in to hear what India thinks, the cloud did the talking. TVU Networks’ cloud-powered broadcast solutions stitched together 25 venues across the globe for the “What India thinks today” summit in New Delhi, headlined by prime minister Narendra Modi.

The two-day event at Bharat Mandapam brought together leaders and influencers to debate India’s role in the new world order. Behind the scenes, TV9 Network leaned on TVU’s tech stack: Partyline, Anywhere and One, to keep conversations seamless and audiences connected in real time.

The numbers tell the story. Sub-300 millisecond latency ensured smooth exchanges that felt as if participants were in the same room. The entire system was up and running in less than a day, slashing timelines that usually stretch to a week. And uninterrupted HD transmission held steady across international and domestic venues, even when networks were under strain.

The payoff was more than technical. The cloud-driven approach cut deployment costs and complexity while giving TV9 the freedom to focus on content rather than configuration.

“Delivering a truly global, interactive summit required agility and reliability,” said TV9 Network CTO Badari Prasad S. “TVU’s cloud ecosystem delivered both, setting a new benchmark for live connectivity.”

TVU Networks GM south Asia Subodh Aggarwal added, “This shows how our cloud solutions can eliminate borders while reducing costs and complexity.”

By powering a multi-venue, interactive broadcast of this scale, TVU Networks has underlined how cloud technology is reshaping live production worldwide. For global broadcasters chasing speed, scale and simplicity, the message is clear: the future is in the cloud.

TV9 Festival strikes a high note with Shaan, Sachet–Parampara in Delhi

MUMBAI: When beats meet bhajans and pop collides with pujo, you know Delhi’s in for a spectacle. The third edition of the TV9 festival of India promises to be bigger, brighter and louder, bringing together music, culture, food and fashion in a five-day carnival at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium from 28 September to 2 October 2025.

TV9 Network, which has seen huge success with the past two editions, is upping the tempo this year with star-studded concerts, celebrity DJs, dazzling dandiya nights and Delhi’s tallest Durga Puja pandal. “With the grand success of the last two editions, we are raising the bar this year. The festival reflects the spirit of India: culture, tradition, festivity and modernity,” said TV9 Network, COO, K Vikram.

Headlining the line-up are Bollywood favourites Sachet–Parampara and Shaan. The duo, known for chartbusters like Bekhayali, Maiyya Mainu and Raanjhan, will perform on opening night, 28 September, while Shaan, the golden voice behind classics such as Chand Sifarish and Woh Pehli Baar takes the stage on 1 October.

But the music doesn’t stop there. Dandiya nights will keep the floor alive with a Bollywood-meets-Garba twist: DJ Sahil Gulati spins on 29 September, DJ D’ark on 30 September, and a top international DJ closes the celebrations on 2 October. Add to that day-long live acts ranging from folk and fusion to indie beats, and you’ve got a non-stop sonic feast.

The festival, however, is not just about music. A sprawling lifestyle expo will showcase everything from handicrafts and home décor to fashion, beauty, tech and jewellery, alongside international stalls. Foodies can eat their way across the country with delicacies from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, while workshops, contests and art corners keep younger visitors entertained.

At its spiritual heart lies the awe-inspiring Durga Puja celebrations, with rituals, décor and a towering pandal that promises to be a visual and devotional centrepiece.

With something for everyone, whether you’re a shopaholic, a foodie, a culture buff or just chasing a great night out, the TV9 Festival of India is shaping up to be the capital’s biggest festive bash. Tickets for concerts and dandiya nights are available on Bookmyshow, while the lifestyle expo is free to attend daily from 10 am to 6 pm.

Munaf Merchant takes charge as head of revenue & partnerships at Bullet

MUMBAI: Munaf Merchant has joined Bullet, the fledgling micro-drama OTT platform, as head of revenue & partnerships. He steps into the role after a near four-year run at Associated Broadcasting Co. (TV9), where he most recently served as senior vice president – revenue digital.

Merchant, a dealmaker with a reputation for scaling ad sales across print, digital and broadcast, cut his teeth at India Today before a long innings at Network18. At the latter, he held posts ranging from regional sales head west to national sales head for brand solutions and convergence.

  • One Tap Wonder as TV9 Clicks with Google’s Global Spotlight

One Tap Wonder as TV9 Clicks with Google’s Global Spotlight

MUMBAI: When it comes to logging in, less really is more and TV9 Digital has proved just that. In a rare nod from Silicon Valley’s finest, Google has spotlighted the Indian news platform in a global case study for its swift, smart, and successful rollout of Google One Tap sign-in.

The feather in TV9’s cap? Over 2 lakh user registrations in just 60 days. No passwords, no confusion, no drama just a single click and straight into the news. The result? Fewer drop-offs, happier users, and a treasure trove of first-party data.

The case study from Google highlights how this friction-free feature supercharged TV9 Digital’s user acquisition and retention. It wasn’t just about the numbers, though. The richer data allowed for smarter personalisation think curated newsletters, targeted alerts, and reader experiences that feel like they were written just for you.

Emphasising that innovation TV9 Network’s DNA chief growth officer Raktim Das said, “Being recognized by Google in a global case study is a proud moment for us. It underscores our commitment to combining journalism with cutting-edge technology to deliver a superior experience to our digital audience.”

Das added: “Google’s partnership on Google One Tap has been instrumental in our user acquisition strategy, delivering a seamless sign-up experience. The resulting 200,000 registrations in 60 days demonstrate the immense potential of this collaboration. We see this as a significant opportunity to further leverage this partnership for enhanced audience engagement and first-party data growth.”

March was already a milestone month for TV9, with 138 million unique visitors recorded on ComScore. But this Google case study has turned a strong run into a standout moment, positioning the brand not just as a news destination, but as a tech-forward leader in digital publishing.

As platforms everywhere scramble to future-proof their audience strategies, TV9’s “One Tap” masterstroke shows that when it comes to engagement convenience really is king. Or in this case, news you can trust with a single click.

  • Jeev Milkha Singh reflects on golf and life in ‘Duologue with Barun Das’ season two

Jeev Milkha Singh reflects on golf and life in ‘Duologue with Barun Das’ season two

Mumbai: The much-anticipated fourth episode of ‘Duologue with Barun Das’ season two premiered on News9 Live, India’s only 24×7 digital English news stream, at 9 pm on 8 June 2024. The episode featured TV9 Network MD and CEO Barun Das in an engaging conversation with India’s most iconic golfer, Jeev Milkha Singh.

In a heartfelt and candid exchange, Jeev Milkha Singh shares that it was his father, the legendary sprinter Milkha Singh, who introduced him to the world of golf. He recounts his early experiences on the golf course fondly, playing alongside his father and other young enthusiasts. He further emphasizes how his father acted both as a source of support and as a prudent advisor, warning him of the risks of taking up a sport professionally.

Discussing the idea of a ‘sporting gene’ in light of the sporting success of both his parents, Jeev attributes his success not to genetics but to a mindset instilled in him from a young age. He recalls how the philosophy of hard work, practice, and belief in oneself was a recurring theme at family dinner table conversations, which played a crucial role in shaping his professional approach.

The duologue enters philosophical territory as Jeev reflects on the nature of golf and its parallels with life itself. “As a professional golfer, you will wake up one day and you will be brilliant that day. And next day, you’re playing like a beginner. So it teaches you. Every day is not the same, but whatever is thrown at you, you make the most out of it. You go out and fend for yourself. Handle the situation in the best manner that is thrown at you. And you’ve got to use your mind. You cannot lose it”, said Jeev.

Here, host and media maverick Barun Das added his own insights gleaned from the golf course. Viewing the game from the perspective of a corporate leader, Das opined that golf taught him that by keeping an eye on the result, he lost one on the process. Elaborating on process vs outcome, he believes that a golfer isn’t hitting a ball, but making a perfect swing with the ball just happening to be in the path of the swing.

The duologue also touches upon the subject of golf in India, and the need for systemic support to nurture talent. Acknowledging the large reservoir of untapped golfing talent in India, Jeev advocates for the creation of more public golf courses and driving ranges to democratise the sport, emphasizing the importance of building an ecosystem that encourages people to play and pursue excellence.

The episode offered viewers a rare glimpse into the personal and professional life of one of India’s most celebrated golfers, and his relationship with one of India’s most beloved athletes, exclusively on News9 Live.

Episode one showcases a dynamic conversation between TV9 Network MD & CEO Barun Das and the iconic Indian actor, Allu Arjun.

In an inimitable exchange, Das and Arjun delved into the evolution of Indian cinema and the actor’s pioneering contributions to the industry. Arjun, renowned for his versatility and dedication to his craft, opined on the status quo in Indian cinema, sharing valuable insights on the changing landscape of Bollywood and the global influence of non-English films like Korean cinema.

Reflecting on his own cinematic journey, Arjun discussed his passion for exploring diverse roles and experimenting with different genres. “Bollywood is undergoing a renaissance, and I want to be at the forefront of this transformation,” he declared. Arjun’s dedication to his craft and his willingness to take risks have earned him widespread acclaim, solidifying his status as one of India’s most bankable stars.

Regarding his personal growth journey, Arjun emphasized the learnings received from the works of renowned experts, including Dr. Deepak Chopra, whom Arjun claimed to be a big believer of, and who also appears as a guest in the second season of Duologue with Barun Das.

Elaborating on his optimism about the future of Indian cinema, Arjun shared his enthusiasm for the multi-genre format, emphasizing the importance of embracing new storytelling formats and pushing the boundaries of traditional filmmaking. Clarifying the USP of Indian cinema as one that blurs the lines between genres, creating a seamless blend of action, romance, comedy, and drama, he said, “I want to bridge the gap between Bollywood and global cinema, creating a unique cinematic experience that resonates with audiences worldwide”.

Regarding the role of AI in the entertainment industry, Arjun welcomes technological advancements as tools for innovation and creativity, stating, “If there’s something new coming, I’ll be the first person to embrace it because it is inevitable. It is going to change. Let us accept the change with open arms.”

The conversation offered viewers a rare glimpse into the future of Indian cinema and the visionary approach of one of its brightest stars. Marking the start of the CTV premiere of ‘Duologue with Barun Das’ season two, the episode will be followed next week with one featuring footballing great Oliver Kahn, on Saturday, the 25 May, with further episodes to release every Saturday at 9 pm, on News9 Live.
